Have you thought about painting semi-pro? There's plenty of painters on the web whose stuff is not as good as yours.

Well i guess there is nothing left for me to say that hasn't been already said so once again great work all around nice basing beatifull colours nice contrasts great overall effect and looking army. May i make one suggestion? I feel a bit unsure about the grave guard blades i would tone them down a bit i think they would seem more realistic then.(just a suggestion) Bravo overall great work!

Thanks for the suggestion, but in real life the blades really pop and distinguish themselves on the table. The GG are known to have wight blades that have such properties of glowing and such. Just my rendition I guess

I pulled another painting blitz tonight and launched these guys out!

I now only have the Corpse Cart, a Countess, a Necromancer, and a Wight King left!

Looking to knock the rest out very shortly. I love being on painting blitzes!

Those wraiths are very nicely done. How are you doing the skulls, they seem to have a bit more of a hue to them than the standard white? Keep up the good work

Hey there! Thanks for the compliments .

The skulls are done with in this way:

Dark brown base
2 light tan coats
1 lighter bone coat
Apply brown wash and you're done!

I hate plain wight skulls; these guys are ancient and their bones should show it.

I made some progress tonight. I redid the eyes and blades of the Wraiths:

And I got the Wight King done!!

Only the Countess, Corpse Cart, and Necromancer left to do!

Red, you bring truth to the idea that a 'great paint job can make a sub-par model great, while a sub-par paint job on a great model will still just be sub-par'.

Great work just as usual, jake. The wight blade is awesome, I'll try your technique on my graveguard and maybe redo the whole unit's blades. One little point of criticism though: The accents on the shoulder pads are a little too harsh imo, it would look better if you smoothened it up a bit like you did on your CMON liche king. Still amazing what a good paintjob does to an outdated sculpt. Keep going.

The wight kings axe head is fantastic it actually looks like a real piece of jade, making it look really magical.
Armour looks great aswel.

As for the armor, I'm in the middle of redoing the whole mini so I'll be sure to smooth it out a bit more for the armor bits. Thanks for pointing that out!

Krell's axe will be black here shortly and will have more red in his armor as he's a former Khorne warrior. Plus, he'll look a bit more dark and grungy too.

Speaking of Khorne, guess what my next army is going to be......

Sounds good. Actually I always wanted some WoC myself, but was never really about to start them... maybe as soon as my VC done... which might take a while. And then again I should redo my woodies first as there are some very poor paintjobs in it, seeing that it was my very first army ever!

Anyway, somewhat of a pity that you're redoing this beautiful model. Your suggestions sound well thought and like an overall improvement though.

I've had to keep my camera at work for the past couple of days since we're doing a shoot for some installation/product stuff.

Yes, indeed, WOC!

WOC was my very first army way back in the day and I've been poked and prodded by my local centre to get playing again. Since we have about six VC armies, eight HE armies, Lord knows how many Skavens, and a ton of Dwarves, I thought someone needs to represent the Ruinous Powers.

I thought about doing Empire, but I can't stand the "goody tooshoos", so I'm going with Chaos! This weekend I'm hoping to have:

60 warriors of chaos
12 knights
1 lord
6 hounds

I think I'll have a pretty solid base to begin with. You can bet your ass that's what I'll be painting in this thread I'm still deciding on what "theme" for basing I want to use. Snow could be fun, but if only done the right way. I'm thinking about using the left over pointy-eared gits that I have and make it so that my WOC are slaughtering them on their bases. Could be fun

I'm looking to include a warshrine in my army. I was thinking of using a mammoth (LOTR model), a rhinox, or a stegadon for a base idea and Chaos them up.

Any ideas?

My personal tastes with be the rynox or mammoth. As it is the far north it is hard to place a stegadon there. Just personal thoughts.

Plus if you do a mammoth and ever get to using forgeworld rules you can field it as a war mammoth, as you seen in my plog a chaos up mammoth looks awsome. I am sure if you built it right you could do the rynox the same way.

My nurgle warshrine is going to be a corpse cart pulled by some zombie horses(yet to aquire)

Looking forward to what you do id love to see it no matter what is choosen.

well thanks It was done by a dear freind of mine.

I got a spare ryhnox hmmm I think Im gonna try to convert something from one. I like the idea of using the rhinox as a chariot honestly. Since the chaos chariots are heavy built for line breaking a rhinox would fit well. Especially with a northern tribe that using more animals then technology.

One thing to think of is the elephant is huge. where the rhinox is closer to the size of a chariot. I have some rhinox bit's from when I was building ogre calvery.

What size base would be best for the elephant? I plan on having two of these shrines running around if necessary. I think the very imagery of me having two large models like that will cause a bit of mental panic for whomever I play as well. It'll be fun

Ummm I never planed on basing mine. But I took 4 chariot bases and put them under him and it looks ok. When the battery of the camara is charged ill show ya. But I would say 4 chariot bases or a movement tray. Like I said he is a very large beastie. I wanted the forgeworld one but cant rationlize the cost.
