@Shadespyre I've just read your page on the herdstone and you've inspired me to nail down some kind of theme while I tie up the last few units of my OnG army and kick my VC project into gear.

Themes are good. I've actually written very little for this army since I started, although I planned every character and unit to have a name and a story. Some of those exist in my head, some don't. The project has ended up being led by the models, like the others. The fluff for my Middenheim army is much better developed, though it was all written right at the end of the project. It's now mostly buried on Warhammer-Empire.com somewhere...

Haven't seen any new minis for this project for ages, but I discovered something today that I just had to buy. I don't know quite how I am going to use it, but once I saw it I had to get one.

And I'm going to annoy you all by keeping it a secret until I work out what to do with it :devil2:

First ten of Wave 2 of my Skeleton Warriors.

The new model arrived - it's lovely, but needs some additions to make it perfect. I'll have to think about it for a while I'm afraid!

Nice work there buddy. They can now join the ranks of their ladies and go forth to kill or be killed.

I like the one on the far left. He looks like he's cheering and going to fall over at the same time.

How many skellies are going to be in your second wave?

The far-left guy is nominally the Champion. He makes more sense stood with the rest of the command group, the pose leaves room for the standard bearer! He's meant to look like he's signalling an advance or something like that.

This second wave counts-as about 60, using 40 Mantic skeletons and assorted bits and bobs. I'm going to tackle them in 10s so they don't tar-pit my painting efforts!

@Shadespyre Way to go. Doing 5 just doesn't cut it (especially when you've got that many to do) and 15 is a bit of a tar pit.

I have a bag of bits at home for about 70 odd skeletons so will be in the same boat pretty soon. It's all good though, I love painting skeletons.

Good stretch on your 40 counting as 60!

Blood Knight Banner WIP...

It's a stylistic departure from the rest of the army's banners.

Any comments or suggestions? I'm wondering whether to repeat it on the other side or go for a more "rosy" theme for balance?


In other news, splashed out some pennies on another old Grenadier kit from eBay. Very pleased to get it

@Shadespyre The banner is cool but if I were to change anything about it I'd probably go for an entirely black background and add red roses to the green vines. Maybe some thorns and a slightly darker green too.

However, what you have already done is pretty sick already!

Could do that on the other side, have sort of a inverted background colors. Black with red trim.

Great that you did both designs and not asked for a choice between the two because I wouldn't have been able to help you - both designs are top stuff!

I especially like the lighter red roses and darker background, it works very well.

@DarkRane @Shadespyre Perfect idea! The bright red on the roses would work well for the eye. Perhaps a touch of Wild Rider Red too to make the eye look wicked. I did this on my boars and they look pretty mean.

@Shadespyre Great work, as always. Your picture is a bit small mate, so it's hard to make out the details on these.

Those Mantic skeletons definitely have more dramatic poses than GW's, but I think I'm a sucker for the whole silently-marching-forward look.
