RE: Rising an army from the dead...

Nice stuff that reminds me of a lot of the armies I used to see years ago. The classic figures are great, giving the whole force a unique look you don't see much anymore.

Brings back a lot of memories.... my own Vampire counts force was originally built under the 4th edition rules (I think.... darn the fog of time!!), so I have a lot of these old guys myself.

Ahh.... and some of the old Heartbreaker Hobbies and Maurader metals by the same sculptors too....

Now I'm just going to have to pull out the army and take a look.... ;)

RE: Rising an army from the dead...Updated 19.12.

Well, long time since last post, real life caught me with it's affairs and Christmas are coming so much more then usual home activities... I barely have time for anything hobby related but I managed to rise again my old skeleton horsemen unit. It is now Black Knigths unit I think. I don't like these old models... They are the same as foot version, just sitting on skeletal steeds. When I painted them - it was back in 1990 I think - it was the only one version of plastic skeleton steed, so they look basicaly the same. Skeletons doesn't fit on steeds well too but still... I have a rather good memories of this unit...:) I have two or three boxes of new Black Knights, so I will definitely paint them. I will use old models till 10 new will be painted. Temporary solution but bettern then none I think.
In works - mounted necromancer and mounted BK standard bearer.

Another small update, this time necrarch on foot painted by my brother for my newly risen army. This miniature was started few years ago and after having upper half painted was put on hold till last week. I made just a base, to fit with rest of the army.

That vampire looks superb. Very characterful and nice and smooth blending all the way through. Your brother is very talented.

It is nice to see so many old models find good use in an army. Keep it up.

Fantastic paint job on the vampire. I have always loved that model and seeing yours makes me want to go out and get him.

RE: Rising an army from the dead...Updated10.05

Very long time with no posts... Well, I'm a little busy with other projects and life;)
Still, first five newly painted zombies for my army. Old and very old miniatures, very nicely sculpted, much better in my opinion then later released fat zombies. I've got about 20 of these, about 10-15 slightly newer fatties and some 50 relatively new plastic ones.
Models were dipped and highlighted, more photos and some descriptions on my blog.

Wow! I love the colors and smoothness of these models, especially the vampire one. How are you painting them so smoothly and what color undercoat do you use? I've been using washes and inks lately and I'm starting to get the technique down pretty well.

Great work so far and I look forward to seeing more and how you paint your models!

RE: Rising an army from the dead...Updated 26.05

i love your army so much !!!
its the colors man! they're so nice to look at.. the way you painted the skeleton heads on the shields is amazing, the result is like you're using decals instead of regular painting.. and that vampire on foot are you kidding me.. your brother must be a pro painter.. its stunning.. simply gorgeous .. looking forward for more !

RE: Rising an army from the dead...Updated 26.05

Ummm.... Skulls actually ARE really old GW decals. I just touched them here and there...:) And yes, my bro isn't maybe the fastest painter out there, but he paints rather well I think...

Great work so far mate, I'm a big fan of the older models myself, so I'll be glued to this one!xD

RE: Rising an army from the dead...Updated 13.06

Another small update. As I'm repainting many old models at the moment, there is not that much to show... I decided to paint another vampire as a kind of rest from old skeletons... It is a mini from mid eighties, GW of course. I think it is still available in classic range. More musing on the blog ofc.
In works - skeletons with scythes remodelled to hand weapon and shield, some graves, spirit hosts...
