Thank you! I'm just playing around with colors and learning stuff as I go. (which we all are, I believe) I'll try to describe how I did the wings. I use Vallejo paints and my washes are 'old' so I will use just the names printed on them as I have no idea what the new range from Citadel is like.

I basecoated the wings with 2 layers of Dead Flesh, followed by a thick layer of Thraka Green wash. Then I drybrushed the highlight areas with Bonewhite and added another layer of wash with Leviathan Purple. After the wash is dry, I used about 2/3 thinned down Dead Flesh and started painting the wings around the darkest parts (the purple 'holes') with a fine detail brush. I progressed through the leather area, working my way each section at a time. This took the most time, as I needed to be careful about the direction of the brush while painting. Up and down, no sideways movement.

After that, I did a mix of 50/50 Dead Flesh/Bonemeat and again watered it about 2/3 down. Then I picket up the highlight areas. After that was done, I added a couple of layers of 1/2 watered down Ogryn Flesh wash on the sides of each wing-section to darken them up.

I'm thinking of using the same scheme with my Fell Bats, as I like how the green and purple play from underneath the rotten upper layer of paint. :konrad:

Made a little progress today when I finished painting the 10-strong zombie unit filler that I've been working on. I've painted it little by little with my kids (well, techically they've been doing other stuff while I paint but still...)

Now I have 20 zombies finished. Yay! (Well, I cheated a bit as I only used about 1,75 zombies for this filler...)

Thanks for the comments! Always nice to get some feedback. The rest of my zombies are still in their sprues, so I will assemble the next group of 5 sometime in the future.

My next project is to finish up painting the Dragon/Terrorgheist. The rider for it I will again do later, as I hope to finish the Dragon before I start working on my super-secret Golden Bat -project. With lots of work and if the stars are aligned, I will be able to finish the thing before the end of July. This might be a long shot, because I haven't even ordered the parts yet. (Yeah, I'm breaking the rule of not buying stuff again, but hey, let's just toss it overboard from now, OK?)

If I don't manage to finish it by the time the window to submit GB entries closes, then I'll just post tons of pictures here anyway.

Finally finished the Dragon today. Took a lot of photos to show you some detail, so this will be prolly my most pic intensive update. I learned a trillion things when doing this and I'm really happy about the end result as this is my first ever Dragon or any model on this scale.

When I got the mini from my friend some time ago, I decided I wanted myself a Zombie Dragon that isn't in the last stages of decomposition, but something more fresh. So I came up with a fluff, that one badass Vampire Lord fights some lameass High Elf Prince, defeats him in a duel and raises his dragon as a trophy. So I decided to I'd just to the 'undead' part by a sickly color scheme, a nearly decapitating wound to the throat and some maggots pouring out from the wound and from the dragon's mouth.

Then I decorated the base with some leftover from the dragon's kit and the vulture is from the Tomb Kings skull catapult kit. The bird is most likely wondering what the heck it is doing there, when it's winter and all...

This bugger was really hard to photo because of it's size, but here's the pics; first some full body shots and then some detail...

Also, that bird definitely looks confused, and kinda indifferent at the same time...fun touch.

@ Chaos-Born, I sculpted them from green stuff. I played around with different ideas, I even considered using uncooked noodles. Then I just ended up buying a better set of sculpting tools and playing around with green stuff.

I think I might need to check the lighting angle a bit when photoing, as some of the whites burned too much. The maggots are a lot darker too. Hmmmh... I'm using a tripod and a long exposure time so perhaps I could easily tone down the light I use. Well, I'll try that next time.

Hahaha. Daoshi, high as f***, being too nice and s***.

Now that I've finsihed this, I have a clean conscience for entering as I don't have any big projects in the works. Just a ton of smaller waiting for my attention.

I'm still not exactly sure if I will make a push for the entry. I will tell you a week from now, if I ordered the parts or not. It's a big project and involves me going a lot into territory I haven't been before. (Modeling and painting-wise.)

Thank you all for the kind words. It seems that completing stuff just makes me pick up speed with finishing my army quicker as I want to spend more and more time painting. I also need to raise the standard a bit after every mini I do to keep you interested.

The maggots in the mouth are a great touch!! Dental hygene seems like it would be low on a list of priorities for a zombie dragon! Whats up next? Another big project or some smaller stuff?

@ Blackbard, I think I'll be finishing up my zombie unit. I have 9 more to add to bring the total in the unit to 29 and with the Necro in place, it will be a unit of 30 models. I finished assembling the rest of the zombies yesterday, so now I just need to slap some paint on them. I was thinking of making a step-by-step tutorial-type-thingie with the rest of the zombies. Anyone interested?

I'm also thinking about building myself a lightbox to improve the quality of my photos a bit.

Well, this week's project is to finish up the zombie unit and I've decided to do the step-by-step tutorial about them. It's a lot more fun this way and gives me the excuse to photo and update more. I will post my progress after each phase and describe the paints used and what I've done. In the end I will also describe how I build my snow-bases.
