Its a magical vortex, so it is a template spell yes.
First, I nominate a direction. I choose to nominate that it will go straight forward from my caster (so directly north on the map)
Okay... gotta roll an artillery dice now. Dont think the dice roller has that function built in, so will roll a d6, but..
1=2
2=4
3=6
4=8
5=10
6=Misfire

Okay, so it moves off my caster 3 inches that way.
My caster suffers a str 2 hit because it started its move on my caster. Rolling to wound.... wounds on a 6+

Hazane, my lore of shadows emissary, will now try and cast "Unbind Monster" on the Balefiend.
He has +3 to cast (1 for staff, 2 for magic level)

Phew, that was one lucky set of rolls to survive that magic phase.

Just need to resolve the Ghor-gonner now.

Okay, now that it is the end of the magic phase, choking foes effects get resolved.
Ghorgon takes an ld test with a -3 modifier...

Ghorgon passes ld test, so takes no wounds.
Next magic phase this happens again, with a -4 penalty to ld for the test instead. (Unless you dispel it by then)

Okay, close combat phase time.
First up, Black Coach Impact Hits against the terrorgeist. They hit automatically, and theres d6+1 of them (+1 for the scythes)

Now the terrogeist gets to make its attacks, because the black coach has lower initiative.
Except its attacks arent magical are they?
Okay, nightmares make their attacks....with re-rolls for hatred since this is its first round of combat, and hitting on a 4+

Okay, I get +1 to combat res from the wound inflicted, and +1 for charging, so the TG suffers 2 wounds from combat res right?

Alright, the Black Knights get to strike first against the spirit hosts...
So thats 4 attacks from the front black knights, 2 from the hell knight, 4 supporting attacks from the second ranks knights, and 5 skeletal steed attacks.
So first up, 10 ws3 attacks against the hosts, needing 3+s

Thats 2 killing blows... killing blows work on spirit hosts right? Sounds strange I know.
