well befor you completely dismantal them if you just pop the heads off and attach the bret helms that do not have the stuff on top just the classic knight helms they look good i did that up for a client cant get a pic yet but give me a few days and i will =0

Josef, please show me a picture or two of those when you can. :)

Anyway, I've gotten the army symbol made up. I traced it out of the blurry picture with a pencil and it took a fair few tries. Here it is though,

So now I'm going to print it out en masse to use around the army. There'll be one on each grave guard, black knight, blood knight, dire wolf and fell bat shield, on each applicable spot on the horse bardings, every banner and so on. I only wish that I had the skill to free hand it, as that would allow me to add some definition to the emblem, such as the hair. Ah well, one has to accept their limitations at times, huh?

that's a nice symbol and it will certainly tie everything nicely together. If yuo do it simply black yuo can later on always go back and add some detail when you are more confident of your skills

I'll be having 12 of the "mounted yeomen" in the army, Ironlord. And I'm glad that you all liked the symbol, as well as looking nice it'll also tie the army closer to the original inspiration, bringing it to the tabletop instead of being (mostly) in the fluff.

Also, this is my 1000th post on CN. Hooray for me!

I must say that I was a bit underwhelmed with the default user title. I don't really know what I expected though so it's alright either way. :)

Later today I'll be turning my laptop in for some screen repairs. I'm not sure how long it will take but it will allow me to free up more time for painting. It's not all bleak I guess, heheh. ;)

All right, it's about time that I put up something new in here. I present to you my latest little project, a converted Black Coach. The thing is still a WIP as the base isn't done. I'm trying to create some good looking cotton mist but the material isn't exactly the easiest to work with. Also, please excuse the slight blurriness to the pictures, it's been a while since I snapped one. Once the entire thing is complete, I will take some better ones off it. :)

In case you can't make out what it's supposed to be, it's a wooden boat crewed by a trio of Reapers and a fourth ghostly fellow at the rear. :)

Hi,

I've just been through all ten pages of this army diary and i loved reading/viewing your progress.

I'm a fan of the style your army is painted with, the ethereal glow look works really groovy and is very fitting for VC.
I like the Wraith idea too and the use of faceless/headless Night Gobbos as zombies.
The Black coach conversion is pretty groovy too, can't help but think of the river styx.

All in all you have an awesome army and i'm looking forward to seeing where its heading next.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks for the positive reception guys, I just hope that I'll be able to get the base looking pretty as well before time's up for the contest. Seeing as that time is little more than two weeks away I think I'll manage it, heheh. :)

@Hexter, thank you for those words, this sure has been quite a ride. When I first came here I had only a vague little idea for a theme in mind and through the help and feedback from various members of CN it has now grown into what is becoming my first painted army ever. I've been into the hobby for over a decade now, it's about d*rn time. I know that I've said that many times before but in my opinion it's worth repeating, haha. :D

There is still much work to be done but I think I've a good mental image of how things are going to be looking now. :)

Edit: Oh and yes Hexter, the idea is indeed based off of the River Styx. Or rather, based on a fictional character in turn based on the Ferryman of the River Styx. ;)

It's really nice to come back from vacation and be met by something like this. Love the boat idea and it's really well executed. Looking forward to seeing the base finished (maybe with the cotton wool imitating water?).

i think that counts as messing with it so that means josef is coming after you

I'm sorry Josef but Sheep is right, the base needs some cotton mist so that the boat has something to transport itself on. ;)

And Ironlord, speaking of Corpse Carts, I believe that will be my next project. I've been eyeing the Bretonnian Grail Relic and have noticed that the carriers are all separate. I'm planning on sawing their heads off and giving them some skeleton equivalents. :)

Edit: Oh and also the Varghulfication of the Green Knight!
