It's been a long looonnnng time since we ran a Golden Bat competition, and I think now's the time resurrect this tradition!

If you've not seen them before you see the previous competitions and winners here! Whilst I need to see how many people are interested you can assume:

• Entries to be completed and posted by PM to Disciple of Nagash by end of Tues 28th October 2025 GMT. Please avoid posting your entry in painting logs if possible to so we can keep voting anonymous
  • You can have upto 3 pictures, but at least one must show your complete entry with all models if there are more than one model in the submission (see below for allowed entries) and bases. The other two can then show whatever you prefer, e.g. focusing on certain details models, etc. You cannot bypass this limit by trying to put smaller pictures in pictures!
• Any WHFB, TOW or AOS undead models can be entered which can be one of the following:
  • 1 character
  • 1 character on a mount of any kind
  • 1 monster sized creature / Chariot / Warmachine (including crew)
  • 1 spell model
  • Standard infantry, cavalry, flyer or beast sized models: Upto 5, which may include a command group
  • Monstrous infantry, cavalry, flyer or beastsized models: Upto 3, which may include a command group
  • Swarms; Upto 3
• You can have one entry per category
• We will have two Categories:
  • Painting
    • There will be at least* the following awards:
      • 1st Place: Gold medal and £40 prize vouchers by a miniature company of your choice (that does) prize vouchers
      • 2nd Place: Silver medal
      • 3rd Place: Bronze medal
      • Mod's Choice: Medal plus £20 prize voucher by a miniature company of your choice (that does) prize vouchers
      • If we get more entries / interest, further awards etc may be introduced
  • Converting
    • Awards currently depend on number of entrants, TBC
• You can enter any models not previously entered in a Golden Bat competition as it's been a while, so yes you can enter something painted a couple of years ago
• Entry requirement: Must be a registered CN member and at least made an intro

* This is based on the current indicated number of entries, if a lot of people drop out then we reserve the right to review the awards

Oooh an alternative Black Coach and Vargheists you say? That sounds very interesting, and an excellent excuse to do a painting log so we can follow on your journey! Look forward to seeing them

I don't want to get your hopes up. I'm not the greatest converter, but I do use figures from other ranges. In my lore, the dead are shipped to the monastery/vampire lair by boat. So my Black Coach is a large gondola, with a masked gondolier, floating on water and bones. Similarly I use the vargheist rules for my animated statues from the necropolis!

You definitely should AutonomicCurve - it's open to new and old players and a really good way to motivate yourself

Ah my various social media posts are paying off then! It's hard work competing with the likes of Facebook and Reddit but hopefully bit by bit we'll get more members who like having a set place for their army painting logs etc
