Lord Skrolk here

I am new around these Vampire ridden parts. Been playing Warhammer for 21years for the most part as a treacherous Skaven player, spent a good fews playing Chaos and have only in the last few weeks decided its time to start a new army. With the release of the new Vamp list I started thinking about collecting a shambling, rotting horde led by vamps - NO SKELETONS! Don's ask me why, it might be limited, but I just liked the idea of things being either freshly dead, ethereal or Vampirish. Maybe I should come up with some sort of back story to this?

My army as it currently stands pre-Christmas reinforcements......
(have not played it yet, lacking Core stuff) I got a 2,500 battle coming up so still need plenty of troops. Any suggestions very welcome!

<HEROES>
Vlad
Manfred mounted
Winged Vampire
Necromancer on Horse back
Necromancer on foot
Blood Knight Vampire on foot
Blood Knight Vampire mounted
Wight King
<CORE>
20 Crypt Ghouls
20 Zombies
14 Dire wolves (4 from Gamezone, these will be the Doom wolves in 4 units of 6)
6 Fell bats
Corpse Cart (Gamezone model - absolutely wicked model!)
<SPECIAL>
20 Grave Guard
5 spirit hosts (converted Flagellants and Zombies)

Cheers

Hi

Im new to vampire counts, I used to play 40k a few years ago but stopped. I carried on reading the black library books and have a few friends who play warhammer so going to give it a go and see if i enjoy it or not.

Hi there im tex im very new to vc's but been playing warhammer for a few years now i only have one other army the wood elves and i have had a great deal of success with them but i wanted to go to an army that was totally different. Ive played 2 games as vc's and ive won by a massacre vs empire and drew with lizardmen. Im struggling a bit with the big troop blocks and very expensive characters and not knowing how my cavalry fits with it all. I keep forgetting we can bring back models from the dead!!! I usually play a very fast mobile fast cav list for WE and so its taking time to get used to the incumberance of my troops.
Anyway great sites guys please keep it up

Welcome to this site Tex, you'll get the hang of the undead infantry units sooner or later. But you really should not forget about the ability to bring them back to unlife!

Hey guys,

I'm "Kindred".

Some of you might know me by 'kbloodslear'. Why the hell I signed up with my username as opposed to the full name it represents, idk at this point u_u;.

Anyways, I'm sick of being called 'kbloodslear', so I created a new account. o_O

New account, same old.

First post!

And here we go again.

This will be my fourth time I resume Warhammer over the last decade. Started off with orcs & goblins, followed by tyranids and wood elves and now lastly vampire counts. The annoying thing is that for every time I resume playing they have changed the rules to a new edition, so I have to buy a new core rulebook :P

Ah well, I just placed my first order of undead minions. 40 skeletons, 20 zombies, 10 ghouls, 2 vampires and a corpse cart should make up the bulk of my army, and is shipping here as we speak. Can't wait to open those boxes and smell the sweet perfume of brand new unused plastic, with all the potenial it brings with it.

Well, that's it. I just wanted to say hi, and that I've found my way into the dark crypts that are carpe noctem.

Hey Guys, I'm a Dark Elf player that turned into a Vampire player as well since the new armybook was released. Always been fascinated by the VC and TK and when the new book was released it sealed the deal. Now it's taking some getting used to the different style of play VC have compared to Dark Elves but I'm getting there. I'm also a member of Druchii.net so some of you have probably seen me post there.

Now I find myself here to hopefully learn from experienced VC generals and to just wander around and read.

Atleast you did get a decent welcoming tribute, Genesis. If I remember correctly, some one else joined the forum no more than 10-15 minutes after I did, heheh.

Greetings. Kaladas Harkon salutes the worthy, and rejects the weak.

I have been playing a mix of WHFB and 40K for the past couple of years.
I am addicted to ridiculously overpowered cavalry heroes and comically large units of Grave Guard.
I am currently looking for a reason to take Blood Knights over Black Knights.
I have been looking for a decent Vampire Count community for quite a long time.

It's about time I found one.

Kaladas Harkon, at the service of the Dragon above all others.

I guess this is the place to make the proper introductions.

I’m a long time player of Warhammer, with Orcs and Goblins and my beloved Dwarfs. Both these armies are fairly “mature”, and I’m able to field several thousand points of each and they’re both about 90% fully painted. As such there’s not much left to do with them and last year I went all year without losing a game with either of them, as such I want/need a new WFB challenge… So I want to make a new army this year and as a life long fan of Hammer Horror films, Vampire movies full stop and the god that is Christopher Lee, I though I’d try and dabble with the dead this year.

I’ve very much starting from scratch. My Orcs and Gobbos are an infantry horde army and my Dwarfs are very much an infantry force as well. So I’m tempted by a magic heavy cavalry force, but I’m keen to learn from the Army list section what works and what doesn’t. Also I’m not a fan of the Black Knight Models, which tempers my desire for a cavalry army.

I’ve already got the army starter box, and I’ve got some old Skellies and Zombies lying around from old D n D games et al. Also I’m just starting a Mordhiem Undead Warband. So I have some miniatures, though few painted, and virtually no cavalry!

Hi there,
I am DarkReaper and I have been gaming for about 20 years now. I started off with Rogue Trader and 2nd Edn WHFB. I have been away from the gaming scene for about 12yrs and am now looking to get back into it. In that time I have been mainly converting and painting models. First love has always been the Wood Elves (mainly due to Wardancers), and at it's peak the army was well over 12,000 points. but I have also dabbled in Dwarves, Dark Elves, Khorne, Tzeentch, High Elves and Orcs and Goblins. On the 40k side I have always been a Space Marine player, again with an abusively large army. I was recently persuaded by a friend to take up some new armies, so have trawled through the fluff to find something that appeals. Vampires have always been a fun subject matter, and great for conversions, so here I am. My army is being converted out of my bits box and unit remnants from different races, plus a couple of the new plastics. Being a purist I seem to want every model to be individual, so I end up converting everything.
My theme is loosely based around a von Carstein army, that has coopted fallen enemies from the Storm of Chaos.
Army as follows:

Vampire Lord on Abyssal Terror (undead Wyvern and empire general, spare steed)
12 Grave Guard with scythes, plus "classic" vampire (ex-chaos warriors)
15 Grave Guard with great weapons, plus combat vampire (ex-chaos warriors, plus converted Crom the Conqueror)
45 Skeletons, plus necromancer (old edn spear skeles, plus Radagast the Brown from LoR)
2 units of 25 Zombies (amalgamation of zombies, marauders, flagellants, beastmen and a couple of night goblins)
2 Bat Swarms
5 Spirit Hosts (flagellants, marauders, beastmen and a dwarf)
Army Standard Bearer (vampire converted from Empire general box)
One classic Banshee

I'd like to welcome you new members to the forums of Capre Noctem, I hope you'll enjoy your (eternal) stay here and please, do share pictures and other little artistry of your armies in the painting forums. Do it not only for the rest of us and our viewing pleasure but also for yourself as having your work commented upon sure works as a motivator to keep on going. I would know, I experienced it less than a month ago, heheh. :)

Again, welcome!

I am brand new to the whole thing, site, game and VC's. I decided it's about the only two player game out there and the hubs is a long time player so he drudged out his old stuff and I started on VC army, my first couple games have clobbered his chaos army so that's a good sign. I have just today finished painting my first unit of undead goblins which was fun and have learned a lot. Upon finding ideas for my next painting task I found this site and look forward to the knowledge found in those with much more experience then I.
