Hello
I have a friend who plays HE and who's been kicking my ass almost every game since I got my own VC army. Now, I was really excited when Undead Legions became a thing as this means I have a new means of killing those damn elves before they reach CC: shooting.
When I told him about some of my new possibilities and how excited I was for this merging of the undead armies, he told me the following: "Well, I could basically mix my army with all the other armies if I wanted to, but I don't 'cause I think it's kind of stupid."
I should probably mention that back when I had just started investing in my army - and only had zombies, skeletons, a necromancer, varghulf and corpse cart - this friend of mine mixed his HE army with a cannon from the Dwarfs book with a rune that had it cause fire wounds, which basically killed everything I had and this made the game quite frustrating for me. He even topped it off by taunting me with each loss I suffered to really make sure that there was mutual understanding of his superiority.
Yes, he makes me slightly angry at times, sorry for whining.
Now, the way he completely disregarded the Undead Legions as being "stupid" and comparing it to just "mixing armies" made me a little bitter, to put it lightly, but I managed to just shrug it off.
So, to the actual question: are people really allowed to mix units from different army books as they please? This honestly completely ruins my interest for the game. I mean, how am I supposed to win against crazy magic AND shooting?
