Looking good, I particularly like your unit filler idea. I've got to say though, the mold lines on your models really stick out. I know scraping them off takes a bit longer when you're assembling your models, but the end result is definitely worth it!

I do try to get most of them, but I always end up missing some. I know I should be more careful, but I'm lazy.

I'm planning on posting some batreps now that I've found a good group here in Calgary. Here is my WiP title card.

Spent about an hour going through the enormous reaper section at sentry box and found some cool CHEAP minis

That Varghulf model is brilliant! It must be mine! What was it called? who made it? Reaper? Did it have a title or a sculptor on the blister pack? Tell me what you know!

Ran the Vargulf this week. I made a silly mistake with him and lost him, but the model got a lot of admiring glances.

I will be picking up more Reaper stuff for sure, so keep an eye on this thread.

Damn that's a sweet varghulf model. Your other reaper finds are great, too. I used to collect reaper minis to paint for use in D&D -- they're fun in a one off kind of way, it's incredibly refreshing to paint individual models when you're used to painting them in batches of at least 15 of almost the same guy (and even between completely different models, using the same scheme).

Also, hot damn, your mounted necromancer is SUH-WHEAT!

Got the remaining 5 blood knights put together. Great, characterful flagellant heads. There's a guy with a blindfold, a 'man in the iron mask' a pretty boy type which I believe is actually a greatsword head.

Also got another vampire built.

Reaper has amazing stuff and some of the interesting models, from the VC point of view, have been released under Bones range, the cheap plastic miniatures (but far from negligible) and even more are about to be available under the next wave of Bones.

Some more steady progress this week.

And some detail shots of where I'm going with the Varghulf because I know he's a popular guy.

The Wraith in the front of the ghoul horde is just a proxy for now, I will be picking up a vampiress tomorrow to use as my BSB.

Here's my tentative list at 2400 points.

Vampire Lord - Lvl 4: lore of vamps, sword of bloodshed, red fury, quickblood, heavy armour, enchanted shield, amulet of endurance. 506

Vampire - Lvl 2: lore of beasts, forbidden lore, BSB, heavy armour, shield, dragonhelm, amulet of preservation. 251

Wight King - Great weapon, heavy armour, barded skeletal steed, potion of toughness. 130

40 Ghouls. 400

5 units of 5 Dire Wolves. 200

9 Black Knights - Full command, banner of the barrows. 314

3 Vargheists. 138

5 Blood Knights - Standard bearer, musician, banner of swiftness. 285

Vargulf. 175

It's been a big week in the Ripper's lair. My Mantic army boxed set arrived.

30 zombies, 50 ghouls, well over 100 skeletons including plenty in heavy armour to be used as grave guard and 10 black knights.

I also hit up the Reaper section at Sentry box and went on a rampage with some of my tax return. Enjoy.

Got three blocks of infantry done this week. For these big blocks, the wash painting technique is crazy fast. I had lots of characters to work on as well, so that broke up the monotony a bit. But mainly I just watched 2 seasons of X Files while I worked.

White primer
Paint metallic areas with ironbreaker
Black wash for shading
Colour in with coloured washes

I just need to base these guys. This is most time consuming part because I have to use actual paint.

Hopefully all three will be based up for Thursday. I really want to get some work done on my Terrorgheists though, so maybe not.

Nice posing! Can't have two models posed identically...

Thanks, that's just the zombie dragon build from the instruction book but with the TG head stuck on.

I HATED assembling that standard build. It has four contact points to the base and you have to stick them all to the base at the same time. Then he started drooping as the glue dried and I had to prop him up. But once it was dry, it was a VERY sturdy build and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

The zombie dragon build took like 20 minutes and was super easy but it's ever so slightly less sturdy now that it's finished.

The biggest thing with these guys is, after you're all assembled and you're playing a game, the wings are so freaking big that you bump into them constantly and they work their way loose. These things are just too big, honestly. How the hell are they strength 5? It makes no sense. From their size they should be at least strength 6. How is this thing the same strength as a troll? It can fit a troll in it's mouth.
