RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige
(OOC: Picks up from the end of The Ancients supplement which places Cerberus in the near vaccinity of the Violet Citadel.)
The violent explosion shook the earth, the heavens were licked with flames. Wreathing smoke, and sickly flames draped a daemonic cast on the fanatical mortals who descended upon the undead servants of the Council. With unholy vigor, possessed with an indoctrinated fury and faith in their terrible god, the dread Nagash. The gale of rushing air propelled by the explosion whipped away the unearthly fog which swathed Cerberus. Unveiled as he was a cadre of Nagashi noticed the lone figure and consumed as they were by their all enrapturing fury, they charged him.
Cerberus reached into the winds of magic, he felt the familiar tug, drawing him into union with the energy which permeated elemental water. He could sense the water which coursed through the air, the heavens, and more importantly the onrushing Nagashi. With an intonation he channeled his will into holding their body’s water still, fixated in place. Slowly, as if grudgingly, it began to freeze, capillaries and arteries began to burst as water expanded, giving way to ice. Cerberus attempted to channel the winds of magic more forcefully, to lend more power to his spell. They eluded, seeming to slip away from his grasp, other presences were interfering, preventing him from tapping more powerfully into the vast reservoirs of arcane might which gushed forth from the Northern Pole. The little damage which he had caused the Nagashi seemed to be unfazed by. They let loose a guttural roar as they leapt upon the unbowed figure who dared stand before them.
The first Nagashi leapt into the air and came crashing down upon Cerberus with a mighty overhead swing. Cerberus held his trident aloft, catching the force of the blow on its haft, the strength of the blow pressing him into the ground. A second Nagashi struck him on the left flank with unholy speed, the strike caused him to careen to the right, his armor saved him from the otherwise debilitating blow. Hissing in outrage, he barely blocked a blade to the gut before having his feet swept from under him.
He could barely concentrate, the insidious presence which permeated his mind conflicted with him.
Such weakness.
A blow to his shoulder flipped onto his back. He struggled to his feet, attempting to ward off a furious fusillade of strikes.
Such contempt for reality.
In a remarkable acrobatic feat, a lightly armored Nagashi flipped forward, landing perfectly balanced on one hand whilst lashing out with his right foot.
Open your eyes fool, whilst you still can.
Stars danced before his eyes, his head snapping back. The pain, the fury, the audacity, they focused his mind, a cold, firm, mechanical purpose interred itself into his being. He focused his mind once more upon the unseen currents of magic, drawing them to himself, drawing his will down with deadly affect. The nearest Nagashi, screamed as his veins burst, water turning to ice, blood pressure increasing. He fell, thrashing upon the ground. Another two Nagashi crashed to the ground, having suffered the same fate. Given suitable room to maneuver, Cerberus leapt to his feet, swinging his trident in an arc around him as he rose. The three prongs hacked through the legs of one of the fanatical worshipers. Subsumed as he was by his unholy rage, the Nagashi attempted to level a blow even as his body was bled dry. With a lateral strike, Cerberus bisected the Nagashi and ended his futile attempts. Within a sparse few minutes he had beaten his way through the surrounding, encroaching Nagashi.
A vampire, astride a mighty Varghulf seemed to have similarly beaten through the front of the Nagashi wave. Cerberus decapitated a Nagashi with a capricious lick of his trident before striding over to the vampire.
“Are you an ally of the Vampire Council?â€Â, he hissed.
