RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Nelson had made good progress so far and with his warpston laced daggers he was sure that none of those that he had slain would rise again.

He had almost made it to the duel when he sensed a heavy magical duel and saw flashes of fire. He decided that he should check this out and see what was going on.

When he arrived after having destroyed several wights and other undead he saw a very beuitiful Vampiress that had been badly beaten.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Sentence let out a hiss of anger as he plucked the bolt from his chest the wound instantly reknitting itself.
"You insolent pest!" snarled the Dark Lord
Spitting out an incantation he raised every single one of the fallen undead to attack the citadel once more.
Glancing around he saw Todd's force nearby and grinned coldly raising a withered hand and began spitting out the incantation for a great spell of dark destruction.

V'azrin put a hand into his robe and withdrew a vial filled with a blood red liquid, in one swift gesture he swallowed the liquid in a single gulp. Instantly he felt his dark power renewed and straighted up his exhaustion gone.
With a sigh he uttered a single word of power causing his mind to spread slowly over the area and the citadel, he immediately sensed Lesa due to her magical strength but another burned even brighter on the battlefield, feeling curious he concentrated on this source. Centering on the powerful aura he was struck by its familarity, he took another few moments for identity to become clear. When it did V'azrin almost screamed
"Rahotep" he whispered fearfully, as soon as he did so the aura flared and he felt a something reaching towards him.
In a swirl of Shadow V'azrin vanished.

Lesa sensed his coming and V'azrin appeared in a swirl of darkness, but strangely she could see, even on his withered expression, that he was afraid of something.
"Ah Lesa...are you...ah....alright?" he murmered, his voice calm despite his appearance.

_______________________-

Sentence faltered in his spell casting and turned away, almost casually, from Todd's forces. He sensed something, with a frown he expanded his awareness over the winds of magic
Rahotep whispered the voice over the magical winds
"V'AZRIN!!" Roared the Dark Lord angrily.
But then the presence vanished.
Hissing and with his brother necrarch seemingly gone he turned to look at Todd's forces once more and with a cold grin he suddenly saw a new focus for his anger
"Time to die fools..."
Raising a hand Sentence sent a barrage of flaming arrows at the Council forces laughing coldly as he does so.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

As Simon rode onwards he came across Mircea's force already on the march and quickly rode to the front to join Mircea. "Mircea! It looks like Nagash is taking an active role in this war. He's unleashed his dark lords against us." He said. Mircea nodded "At least he's taking us seriously." he replied "Indeed brother which is why I think we need to send a message." said Simon smiling "I don't know how many of these dark lords are here at present but I think we're going to have to kill them after some extensive questioning of course. I want you to help me do it. I don't want any of the others to get their hands on them especially Beleaara."

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Roaring in anger the Executioner stepped away twirling the massive axe between his hands. He had not expected the fight to be so evenly matched. He could feel the poison of the Dark Blade trying to sap his strength but it failed. Those many years ago, when they had to tried to kill him, drowning, shooting, poison, starvation, hanging, it had endured him to pain or discomfort, and had made his stamina limitless.
Suddenly he charged forward and saw the shock in the Blood Dragon's face as he realised his weapon would not work. Swinging the axe round in a blurring arc he aim at Vekarin's legs. There was no way for him to move back in time so he did the only thing he could, he jumped. Even in his full plate he cleared the sweep but he has played into the Dread Lord's hands. With his free fist the Executioner slammed Vekarin mid jump sending him smashing down onto his back.
A nasty grin crossed his face as he brought the axe down in an overhead smash, designed to cleave Vekarin in two. Somehow he managed to get the Dark Blade in the way but the Executioner pushed downwards with all his massive strength. Slowly yet surely the razor shape axe blade moved towards Vekarin's face.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Erick and his Varghulf mount had hacked and slashed their way into the midst of their forces, Laura right behind them. The undead where closing in around them, seeking to overwhelm Erick with sheer numbers. The Varghulf lashed out in one direction, and Erick in another, covering each other on opposite sides.

Suddenly, only a few feet from them, something exploded in a massive fireball. Erick had no idea what it was, but the sudden light and sound shocked both him and the Varghulf for a moment.
They where brought back to the fight when a Wight stuck its sword into the leg of the Varghulf.

Angered by the wound and still surprised by the explosion, the Varghulf reared up on its back legs, Erick holding onto the saddle mounted on its shoulders.
The Varghulf roared its anger at the world, releasing all its animalistic rage in a single blood chilling howl of wrath. For half a moment, the sounds of the battle seemed to stop as the Varghulf unleashed its anger.

