Harry has been very clear - VC are next. AFAIK he's never been wrong, I think he's more or less GW's official rumour leaker.
So at this point I'm fully expecting the next VC book by january the very latest. Seems Christmas will indeed be merry.

It probably was going to be the year of cavalry and blood bowl. GWs people have been known to come up with ideas, plan them out, and then change those plans.

Maybe it was, but this time he's backed up by Hastings and another rumour 'name'.

From what I undestand Harry seems to have an art department source...While Hastings actually is in the minis department...
Hastings rumour have a high percentage of accuracy. Anyway lovely news nonetheless.
The black coach dual kit has a somewhat siege engine kinda smell...
Wonder how many ppl remember that WD article on Zombie pirates...Had a big cannon nessy :)

'Big Bertha' yep! :) Loved those two articles, I even got a couple of games in with the list.

If the Official rules in the White Dwarf were a lead up to another book then I don't think that Raising will be nerfed at all, in fact I think it hints at a stronger raising aspect.

The Ghoul Kings Ravenous Horde
"The army contains an impressive number of infantry units, of which the Zombies and even the Ghouls can be increased in size before the battle begins in earnest"

Doesn't seem the image you want to enforce before you spam the shit out of it.:zombie:

You are right. Other knights... i mean...riders..... are coming instead :P
So, we're not getting any new Black Knights with the initial release. For what it's worth, they might be completely gone from the army. After all we have the Blood Knights now.

Later hints
I'd bet for a unit many people use but nobody buys.

flesh golems....
indicate that 'Flesh Golems' will be mounted by Zombies, so the rumoured new riders are... Zombies. Who knows, but the speculation is fun.

I am not an official rumour leaker.
No one at GW tells me anything. GITS!
I do not work in the art department.
I am a school teacher. I teach autistic children.
... and Just for the record Hastings does not work for them either. He works on oil rigs.

I never said anything about a year of cavalry that was some other idiot and I did my best to throw water on that rumour and the poster who was just making stuff up.

The black coach kit is not a remake of the existing black coach and it is dual kit.
So much like other recent releases you will be able to build two quite different things.
The other thing is NOT a siege engine.

The riders are not black knights ... they are also something new.

The monsterous infantry are obviously something new but they are unlike the monsterous infantry of any army.

So lots of new entries in the book lots of new models.
If life got any better ... I couldn't live with myself.

Exciting times ahead for Vampire Counts

All the best,
Harry

I'm excited... I hope Skeletons will be good again in the new book. With this army book Ghouls are just plain better than Skeletons, and when the 8th edition came out, the rest of my Skeletons just "died" and were forgotten.

Please don't lynch me, but in my honest opinion I think playing competitive VC is a bit boring with this book - it's all about hordes of Ghouls, Grave Guards and Wraiths. All my magic phases are used to get VDM or Pit of Shades to go through.

I hope the new book will change things... Skeletons will be good again, summoning new units has a bigger part in the game and the classical idea of Zombies and Skeletons raising from their graves will not be forgotten. Also, getting rid out of a couple of ridiculous magic items could balance things out well.

I'm already waiting the new book! :)

- Cheers, Skarsnik.

Awesome, simply awesome. It looks like some well needed variety is soon to be injected into the VC lists. I love my VC, but it's been depressing not being able to build viable armies with large skeleton/zombie units. even choices like spirit hosts, dire wolves and bat swarms have fallen away. (I am talking competition lists for the most part) I can't wait to see the end of the mono build. With the treatment given to the last three books, it looks like everyone is headed for mid-tier wit a variety of competitive builds. I hope this trend continues. I wonder how our vampire powers and magic items will be altered? I'd say we're in for a hefty cut there.

The new units are maddeningly intriguing. What's so new and crazy about the flesh golems? What's the other choice in the black coach kit? What's different about the black knights?

Happy days!

