She commanded the Tribe moving north, and defeated the greatest Beastmen tribe of the Southlands last week. Now, the way to the Old World lies open...

A barely armoured Wight King BSB:

An equally naked Wight King on, well, a Zebra... Just need to slap on a weapon on this guy I think.

More Wargs/Hyenas:
ai96.photobucket.com_albums_l198_Jakethemistake_IMG_6100.webp

And an even bigger one - a doomhyena:

ai96.photobucket.com_albums_l198_Jakethemistake_IMG_6098.webp

So, that's it for now.

Oh, and it looks like it's not the best photos - sorry for that...

Wow.... Every time I see it... I just love this army to pieces!!

The Hyenas are perfect!!

Now you just need some crazy things for Crypt Horrors.... Can't wait to see what sneaks in to do those!! ;)

Thanks guys, always glad to see one's work being appreciated. It's hard work keeping Johnny happy, but I try, oh yes, I try.

And Dark Rose - I'm sorry that I haven't been exactly clear, but I'm using the smaller gorillas* as crypt horrors. Although they are a bit smaller than the actual models, I think they fit ok, and nobody has complained yet, at least.

*These guys, posted on an earlier page. Also, they have now the proper bases:

-------

So, with all this talk about gorillas - do you guys remember the really big gorilla I did a while ago? He has been my Hell Pit when I was trying out Skaven, and then somehow turned vampiric, got a smaller base, and now counts as a varghulf.

Well, here is his father.

Very very pleased with him. The fur might look a bit strange in the pictures, but trust me, it is rather nice for real.

He was a pain though. He is resin, and just was massive piece. Standing, attached, on a big, oval base. So I had to do some serious sawing and green stuffing on his right leg to sort of fit him on a 50-base. I'd say most of that leg is actually green stuff. The base under the foot I couldn't get rid of, so had to be a bit creative. Now he sands on some rocks.

So if you wonder about his pose - now you know.

Oh, a father and son pic, for comparisson.

Also, I have a new Doom Wolf/Hyena.

My zombies/Pygmies grows fast, and need some unit fillers. My baboons have a place on them:
ai96.photobucket.com_albums_l198_Jakethemistake_IMG_6132.webp

And, as I'm going to a tournament in a couple of weeks - a tournament that will use the Blood and Glory scenario (although a bit altered) - I need a couple of standards and a musician more for my Pygmies:
ai96.photobucket.com_albums_l198_Jakethemistake_IMG_6135.webp

That's all for now, hope you like it.

So, what's next? Well, I have found that I have less time now a days, with a new little baby needing attention, so I can't promise anything. But I have already made plans for Grave Guards, and the three different cavalry types. And I have some ghosts/ancestral spirits already, but not really pleased with them yet. But I'll try and get some pics up on them soon too.

Cheers

Jake

The flags for your Pygmies unit look effing amazing, dude. Also, any chance we can get a nice group shot of the whole tribe? I'd love to get the view the guy on the other side of the table has when you set your army down.

Thanks guys.

Adam_Barrow

Even though I'm sort of pleased with the flags on the pygmies, I had hoped I'd get them to look like the wight king BSBs one a couple of post up. But I forgot how I did it...

And give me a couple of days and I'll try and get some full army pics up.

Anyhow, I have these for now.

Not overly satisfied with them, but they'll do. I do have a crazy idea for later, that I hope will be better. But that lies in the future.

They look pretty good to be honest. They remind me of the Egwugwu spirits in 'Things Fall Apart' (which is a fantastic read by the way)!

The egwugwu are a symbol of the culture and independence of the Umuofia people. The egwugwu are seen as ancestral gods, though in actuality they are masked Umuofia elders. The egwugwu serve as respected judges in the community, listening to complaints and prescribing punishments and deciding conflicts. Just as the egwugwu are superstitiously thought to be the spirits of the Umuofia ancestors, for the sake of the novel, they are symbolically the spirit of the clan. When the egwugwu loose power in the community and are replaced by a white court, the clan’s culture and independence is lost.

So, spent a little time last night on a simple Display board, well, actually more something to carry the army on between tables. And, well, here it is. And yes, I like skulls.
ai96.photobucket.com_albums_l198_Jakethemistake_IMG_6145.webp

It actually ended up being just a bit too small for my liking, but I think it'll work for it's primary use. Here is the force I'll take to the next tournament. Missing from the whole army is Spirit Hosts/Egwugwu, Bat swarms, corpse cart, couple of characters, and a whole lot of skeletons. Oh, and some 40 zombies I have for invo, but didn't set up.

So sorry for the lack of quality in the pics - hard work trying to get a whole army in like this.

So, don't really have an uppdate on the painting, but just wanted to tell you guys that the apeification of the Old World has begun - this weekend I took my army and went on my first tournament with VC, a tournament with 22 players, from Finland, Sweden and Åland... And I won! Well, not Best General (another VC-player won that), but Best Overall. But the gaming side went really well too, so with great sportsman score, good comp-score and highest paint score it was enough to win it all.

I am very pleased, and very happy.

Small(?) update. Haven't been working to much on this army, as the little time I have not working or being with the baby is spent on my new chaos dwarf project. But, I have played a couple of tournaments and ended up in the top 20% in all, so the cannibal tribe is working just fine as they are. However, hadn't it been for the trouble with maelstrom games, I would have brought two terrorgheist to the last event. But I had to settle with the one ( I use the the banelegion chimera for that one) . But now the new one ave arrived and is ready for battle. Or screaming at least....

I believe you have seen it. I seem to remember you comment on it at least. But, as I am known under many different names where ever I go, you might have missed it: The daemons know me as Insanity Within; by the mortal followers of the chaos gods I'm the elusive Wanderer; Garganthor is the name the beasts whisper in fear. And the children of Hashut calls me Jake...

Sadly I haven't really updated that plog in a while, because I haven't really done that much. At least, not painted it, although quite much are assembled, basecoated and started painting on. Expect quite a few updates in the following months, as I'm getting ready to bring them to battle soon.
