The Undeadish

Thanks! I'm spending April working on various giants, and have two meatgiants coming up that are even bigger than him. :|

I always thought that skeleton was one of the biggest there is! This is crazy! Is there a place where one can see your non-skeletal creations? I am most interested in seeing that ;)

Nice collection of skellies BTW ;) That thin, but big skeleton would be also quite easy to 'thicken' with some greenstuff conversions.

I have a blog at www.zerotwentythree.com, and you can click on the tags for giants, undead, etc there.

Been away for a while. A little work on other things, but also busy with personal stuff (work, moved, daughter started kindergarten, etc.)

At any rate, below are a few relevant pics of what I'm working on. More details/progress at www.zerotwentythree.com (I'm too lazy to cut & paste right now -- I'll try to get back to this paint log with details as I work on more undead again...)

Touched up and rebased some old wolves I got second-hand (already painted)....

Thanks!

Rapid work on two more figures for Deadcember. And more cheating. ;)

One is a wight that I got in a trade. It was painted very close to my own style, so I just kept the paint, gave him a new shield and base. I think it's another old Citadel figure.

The other is the third of my vulture sculpts. Finally painted after working on the sculpting for many long years, and then the figure has been primed and sitting on my desk since earlier this year. (I got frustrated with his staff and stole the top and bottom from the GW Mordheim sprue.) Going with the limited pallette of the Undeadish again -- but I probably still could have done a little better. Worked on it in little five minute increments, whenever I could get to it, over the past few days. I should get a photo of the three sculpts together.

Thanks. The first one was painted before I started back on the undead. I have a more colorful (only slightly) version of the cast figure as well. But the two on the right are more recent painting, intended to fit within my Undeadish concepts. (Which I will someday finish writing * re-writing and make a bit more public...)

Thanks!

Not much time for painting lately. But wanted to wish everyone who reads my little plog a happy holiday of choice. Or not. Crom does not care.

(Yeah, even recycling my Christmas image/joke from last year... no time for messing around with a new one of those, either. lol )

Deadcember '16 is crawling to its conclusion...

Managed to sneak in a little more painting time last night and finished (more or less -might need a touch-up or two) the three skeleton heroes: Ennio Mordini, Renzo Avanti, and Richter Kreugar.

Also rebased this old figure, painted ages ago, to match my current stuff.

Trailing a little behind the actual Deadcember is the Lord of the Feast, a great Warmahordes mini that I thought would look good with my Undeadish.

At some point (later in the year?) I may return to painting some more of the Undeadish rank & file, critters, and characters that I still have waiting. I really wanted to get this guy done in Deadcember, though.

I also didn't get to the oldschool wight cavalry & hero that I had wanted to paint, but maybe I will do them soon too?

I love the model and have been undying (heh heh) to paint it since I got it. I've got some vague notions for background. I sort of like the idea of him as an Undeadish counterpart to the Death Elemental.

He also reminds me of an Undeadish Herne the Hunter, based on distant, half forgotten childhood memories of watching Robin of Sherwood.

At some point I'd like to write more down. I have a lot of ideas and notes about my setting snd theoretical campaign. But I've hardly written anything out yet.

Awesome as usual ;) Richter Krueger, being a named hero and all, seems a little odd without an emblem on his shield - but that would unfortunately clash with your scheme, so I guess he'll be as he is ;) Top notch work! The antlered here is also a very fine addition - never seen that mini before - while it's a shame he doesn't have any yellowish accents like other of your undudes, his black and white scheme creates a very good creepy feel to him :)

My painting projects have been all over the place, but I've finally come back around to some undead/undeadish. The "Althammer" fluff concept behind these guys is that they are essentially like the Undeadish, but a recruited/bound from villages or Marienburg itself. Their numbers will be much smaller.

I quickly finished painting and based some of the undeadish cultists. They're mostly old Citadel Disciples of the Red Dead Redemption troopers, plus an old (chaos?) wizard, and one of the new "oldhammer" figures (this one from Ramshackle Games - bearing an "old hammer") I got at the last Oldhammer USA day. I thought the latter two would fit well with the unit, and I'm not disappointed!

I'm still in the process of painting the four command figures from the Disciples unit.

Currently painted above are 16 troopers, plus the four command which are almost done, for a unit of 20. Plus the mage & hammer-bearer as possible characters. I also have a second set of four command, and two more troopers. I probably should have painted the last two troopers, at least. That way I could run a unit of 24. Maybe I will do them in the next week or two, while this is all still fresh. I also have an oldschool Citadel cleric that I think will fit well with the unit, if I (blasphemy!) file the embossed symbol off the shield.

I'm trying to decide what to do next, and one of the options at the top of my list is a unit of the old metal wight cavalry on plastic horses, plus the mounted wight lord (a beautiful figure!)

Ouuh, how did I miss that? ok I definitely ask this question way too often, I seem to miss a lot of things o.o Nice units you got there, I reaaally love the Skellie Ogres (and yeah, I just discovered them here today). The cultists remind me strongly of an type of enemy in Dark Souls 3, very nice troops you added there! ( https://goo.gl/images/nxGi53 fyi )

If you count votes, I'm for the mounted wight lord, because that's one of my undead fav models which I sadly don't own. So I'm happy to see him in other armys.
