Lucien turned to Kate/Marcus "I'm sorry, you did just say a relative of yours was rumoured to be a vampire, didn't you?" he said incredulously "And as you say, why exactly would you admit to such a thing knowing how worked up everyone is here? You must be either more unhinged than I first suspected, which is bloody crazy by the way, or perhaps...." he paused to stroke his pointed beard

"... you are attempting a very risky double bluff."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I just finished my breakfast and we're still talking about how many vampires there might be and the like it seems. Well the thing about noble birth and such was kinda interesting to listen to. Myself, I've never put much stock in it. I think nobility is something it's far nicer to be raised to than born into." Flynn flashed everyone what he considered his most winning smile.

"On the subject of the vampires again though, I'm not so certain that talking to be people until someone says 'Hey, I might be vampire!' is likely to work"

Flynn picked up his bladed staff from where he had left it at the side of the room and whirled it around his wrist experimentally. "Now I'm not saying I'm the greatest fighter the world has ever seen, but I know how to use this reasonably well and several of you are carrying weapons as well, which I assume are more than just for show. This vampire - or vampires" he added, bowing to Konrad, "Is or are outnumbered. At the side of this room is a whole lot of food and some delightful cheese nibbles, which can keep up going for a while but won't satisfy a certain deeper hunger that our unwanted guests have."

"What I'm saying is that we can be ready for when the next attack comes, and wait for the vampire's hunger to overwhelm it and force it to attack when the odds are stacked against it and we're alert. Who agrees with me?"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Gregor nodded to Flynn.
"Your plan has significant merit, and I believe is sound. We will need to arrange a watch schedule for sleep..."
He took a notebook with an amulet hanging from the spine and began writing down names.
"So... I didn't catch everyone's name. Let me just finish this and we'll see if I've missed anyone."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"You have forgotten one very important point," Bastion cooly replied, "And that is that we need to sleep. The vampires do not. Even if we were to establish a rotary watch system, that would already cut down our numerical advantage by at least a half.
Furthermore, the majority of us are not fighters in any physical sense of the word. No, we cannot best these beasts with attrition. In fact, those crossbows,"
he continues, motioning to the battery of weapons festooning the upper staircase, "Are likely the only thing between them and slaughtering us right now."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

''I must ask. Why do we not simply stay in this room? The vampire would sooner or later go hungry, then be forced to show his or her true face and the guards can put oh so many bolts into the beast.''

Serethia slowly lifted a new piece of fruit to her lips before devouring it eagerly.

''I rather not sleep on the floor but it is still better then the alternatives?''

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"Being unarmed certainly isn't going to help us. I don't see why we shouldn't have everyone grab one of those things, even if it is just for psychological comfort" Flynn tapped his head with one finger.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"So what happens when it is the vampire's turn at watch? Who watches the watchmen as they say... And unless you plan on staying here a very long time I fail to see the merit in waiting for the vampire to strike. He has just fed, not 24 hours ago. From the vampire lore I was allowed access to in my studies the creature can now go a significant period of time before feeding again. No, wait and see will not work. We must use more active means to uncover the fiend."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"What if two people took watch at a time? And the pairs were chosen randomly?" asked Rosa, "Surely the crossbow would intervene if the vampire ended up on watch?"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I suspect that Caleb is correct ... Who knows how long the vampire can go without feeding, or when it drained someone before the poor fellow who was murdered. We cannot wait around; that is likely to get even more of us killed.
"He is also right about a watch rota. Even if there is more than one person on each Watch, who is to say that would not both be vampires? No; I suggest that each night we go to our rooms and barricade ourselves in. Not very dignified, but I cannot see even a vampire entering our rooms silently if we place much in their way. At least we'll have the chance to wake and warn others."
Antonio rapped his fingers rhythmically against the top of his cane and stroked his chin, before frowning and doing it again. With a theatric sigh, he let his hand drop.

"Anyhow. I would not arm people who do not know how to wield weapons; they would be as much a danger to us humans as they would be to the vampires. I also do not trust the guards of Lady Anita. Any sane woman would have killed us all by now, as well as had her staff purged.
"No. Do not rely on intervention."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I pity the person who get paired up with a vampire. A vampire you are suggesting arming, as if they weren't bad enough already." Lucien said stifling a yawn with the back of his hand.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

" Crossbows are notoriously slow to reload and may or may not kill a vampire. " Markus pointed out rationally. "but then i suppose there are few reliable weapons when facing a vampire so overall i can only suggest that posting someone to watch for the vampire is likely to be ineffective overall and we should all just try to get some sleep. "
"Sleep?" Kate interjected. "I can think of some more fun things to do tonight than sleep." She said with a sly wink.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"By doing why you'd open yourself to be alone with a vampire and extremely vulnerable. Keep your clothes on, and your mouth shut unless you're going to offer sensible solutions," Antonio voiced sardonically, his eyes closed and hands at his temples, rubbing them as if to sooth a headache.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"Ksh, right, right."

Serethia gave a small nod, staring at her nearly empty plate before refocusing on Antonio.

