So Krell gets heroic killing blow if he's in a unit with Kemmler AND when he's in a challenge. Since he has Killing Blow normally, is this really only good for monsterous infantry?

I initially read this thinking, "Hey, we can kill monsters". Then i realized there's no way to challenge with a warsphinx, is there? Unless i'm missing something, this is just a fluff Ogre/Troll/etc character-killer?

Hmm, good point. None of those are in my local meta, but time to find some suckers (other than myself) who put their lords on dragons ;)

And then Krell has to live long enough to swing his ASL great weapon. I don't think you'll ever get any mileage at all out of his HKB unless you buff him to hell and back.

That's what Heinrich is there for. You need to Vanhels Krell and Hellish him (what I call Vanhellish) and possibly buff him with some other stuff; lore of light/corpse cart (or does that only work on zombies?) should get rid of his ASL.

Also, if his challenge is refused by some N00B player or a player fearful of losing a character to Krell, and if this is a combat involving multiple units, Krell could still kill a monster and use his HKB without actually being in a challenge. This is a way of "getting around" Krell's challenge rule.

I love this model as well, but I play EURO rules 99 % of time so not special chars for me, but I use it as normal(BSB) WK with magnetized standard so if it will happend that I can use special chars I will be able to use him as "normal" Krell

If your playing with a duel ME list giving him a 5-6 regen makes him a little more survivable.

Krell still does Multiple Wounds(D3) which is still viable against Ogres or other MI. He's also t5 with 4 wounds, which makes him a bit more resilient in the challenge, but lack of a ward save still makes him somewhat of a glass cannon.

Krell allways works for me simply by taking a corpse cart near by. I dont believe in this it is too slow to keep up arguement. Simply as it can move 4 inches and then it has 6 inch aura once a vamp spell hits it. Potential 10 inches to play with. Realistically if you dont get a vamp augment off in the magic phase you are very unlucky

Thats why krell asl is never an issue for me and with initiative 5 he is no slouch in the going first department anyway

I think GW didn't bother giving him great rules, because they knew everyone would buy him based on the AWESOME model. I include the model in every game, in a variety of wacky roles. A couple of times he's run around on a large base and been called a varghulf (we decided that was more the killing power he should have)

I play in a very un-competitive environment:)

The point is that he only has 3 attacks. So he really needs to hit those 3 if he want to do some mayor dmg. Banner of the Barrows might help with this. He is basicly a man-mountain vs infantry, but you don't want him in cc with those. You want him to kill bigger things. But bigger things can also kill him. Still, he has high thoughness and wounds, so in combination with nightshroud he might deal the hurt first, but only against 2 out of 3 enemy models ( or 1 out of 2 if we're talking about orge-sized things). As stated, dual ME might work, but still...

Krell was put in the VC book partly to satisfy Nagash fans, along with Kemmler and Mannfred actively fighting for Nagash in the VC army book fluff. Krell was also released for nostalgia purposes. His competitiveness was not thought about much; he was seen as simply something you'd use in combo with Heinrich by GW. It's just another money trick by GW - and you know what? It works.

I think that either GW are going to move away from Nagash in the next book, or they're going to move closer towards him, perhaps even bringing in some dark lords, or maybe even the Beast from 4th edition himself!

I don't think they go so far as to bring Nagash back

Although saying that, they have now released the primarchs for 40K. Perhaps forge world will do Nagash in one of their books

Forget Herohammer - it's Godhammer now.

Bringing Nagash back is #1 on my wishlist! Let me stress that again: #1 on my wishlist! :devil2:
So yes, I'm going to have a minor rant about it:
- The latest and most recent fluff/lore is recorded in our new book. It's about Mannfred securing the still living High Elf mage to use as a sacrifice to resurect Nagash ( eventhough in that same book it is said that in the year 1681 he returned to 'life' again). Mind you, in the old book of the Undead ( yes before it was split up) was all the lore up until the resurection of Mannfred, aswell as the fluff of all the other characters. This means they took all the years since 1994 to come up with some fresh lore.
- He is the only one that is a more powerful mage than Teclis, even in his now diminished state.
- Ofcourse, if they can make an uber model like the new Krell, imagine what the would do to a model the size of three men?
- They could bring him out in a campain like form. GW would have all the more reason to sell more mini's/products this way.
- Would be cool ( and sorta logic) if he could combine both Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings in 1 army, with all benefits and restrictions possible ( basicly, back to the old Undead, before it was split up. Can you imagine? Zombies and Screaming Skulls all over again!)
- I'm going to stop here since it is of no added value to this thread.

*sigh*

Sorry, had to let that out.

My #2 is the return of Walach Harkon. I wont start about that...

If you want the return of Nagash, simply head over to the Legion of Nagash section of the forum. It's near the bottom of the forum, and contains an army list - with fluff - that is Nagash's army. It includes the Great Necromancer himself, and is currently being updated because of the new VC book and 8th edition (a lot of new stuff is getting introduced into it). However, only a few members are working on it right now, so if someone could contribute, it would be much appreciated, and their ideas and designs would be reflected in a massive proportion of the Legion of Nagash army list.
