Thanks! I managed to glue ribs together as they should, thank Nagash.. I painted bone-areas like I painted my skeleton warriors, base ushabti bone, wash using vallejo green ink/brown ink (50/50), drybrush ushabti bone and highlights ushabti/white (30/70) (but I will probably add pure white highlight later on). Wings are a big part of this model, and I will use all my talent to make them look good. Soon I will be able to glue this monster on his base! Altho I don't know if it is harder or easier to paint it when it's on its base.

If the underbelly is painted, I think that he's easier to paint when glued to the base. The base itself is big and a little unwieldly, but at least I one doesn't need to hold the bat itself. And that's if you keep the wings unglued to the body - they cover a great lot of stuff and pose a risk of sticking in your eye when you're not careful ;) If you glue the legs and the hands to the base (determining their right position first, that is ;) ) and glue the wings last, the rest should be easier :)

I need to try vallejo inks someday, can you tell how they compare to the GW washes?

@Borgnine Thanks for the tips. I guess I should glue it on, I have done mistakes touching this model with dirty fingers (ushabti bone colored fingerprints on his belly..)
I don't really use GW washes, but at least comparing to Seraphim Sepia (citadel) Vallejo inks seem to be a little thicker. But other vallejo paints are thinner, cheaper and in better bottle (I think it's more clever to squeeze the paint out rather than taking it with brush straight out of the paint can). I highly recommend Vallejo products for everyone.

Ok, I promise the next update will be the finished Terrorgheist xD

But this is where we're at, still the skin highlights and wings and various other things (claws, tail) are work in progress.

Getting closer to finishing it I see ;) Keep up the good work. At this point I must say that I am really a fan of the base - it's really a cold, dry and unwelcome wasteland, very nice!

And a question - seeing as other similiar bits are done, have you forgotten about these small spines on it's... thighs? or do you plan to keep them skin colored? I am asking, because I myself kept forgetting about these... :innocent:

@Borgnine Thanks! I like the base also, altho I'm surprised that other people like it too :D Since it is kinda boring, but it fits my army. And yes, I noticed the small spines on his legs when I had already painted all the other bone-areas, so I then decided to paint them skin colored, but that's not too bad mistake in my opinion :)

Okay, I have actually finished this. Took me a week :D So as I said, this was the hardest yet funniest model I've painted... like ever? I'm not 100% happy with the result, and I might go back to do some black lining on certain parts, but I am 100% happy that I finished this monster. I know that's a boring color scheme, I've seen a lot more interesting ones before (I'm looking at you @Borgnine ), but nevertheless, here he is:

(after looking at these pictures I noticed the hanging skulls are not finished... fffff)

Well, the color scheme may be classic, but there's nothing wrong with being classic - and it's well executed. Bone looks very good, with the combination of light and dark colors and the rest is also nice :)

Interesting concept with mixing both of the ZD/TG riders  Isn't he falling over often? Doesn't look very balanced ;)

@Borgnine Well thank you :D About the vampire lord. He isn't going to fall over, I glued two old Finnish marks (10 pennies) under his base since they fit perfectly. Plus the stone and a metal piece under the stone (not showing). The base is quite heavy :D

@Sessioni I just skimmed across your comment about Borgnine's TG compared to yours and you made it sound like it was a disaster. It's actually good mate. I'm a big fan of the colours you've taken up on it. Nice work.

As for that winged vampire, he is awesome! A pretty original conversion idea too, I haven't seen that done before. He's gonna look cool painted up.

@Farmer7574 Thanks for encouraging words man. I guess self-criticism is strong in me then :D I haven't seen that kind of vampire lord conversion either, and I'm kinda surprised about that, because it is so "obvious" and easy conversion too. But since I already have a "proper" ghoul king and a a riding vampire lord from the ZD/TG-box, I had to think about something different.

How's your army (OG/VC) progressing? Read from another thread that summer and summer-activities are priority No.1 for you right now ;)

@Sessioni I'd planned to finish up my OG army by the end of July but I've still got 5 remaining squigs to finish up for that. I finished up some hoppers too but haven't bothered doing good pictures yet.