"Try to be a bit more kind to her, good sir. I am sure her cheerful attitude is a way to simply cope with a terrible situation.-...And I believe she was speaking to her husband."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

*Listening to them all talk for what seemed like hours on end Arabella came up with her own ideas dismissing them almost as quick as she thought of them thinking them the thoughts of a foolish child before finally chiming in with her own thoughts*

"We need a way to keep people apart so we can find where the monster is....
There are plenty of bed rooms, if we were to sleep in groups, 3 or 4 to a group and barricade the door, being the only way in to the room we would be safe from everyone who is outside the room"

*Swallowing nervously*

"And if the beast if in the room with you, at least we then know where it is...."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I fear that barricading ourselves in rooms will prove pointless. I have heard tales of these monsters who can control the minds of men and have doors opened to them, or turn themselves into mist and pass through the smallest of cracks. Others are so physically powerful that they would smash all barriers aside and slaughter those inside before the others had even left their beds. Try as we might we cannot protect ourselves. Our only choice is to attempt to find the beast BEFORE it strikes again."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

*Looking down at her hands sighing, gripping her dress*

"If they are that strong we are already dead if we go from the stories.
Either this monster is not strong enough to do this or it is toying with us and even if we find it we will all be killed because we have no way to defeat it....

Unless we have any better ideas than sleep on it and see what happens.
We need to do something!"

*Almost yelling at the last, eyes tearing up as her emotions got the better of her*

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I concur; either we are dead regardless or the creature, or creatures, is or aren't as powerful as the stories say. I shall be barricading myself alone in my room this evening. I refuse outright to run the chance of being killed by someone I'm sharing a room with. Plus, it may be someone who takes a dislike to me and decides to find a way of killing me anyway. No, I refuse. I shall sleep alone!"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Suddenly pausing from his meal Ulfr turned to gaze at Bastion for a few moments before speaking
"I just did what any man would do, even the dead should be shown some respect" he shrugged in between mouthfuls of bacon
"'I'm Ulfr Gulbrandr" continuing to stuff more food into his mouth

Somewhat irritated by the man's arrogance Kate walked up to Antonio and prodded him in the chest with her finger.
"You know, I really don't like you. You are not much fun. First you accuse poor little A of being a blood sucking monster when clearly he just wants to eat chocolate and now you think you can order me around? If anyone is going to die it should be you Mr High and mighty." She said vigorously and stuck out her tongue at him.
"Kate? What are you doing? You can't go around making brash accusations like that." Markus said deeply concerned, quickly backing away from Antonio.
"He is definitely a vampire, Markus. It is clear as day, don't worry I know what I am doing." Kate replied nodding to herself.
Markus eyes went wide and he backed up even further.
"Yes, yes it is all clear to me now, his posture, his gaze, his words, he could definitely be a vampire! Or just a self entitled nobleman, my dear, you have no evidence and if he isn't a vampire...?"
Kate shook her head trying to clear Markus out and keep control of their body.
"No, I am right trust me. Even if he is not a vampire, I don't like him. Surely that's enough reason to kill him." She suddenly looked up at everyone else standing around as if just realising they were there. "Well don't you think so?" She asked cheerfully, her eyes a startling vivid blue.

Karl turned slowly his lip pulling back to reveal a small array of decaying teeth. Pointing one of his scarred and mangled fingers he simply said "You...."

Vote: Bounce/Markus/Kate

Mihael chuckled deeply as he watched the paranoia in the room rise. He took a new bar of chocolate out of his pocket and slowly unwrapped it meticulously.

"Maybe people's memories are not as good due to the stress, but a moment ago I was criticised for making assumptions about what a vampire is capable, now we're all assuming that barricades and watching things will help." he shook his head sadly as he balanced the corner of the bar on his finger, spinning it slowly.

"You also assume the vampire is going to strike again, but I agree on this point. The only way the vampire/vampires will make it out of here alive, if these wards are to be trusted, is for him/them to gain a majority of the vote that we all have to kill each other. As I said a long time ago, to remind you.

We need to sleep, vampires don't."

"We could watch each other sleep, but if there were two vampires, one could pretend to sleep and the other could kill the 'watcher' so that's useless."

He looked up from under his hair, dark hooded eyes gleaming brightly.

"The only way to find the vampire will be talking to him/them and looking for lies. And...." he shuffled his hair and hid his face, almost in shame. "And this theory I have in the works right now. I am truly sorry I need to wait to tomorrow to tell you, but I have to if I want it to be certain fact."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Antonio frowned as if confused. "My Lady ... erm ... Good Sir ... Whatever. I make a recommendation that could save your life and you cast it back at me as an accusation of being an undead creature? I will not apologise for how I am; I have been brought up amongst the nobility as the more sensible part of your psyche realises - it is how I was raised to act." He took his feet off the table and placed his elbows there instead, hands clasped, and gazed over them at the man-woman.
"As for my posture ... I was casually sitting in a chair; that is vampiric how? My words? Just those of a nobleman wanting to survive. I have never been much of a fighter; words are my weapons. Again, I make no apologies. However, if you want to place yourself in the easy grasp of a vampire because of your base, carnal urges rather than following the course of common sense, I of course cannot stand in your way."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Mihael, hunched over still, swept his hair aside and glanced at Antonio, a brief flash of a smile showing deathly pale teeth.

"Come on now Mr Veneziia, no need to be worried that you've been voted for." he chuckled. He looked down distractedly and broke some sqaures off, starting to make a small tower before eating it from the top.

"And you should be thankful I'm not so spiteful as to vote for you in some sort of revenge." he added evilly.

"If no one else votes you'd be dead at the end of the day if I did, after all." he added with an unnatural smile as he ate square after square.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Karl moved to stand next to Antonio, tossing his dirty muscled arm over the mans shoulder " Us men uv honnor gotta stick together ye?"

At this point a large grey rat dragged itself out of one of Karl's overcoat pockets and tried to make a dash for the dark corner of the room. Saddly it was not as fast as Karls boot. " Got yer yah lil bastard.... And ta think I though we was friend"s
