Sharkbelly's Projects

[Sharkbelly]

True enough! I'll have to think about that.

I added a few bad guys this morning. The Sea Hag and two Kelpies.

[Menkeroth]

Lovely miniatures! Great retinue for the admiral or for dioramas and such stuff in order to use it for bases and ships.

[Borgnine]

Nice collection you have there! I commend your persistence in finding fitting minis Pirate Ogres from Titan Forge would fit your army perfectly!

[Sharkbelly]

True, although I have an army of pirate ogres already!

Two more up today: the Turtle Man and Barnacle Bill.

[Menkeroth]

Turtle man is inspiring! What company is that?

[Sharkbelly]

Reaper, and the figure is called Chhaya. I was inspired to pick one up when we found a sea turtle skull on the beach one time that was as big as a human's...

[Borgnine]

True, although I have an army of pirate ogres already!

Well, it could always be bigger

I never knew there are so much nautically themed minis in the world! Barnacle Bill looks so cool! I would paint that pincer red, but that color also works well in drawing the eye, good focal point

[benvoliothefirst]

Well THIS is my new favorite thread! Bonus points for including TWO Battle Masters ogres and having them posed and painted completely differently, looks like two different models.

I'm excited to see how the dungeon rooms turned out!

[ElectricPaladin]

These are awesome. Now I also want a pirate-themed army...

[Sharkbelly]

Thanks for the feedback, all.

I finally finished the first of three sea elves in the group.

[Borgnine]

Nice color scheme, fits her well as a sea elf

[Sharkbelly]

And now for the bad guy: the goroloth/aboleth.

[Menkeroth]

Uhu! That's marvelous! Good old aboleths from D&D! Where have bought this?

[Sharkbelly]

Reaper miniatures. And since it's one of their Bones models, it was pretty cheap.

[Farmer7574]

@Sharkbelly Nice minis, I especially like your choice of colours on the Sea Hag & Kelpies. Cool stuff!

[Sharkbelly]

Thanks! The final two are done.

Here are the remaining sea elves:

[Borgnine]

Nicely done! I don't know how to feel about the fact that they have different color schemes, but each one of them looks great, the last one is probably my favourite

[Sharkbelly]

Thanks! I feel like some riskier colors worked out well. Here is a group shot of all the models together:

[Borgnine]

They fit very well together And that beach-like carpet (or is it?) with those terrain pieces (aquarium decorations?) make it even better

[Sharkbelly]

Thanks! It's a towel. I do want to eventually pick up some aquarium decorations (a sunken ship and some ruined columns?) to go with them.

In the meantime, over the summer I picked up some spear tips. I'll be working on redoing a bunch of my spearmen (ship's crew armed with boarding pikes) over the next few weeks. Here's the test model:

[Menkeroth]

Not bad! What company makes them?

[Sharkbelly]

Games Workshop. They are free company militia with spears added. (I have around 100 of them in my pirate army,)

Here is the rest of the unit with the new spear tips:

[Menkeroth]

Looking good! Very suitable for pirates (well, apart from spears and halberds, of course). And with full command group

[Sharkbelly]

Boarding pikes!

[Sharkbelly]

I just put the finishing touches on a small unit of harpies to round out my dark elf corsairs.

Here are the corsairs and their fearless leader.

A close-up of Lokhir Fellheart and the Sorceress.

Some River trolls that the dark elves goad into battle.

The Kharibdyss (one of the handlers did not come on this trip).

And a group shot.
