Love that we can follow along your 3D sculpting journey as well as your painting log xd I'm a bit meh on the current Ushabti sculpts so looking forward to see how yours turn out. Have you considered doing something like a patreon? Might be worth it if you're going to do a lot of the TK army! One of the common complaints I see is just the basic TK skellies, they would certainly benefit from an update!

Have some more :D not muuuch progress, but starting to figure out the skirt situation

I can't commit enough time consistently to do a release every month, even if I outsource presupports (which I do often, because I am slooooow at it and not that good either lol)

Are they monopose or will you be able to position the arms etc?
I'm a sucker for making my life harder so I do my kits modular :D

Just showing them off with the crossed arms pose because thats the most iconic for me, and it looks more interesting on wip photos than the arm in A-pose

There are ball/socket joints at the shoulders, base of neck, and belt, so it will be somewhat poseable. I will make a couple different leg and arm poses too.

And im planning to have dual wield weapons, two handed weapons, and bows.

If you do end up printing these, you have to pay the show-me-tax and show me once they are painted up :P

Raven Torrid Unas the slayer
Yuuuuup same here. Even in tournaments, as long as you tell me what the thing is, i wouldnt care if its modelled to be more rad. Not that I do tourneys lol.

Today was leg day, made legs.

Project working time ~63 hours so far, blender file at 48 million vertices, and I still have to do 2 hand weapons and non-bow arm poses 💀😃

Oh don't worry, if I paint them I'll be posting then on here, but my skills are not anything to shout about, you'll probably cry over what I've done to your beautiful designs! 😅

Final designs look absolutely cracking - can't wait to see you print and pay them (y) Any plans for your next model?

Naaaah I love seeing people paint my models, and i dont like being judgy about people's painting :P

I have permission from David Lee to make a model based on his Nehekharan Dragon concept art, so probably that will be the next thang.

But before starting a new model, i want to paint my skellies, some shabti, and also have a second scorp partially painted, and also the kitbashed egyptified terrrorgheist....soo, yeah, sometime xD

If i hypothetically got my hands on some ghost STLs

I would turn them into sandy ghosts to use as skirmisher skellies

What do we think? I think its cool.

Yay or nay, hypothetically?

i love skellies and i love ghosts.
i'm not sure the concepts can be mixed, but it's certainly worth a try.

The initial tests are looking great Thanakhton_Emissary (y) As for the dragon....if you can do a design that's like the initial flying image I will 100% buy and print that, it would be amazing!

On the Skellie side - sandy ones could work, would have to see one painted maybe. However, skellies in general would be great for TK as the current ones are really dated. If you could come up with some decent looking posable models that would be a winner....even better if you made it so they could be either VC or TK skellies!

I added some scarabs to the sandrasps, I find they make the mental connection to the tomb kings easier haha - their heads are mostly covered by their blankies and i don't see much space to put additional decos

Also found stl bits of various egyptian weapons, and some tk-lookinh shields, they should go well.

I also figured out what to do with melee sandrasps, as melee only skirmishers arent of much use: they will be my contingent models for Phazerakt's Kanopi summons :D

Forgot to make new screenshots though :(

For the dragon, I was thinking more of a pose like that of the new Vhordrai:

But I can certainly look into a flying pose once I get around to that project.

Regarding skellies, i'm of two minds. I definitely agree that they sorely need a facelift. But I am very much not looking forward to making a kit with sooooo many pieces as I would like to make that one, if that makes sense haha

What an inspiring log. Beautiful paintjobs, concepts and sculpts. Fantastic work the Sand Ghosts is a genius idea. I saw it on the Old World FB too. Looking forward to seeing them materialise.

Thank you! :D

I went all out on the special guy of the chainrasp kit, added headdress and scarab amulet and replaced the candles with an eye symbol

Then I realized neither Phazerakt summons, nor skirmishers have the option to bring standard bearers or unit champs or anything of the like 💀

Will still paint it, rule of cool haha