You seem to know alot for a school teacher who doesnt work for GW...:innocent:

And we should all be glad of the fact at least some body knows whats going on since we no longer get a black box any more. :mad2:

I I find myself hoping and I can only prey not in vein for the return of blood lines but as it has not been mentioned that Fell Bats, Bat Swarms and Spirit hosts just don't get cut all together but have new rules and get re modeled.

as great as this sounds. it's highly unlikely to happen. from a reliable source, i know that 40k is getting a new rule set next year, with Necrons being the 1st army to get upgraded. Fantasy will be put on the back burner as GW tries to get the 40k books up to date. next fantasy release will be chaos [can't remember if it'll be daemons or warriors]

Yeah, I believe it is already rumoured that they have some kind of Necron release coming this year (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318668 ) but that doesn't mean they aren't doing VC in January/Febuary. Especially given that some current VC kits (The battalion box most notably) are already disappearing from stores. Say what you like about rumourmongers but you can't dispute that kind of hard evidence. New VC are either coming soon or GW has decided to stop selling them :)

Maintain excitement levels!

Mmmm.

Well never one to poo poo a reliable source ...

Whilst much of what you say is accurate ... There is a bunch of stuff done and planned for release for 40K ... it does not mean there is nothing done and planned for release for Fantasy.

There is stuff done for Chaos. But they are not the next fantasy army release.

All the best,
Harry

Well, I didn't know Harry had an account here, or even read these forums. Good to see you around in our little corner of the fantasy webverse :)

How can you be sure this poster is the same harry from warseer? He makes vague comments about what is next (never really saying yes or no by his own admission). He claims he is a teacher, but also that he has reliable information on the GW schedule. But then he says he is not official.

The only certainty these days is that GW have really locked down the leak of info and stuff really is being sprung on us the customers at the last minute. Presumably this is not to piss us off, but to make us buy the latest release immediately without waiting for what's next. As if we are all as dumb as the 12 year olds they are aiming at these days.

We're not that dumb, right?

All the best,

Harry. xD

Mmmm. I can see this going south in a hurry.
Nothing like being called a liar on the interwebs to brighten your day. :D

I am the same Harry.
I would have thought my folksy style of posting gave me away. :D

I would have thought the vagueness alone of my posts was enough to prove I am the same person. :D

and if not that just the huge number of smiley faces. :D

However as I would have bet zombies you (or someone else) were going to post something like this I have posted some of my painted Vampire counts stuff in the Painting forum here in the "show us your .... " threads.

You will find the same photos on my long running ... "This week I have mostly been painting .... " thread over at Warseer.

... and if further proof were needed. Click on my name and check out my posts from 2007.
I brought you rumours back then like the writer of the book, the plague cart, including details like zombies being impaled on the hafts and Brian Nelson being responsible for the gribbly contents whilst other forums were still arguing over which book was next and whether the rumour of a plague cart was true or not.

I have always been here ... waiting for the right time to rise once more. :D

I am a teacher.
My information is not always 100% accurate simply because I do not have a direct source inside GW
... but I win more than I loose. :D
I am not 'official' in any way at all. I am pretty sure it p!sses some people off at GW that some folks get as much right as they do.

They have tried to keep things quiet (and there are good business reasons for this) but rumours still get out. The biggest difference I have seen is that rumour posters (who are generally big GW fans) are keeping more to themselves and not getting too far ahead .... mostly.
I don't get as much as I used to because I became a deputy then a Head teacher and I simply don't have the time to chase rumours the way I used to a few years ago. (Or sadly to paint as much as I used to).

I am talking about VC now because I believe they are coming soon.
Otherwise I would be talking about Bretonnians over at the Round Table.

I have not come here to fall out with anyone.
Just to get excited about VC with a great forum.
(I did the same thing over at the Ogre stronghold leading up to the Ogres release).

All the best,
Harry .... Honest. :D

Hey Harry, and Welcome.

I know the answer to this will probably be something along the lines of "to early to know" but do you have any hints as to whether (did I spell that right?) the troops selection will favour Skeletons over Ghouls or whether Ghouls will return to a skirmish formation in line with the 8th edition rule set?

Cheers

Aaron.:zombie:
