Yeah, I won't be using that rider if I can find / make a suitable female replacement (an increasingly difficult task with this army!)

Not sure about getting a chariot - I mean, who really wants an Undead Chariot nowadays anyway? What would the rules be?

Which reminds me...

Ahh, the red lacquered armor! Awesome as always :) You did a really good job with it, the only thing I'd change is that green flame - it's an awesome addition in itself, but I think it could be tilted a bit to show the speed. Still, it's rather minor. Wonderful stuff :) Also, the girls will have quite a bumpy ride through these cobblestones xD

One of the best Blood Knights I've seen ever and the chariot fits with them great!

That's a beautiful job Shadespyre! Will it fit in the Blood Dragons as a unit filler? As a standalone it'd be easy to field in AoS with homebrew rules; 2 x Blood Knights, Chariot, spear rather than lance.

@Ol'timer I think on other models this red might look a bit too Khorne-esque, I get away with it here because these minis have a different aesthetic. The bright red also fits my army fluff (of eternal youth and beauty) rather than the usual VC image of decayed splendour, where the darker scheme works so nicely.

@robtion More time than I'd imagined, given that most of the parts are off the shelf. Having a whole weekend to throw at finishing it certainly made a difference!

You certainly have a knack for painting clean and beautiful surfaces. The red with the gloss looks great and your army will be absolutely unique, I've certainly seen nothing like it. Great entry into the comp, it's a killer bunch this round, I've got to post mine tonight!!

Great unit, nice work.

Thanks! As it happens, this is the first model I've done using Tyrant Skull DRY paint, so that seems to have worked well! :)

Now I'm puzzling over what to do for the next Contest... might knock out a few more models while I think about it.

Hmmm missed it, where is the listing for the next contest theme? Thx

Perhaps if I can modify the other pair to carry shields that would make a nice set.

Meanwhile, another model ticked off my list:

Rather overdue, it would have been strange to make all those Rose Handmaidens without including my version of this model. I guess I could run her as my army's equivalent of a Strigoi vampire, which should make for some interesting fluff if I ever get back to writing it. For those with REALLY long memories, this wasn't how I envisaged the Rose Queen, by the way.

Edit: just noticed that this plot is 3 years old now...

Very interesting thing you have there with the bodyguards - they frame her nicely and that small base fitting inside a bigger one is supercool  Drycha is also very well done. I was wondering someday if we'll ever get more tree people in your army and I guess this answers it ;)

I've long been considering treemen or treekin models for Crypt Horrors, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Besides, I was planning a Wood Elf army at some point and wanted to save some models for that!

I dug out the other box of Orc Skeletons and found that one is broken and the left arms are missing - once upon a time I would have been annoyed, now I see OPPORTUNITY! :D I also found a few other bits and bobs I started throwing together to make more models. Also made the first steps into my "undead construct" model.

Right, I'm throwing this out there: my aim now is to "complete" this army during 2016. It's still 8 months, it's doable if I make a plan and follow it. It'll never really be finished, but I want to move on to smaller, more varied projects, perhaps even try painting stuff for fun, not for a rules set (gasp!)

Now would be a good time to throw out any ideas or wishes that *you* might have for *my* army!

Suggestions? Okay, I would like to see some more of the members of the Eternal Court. That is to say, more pretty vampire ladies ;)

@Dragonet I guess there's no avoiding this, I'll have a look for a suitable tree.
@robtion I can guarantee that there will be more pretty ladies :)

On the list so far...

2 more Skeleton Orcs
2 more Bat Swarms
Undead Construct (TBA)
War Mammoth No 2
2 Skeletal Dragons
Vampire Lady on Dragon
1 x mounted Vampire Lady
3 x armoured Vampire Ladies
3 x unarmoured Vampire Ladies
at least one more Lady Necromancer

Plus mini-projects I'll call " The Rose Tree", "Deathly Wings" and "Fur and Feathers" for now ;)

Here are the Army Book entries which I haven't really covered:

Crypt Horrors
Mortis Engine
Abyssal Terror
Winged Hellsteed
Special Characters
Zombies

None of those are compulsory of course.

Finally, I will need to do a sweep of my storage boxes and mini links to make sure I haven't missed a model I'll regret later.

So, two more Skeleton Orcs:

I wanted to change these further from the other two, and this was aided by the left arms of these models being missing! So I had to throw together two left arms (mostly hidden by shields) and a right arm (on the left hand model), as well as remodel the chest which I'd cut the old right arms away from.

The results are a bit crude but pass muster, I think.

Remaining List (* = WIP)

*2 more Bat Swarms
*Undead Construct (TBA)
War Mammoth No 2
2 Skeletal Dragons
Vampire Lady on Dragon
1 x mounted Vampire Lady
3 x armoured Vampire Ladies
*3 x unarmoured Vampire Ladies
at least one more Lady Necromancer
