The barrels with plastic glue, the boards with super glue, and the bases textured with two-part epoxy (a cheap one that I buy at the hardware store.)

Ha, good old illithid! DnD monsters are always popular. Great work! Will he be one of the monsters your pirates will encounter? Illithids rarely live at sea though I recall Dominions game series, in which there is R'lyeh under the sea! :D

Well, I'm thinking about running a Spelljammer campaign. So the pirates would definitely run into an Illithid. :)

I finally finished the crew for my skycutter:

Here is the Sky Helm on his own base:

Awesome! This is how I myself am painting my elves. And great miniature too, I will buy it later as well. Is it standing good and reliable on the base?

Good! And the cutter too? it looks a bit unstable to me on pictures. I want to buy it as well, but will it not fall if glued not that strong to the base?

Recently I was wondering, "where did Sharkbelly gone to?" - I guess I got used to your updates somehow ;) And on the very next day you post an update! The illithid is really nice and that skycutter even more so. That blue is really brilliant and the helmet of that Sky Helm is looking great, so shiny and impressive.

Thanks! The cutter is all plastic, so even with the two small stems it seems pretty sturdy. The Sea Helm is pinned into the cutter as well.

I decided next to do the sea chariot. It is pulled by a hippocampus and ridden by a marid. Both are from Reaper.

I base-coated the hippocampus in light blue and then washed with blue ink. For the marid, I base-coated with orange and inked with flesh wash. I'm hoping for a color somthing like coral.

A real shell and a real thread, you're inventive as always :) The 'horse' is also a very interesting model

@Sharkbelly Awesome stuff you've done since I last took a look. I like the wreckage bases, simple yet brilliant. Great 'chariot' too, probably the first seahorse chariot I've ever seen...

Exactly, which is really cool and I'm doing the same - I intend on merging the sea guard with the corsairs under the command of a fleetmaster and sea helm for a start, also with blues and maybe silver for weapons. It suits them well as the guard is more defensive while corsairs are made for assaults - after all, long spears, long armor and tower shields don't suit close combat in confined quarters at all - it's a place for short armor, cutlasses, axes, daggers and crossbows, especially on a ship's deck, although there are some exceptions like the Spanish, who used to take their tercios on board for protection and that worked.

Anyway, do you plan to add a fleetmaster to your fleet?
