RE: Questing Vamps
@Santawraith: The vampire is actually a bard model, though I do have intentions of turning the vampire hunter model you are thinking of into a vampire! The perversion of its original cause is something that strikes me as very cruel irony.
@Count Lasombra: Yeah the shield needs to be washed to make it in keeping with the other shields I have done. I actually painted her shield while I rules judging for the
40K ard Boyz earlier this year and it was such a long time between painting sessions that i had forgotten i wasn't washing the shields. I'm kind of glad I forgot though, because I think the washed look is much better.
@Dogmar: These Knights are additions to the existing unit, only five right now. I am considering doing another box of them so I can run an 8 man unit and have 2 more horses for characters.
The horses are actually WIP in that picture. The black is a two stage wash with Vallejo Black wash and then a heavy wash of GW Asurmen Blue and Leviathan purple. I wanted to get that glossy black oily look for the horses, then I highlighted them with a little bit of Astronomicon Grey. I did that first because washes really need to be done on a pristine white base coat.
@Nikostratus: The Varghulf needs to be on a 50mm base if I recall correctly, right now I have one one on a 40mm base because thats all I had at the time. Eventually he will be migrated over to a proper base.
@all: Thanks for all the compliments, makes it a lot easier to paint knowing there are other people out there enjoying my work!
And now for the updates!
I had a very productive day yesterday, got about 6 really good hours of painting in at the store. The horses are now about 80% complete.
I also finished Barbarossa's shield and got the decals on it. Of course I didn't see the huge black smudge until I went to take pictures today, so I am going to have to fix that.
I also took some much improved pictures of the Vampire Necromancer Garghoul and zombies. I ran them through my meager Photoshop skills to clean up and sharpen the images and I think I made them look much closer to reality now.