The VC army hasn't been started but I've asked about & played around with loads of paint schemes and some basing ideas. September is going to bring a welcome change of cooler weather so that's when I'll probably start getting stuff done again.

That flying vamp is something I wouldn't have thought of and, quite frankly, better than the winged vampire lord they offer. Great work on that one, he is full of awesomeness. I might have to pick your brains on how you did it in the future.

@Farmer7574 I'm so looking forward to see your VC army getting started! And thanks! I added a little something for the vamp today, I think they fit right in:

edit. okay, the smaller bat looks a little weird, I should twist its left wing a bit

Today I finished my vampire lord, maybe some minor flaws here and there which I'm probably going to fix. But anyways, here he is

And for a little perspective, here he is with his minions

Images are a little crappy, but good enough.

Thanks both! Yeah, when I thought I was finished, I went back and added another highlight to his skin, but it's still a little hmm.. well maybe not boring, but I know what you mean.
@Borgnine They are separate bats from Reaper bat swarm -blister. The bigger one is greenstuffed on the pole and it sticks, and well, the smaller is just glued on. I'm afraid that the smaller one will fall someday. That guy is very painful to transport.

Okay, today I got some random stuff. I'm pretty exited about this. Some dude was selling old plastic bretonnian knights of the realm and bowmen, I like the old models so I bought them. I guess he hasn't touched warhammer in a looong time, as he tossed something else along the knights.

@Farmer7574 Any idea which model is this?

You got those dragons with the knights, or maybe they are something else? If so, that's well beyond awesome! I love such random deals, one can later come up with all manner of different plans for the minis ;)

And the single guy looks like a very old orc model, but I am not able to pinpoint from when exactly.

Great deal mate. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Expecting some awesome Black Knights soon lol. That one model looks like some kind of Goblin with a bow. I love when I get old figures from Ebay and someone painted them with nail polish and spray paint lmao.

Ready for some painting!

Definitely awesome, was he just the left overs from the TG kit's riders? Looks like it mostly, although I can't quite place where those wings are from (Harpy?)

It's certainly a creative and unique use for the extra parts, quite nice. Although the one sad thing is it really looks to me like (HIS RIGHT) leg has a twisted ankle at that angle :ghost: Of course that's a completely silly critique, the model is still bomb ass. That rider's armor is so well detailed, it's great to see it be the center of the model rather than relegated to simply being ON a dragon where it can hardly stand out like it should!

I got the Egrimm van Horstmann (chaos dragon) with the knights, but the old Zombie Dragon came from a different guy (it cost me 20 euros). Still 40 euros for big ass chaos dragon, about 12 knights of the realm including two metal champions, 20 bowmen, 5th edition vampire lord + some randomness (16 oop high elf spearmen/bowmen, 2 wizards, that old orc, and a lot of weird bits) is a good price for me. I have such a great plan for the zombie dragon, as I'm going to put her on a large base as it should nowadays. The dragon is that small it gives a lot of room for some diorama on the base.

The knights of the realm are "unfortunately" for my Bretonnian army :D I have been buying models around, but I want to finish most of my Vampire Counts before starting the new army. I have about ~2500 points of bretonnians laying around. Well I know it is not a goblin as its base says "ORC" :D

Yeah man the vamp is heavy! Great! Model and paintjob, both killer!

Thank you kindly, Theerteen!

Yes, he is from the TG/ZD -kit. I have both Zombie Dragon and Terrorgheist, so I have a proper Ghoul king and riding Vampire lord already, and that gave me an idea to make something different from the parts. But really, very simple conversion. The wings are from Vargheists/Crypt Horror -box, there are smaller wings along with the big proper wings. I have seen somebody painted his armour white! (check out the show us your zombie dragon -thread) And that is an awesome way to make him stick out even if riding on a Zombie dragon. His leg sure looks a little funny on the picture, but I wanted him to be like ehm.. "swirling" in the wind, flying around in different directions, almost like kicking the air for speed or something :D Here's a (outdated) pic from a different angle:

Everybody, thanks for the comments! It is always nice to get critique and praise for something I give a lot of my spare time. It is you guys who keep me going :)
