Help me justify the purchase of 50 more zombies..

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Unfortunaltly you can't put hero's in them so there a rubish bunker, and fleeing enimies only take a dangerous terrain teat when running through enemy units so they arn't that good at that anymore either.

They are probably still quite good at tarpitting monsters and now everything is wounded on a 6 and everything gets to strike they might even hurt one!

Why you need more zombies? You play Vampires. Do you need any real justification for using 50 more bodies on the field? C'mon! don't make me send Rob over to you! :mad2:

Just kidding. Kind of.

But, on the realistic side. Zombies do fill a nice niche in our army. They can still nibble on enemy fleeing units (Not the auto feast they used to, but any free hits they get are awesome in my book) by simply being in the way, they can take table quarters, they can take Banners (Very useful in the Blood and Glory scenario), and they're easily affected by the most basic of spells; the Invocation.

Don't expect them to win combats, expect them to delay, dismay, and annoy your opponents and occasionally grab 100 points for a table corner and/or objective. That's about all they can do....but to that effect---!

You need 50 more! Do it! I'm going to!

Lots of zombies are actually pretty hard to shift even if they do die in droves remembering they come back fast and even if they are pathetic they will still drag down 3-4 elves or 1-2 chaos warriors a turn...

Plus zombies are just cool :zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie:

One can never have enough zombies can they, for the one with the most zombies win's. No seriosly more zombies is good, I plan to do some tarpitting with mine great for tyron and other annoying charecters. Nothing fustrastes a opponent more then to kill zombies with his best unit or charecter turn after turn after turn ect. They have been the corner stone in many of my wins lately.

Oh yeah, and one last thing...

50 FREAKIN ZOMBIES

1)zombies are cool.
2)All the reasons people have already said, so i shall not repeat them.
3)The box does not actualy come with 50 zombies, but based on the video on the Mantic blog i think it might be 51, and that they are on sprues of 3 mini's each. each sprue has a severed spinal column that you can attach to a pair of legs to have half a zombie walking around, and a base for you to put a torso on so you can have a zombie clawing its way out of the ground. if it is 3 per sprue then that is 17 sets of those peices, and if you use all of them (17 half zombies and 17 rising from the earth) then you can get more like 68 from that set and all you need is a few extra bases. you probably never need to buy zombies again, though i don't know how many you already have, if any. and the idea of a 100 strong zombie horde is deply appealing to me.

If only i didn't do most of my gaming at Games Workshop stores...

I already have 70 Gw zombies and fully intend to buy another 50 of these bad boys. Agreed they have lost a lot of their oomf in this ed, but, it's worth buying them for two reasons. One, I really like mixing up mantic with Gw models, they look wicked together - my skeles look brilliant now with mantics mixed in. Second, to see the look on your opponents face when you line up a shambling tar pit of hell. I am thinking about trying a unit of 130, 13 wide by 10 deep. Shuffle forwards with the mother of all flanking forces bombing round the back. Fun.

I have about 30 GW zombies (all made from the ones in the battalion box) and am, too, thinking about getting those mantic zombies. What worries me is that the guys at my local GW store wont like that, even if they are just for raising purposes. Has anyone had any experiences with that. Also Im unsure if the models will mix well with the GW ones, since they are true scale and thus a lot "skinnier" than the old 6th ed. GW zombies.

If someone already has some, because he is really close with mantic (yes, Im looking at you, DoN! xD ) could post a picture for size comparison, that would be really helpful.

Other than that I can just say you can never (NEVER!) have enough zombies :zombie: ! They make for funny dioramas and are just the coolest unit in the army (although they have suffered ruleswise, Im sure you know what Im getting at. ;)

I am thinking of getting some as well (when I've got money) to make a huge shambling horde, 10 wide, 10 deep, but again, my problem is that most of my games will be played at GW (seeing as none of my friends play Warhammer Fantasy, but 40k) and, like Dogmar, would like to know if the guys at GW have a problem with it, because I also want some of the Mantic cavalry? Because I'm NOT getting the GW Black Knights, for love nor money.

For those of you wondering if the GW store will have an issue with non GW models let me put it this way. Would you walk into a Burger King with a Big Mac meal?

GW stores are much more than just places they let you play, they are the corner stone of their sales business where they teach you how to use and enjoy their products. Therefore the staff are informed to keep their products the only ones in the store.

Realistically it all boils down to the Store Manager or Supervisor, however you should be aware that it is company policy to have only GW models being played in GW stores and events. I hear many times that people think GW tournaments only require 51% GW product, therefore if they mix and match they will be fine. This is a misconception, they allow converted models if they are based on GW products, whereas if they are whole "foreign" models or conversions based on "foreign" models they are probably against the rules.

Its one of the main reasons I wont attend GW stores or run events. I can understand their business reasons behind the policy but I dont like the restrictive nature of those rules so I play in a non affliliated gaming club, we allow anything because it far farer.

To the OP, you know you want the Zombies and we dont have to convince you to get any more. Just by asking the question you have already convinced yourself. Zombies a awesome and you need more!

In my experience Games Workshop stores are pretty understanding when it comes to alternative models. I played a guy with a Wood Elf Army who had about 75% of the metal models in his army (and there were a lot of metal models) produced by other companies and they gave him no problem. I think that they understand that if a customer wants to buy a couple models from another manufacturer, they are only hurting their business by turning away.

As for the Mantic Zombies, though, just mix them in with a couple Games Workshop ones and no one will notice...
If they do then just use your jedi mind powers on them.

I would like to get ... At least a couple of 50 model boxes, to, when necessary put them in a HUGE horde, ten models in a rank, in 10 ranks. THAT would be immense. :D Can't wait. :vampire3: :zombie2:

What is this "points for table quarters/corners" you speak of? o_o

Back in 7th edition you received 50 Victory Points for every table quarter that you controlled by the end of the game. That means you had a unit of at least Units Strength 5 in that quarter while your opponent had none.

I think that's pretty much gone in 8th edition though, but I might have missed something, since I still dont own a copy of the new book myself :frown: :'(

On the OP: We all told you that they are zombies. They are dead, they are rotten, what's not to like.

I hope we convinced you enough. Have fun assembling and painting them :zombie:

I miss the table quarters thing a little. It made sense to me,in many respects war is as much about controlling areas as it is killing the enemy.
Being able to withstand a siege doesn't make one a ruler.
There are no corners to huddle into on a real battlefield and failing to intercept the enemy will likely leave you surrounded, your supply lines cut,and your options dwindling.

So, I just saw the manitc zombies being able for pre-order and, seriously 50 models for £25 in dirt cheap!!

So, is there any point in me buying and painting them? Seeing that they are even worse in this ed...

Help please!

Oh, and also, I already know they look awesome, so that argument is invalid ;)

They are cool models and they may be very cool in Kings of war, i think people need to stop worrying so much about what the most competitive choice and just build a army they like.