The Varghulf charged forewords, lashing out at everything in its way and half pounced/half flew into a mass of skeletons, smashing their bones under its bulk. Laura spurred her Nightmare forewords, cutting the skulls from bodies as she went past.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Dythor's mind reeled as he entered a fray of blood and undeath. He didn't acknowledge the sides. That, or he couldn't. Still, he saw figures left right and centre. Figures who held no relevence to power. Figures who didn't matter. Dythor could really tell whether they were human or Dwarf or Elf, or any other being.
Dythor could really tell that he was needed.
"Let's spill some blood," he said, moving forwards, his claws rending undead left and right. He didn't make sure his blows killed. He didn't care.
His mind was moving too quickly, already having decided a way to attack before he'd even met his opponent, and thus he was unpredictable, his style fast and dangerous. A sword flashed from his belt there, slicing one opponent in two, before a quick thrust and pull placed the weapon back on Dythor's side. Another sword glittered as it sliced a human's hands off, a Dwarf's beard to follow.
Dythor didn't see the opponents others did. In his blood lust he was seeing what he wanted, or perhaps needed, to kill.
Pure and unbiased, Dythor's rage carried him through men and Dwarfs and Elves alike, although to others it looked to be that Dythor was carving away at anything that got in his way.
Which he was.
Dythor's destination was uncertain, and even he knew that much.
"MOTHER!" He yelled, drawing Exce. "GIVE ME MY PEACE!"
The rapier flashed, it's point entering, and piercing right through one man before Dythor ripped it out, and continued into the next.
"NO MAN MAY GIVE ME MY RELEASE!"
Exce was away, and Evis was in his hand. "NOT WHEN A COWARD BE YOU!" The broadsword he held crushed the side of one man's head, spittle flying from Dythor's lips as he spun, his broadsword smashing weapons and crushing bodies. "WHAT CAN A COWARD LIKE YOU DO?"
Evis was away, and claws again began to tear apart bodies one by one, Dythor's madness causing him to be a loose cannonball on a battlefield.
"MEN! ELVES! DWARFS! NONE CAN WITHSTAND!"
"HOPE DASHES AWAY ACROSS THE BLACKENED SAND!"
"YOU HAVE NO HOPES IN YOUR EYES!"
"YOU MUST PREPARE TO DIE!"
Peace. I have found peace within my heart.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Beleeara hissed as a sharp pain roused him from unconsciousness. Images flashed through his line of sight faster than he can process. Moaning, he shut his eyes and extended his mind, sensing that he was clinging to Draithorn. He synchronized himself to the vampire and the gaps in his memory began to fill, and he was alerted to the dark elf’s purpose. He smiled weakly before asserting himself in the vampire’s mind.

You are no match for the Sentence as you are. His magic will make a mockery out of your guile and subterfuge, and you lack the physical prowess to best him in combat. I will assist you. Heed my instructions very carefully. Focus. Focus your mind upon one design, to destroy the Sentence. Summon your rage, delve into the depths of your fury. Focus.

Beleeara the tedious process of aligning himself fully with Draithorn, tapping into the vast reservoirs of unbridled power which lurked in the heart of the masters of undeath, the voracious beast that sought release. He delved into it, amplifying it, drawing its strength to the fore of Draithorn’s being. Chemicals surged through Draithorn’s body, sharpening his awareness, supplementing his speed and agility and driving them to unholy proportions. Through subtle manipulation of the fields that surrounded Draithorn, both mundane and magical, Beleeara enhanced the vampire’s abilities to prodigious levels.

It was time to unleash the beast.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Momus felt dark magic surge to his right. He had felt it before while in Nagashizzar. He hissed in rage as he split yet another skeleton in two. He leapt, his supernatural speed allowing him to vault off the falling body as he lunged towards its source.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

''Our course'' Mircea stated as the army marched on. ''we must do that as quickly as possible. We should be there shortly.''

Several minuties later the forces of Drakenhof arrived, rapidly they formed up under the direction of Mircea and Simon into large assualt blocks and drove forward into the enemy flank. Squadrons of Black Knights attacking the flanks alongside dire wolves.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Draithon blinked as he felt Beleera occupy his mind, he leapt backwards, cutting a zombie to shreds before responding,

"If I cannot succeed on my own, then I am a failure, and I do not like invasions of my mind!"

The change had taken a mere milisecond and in an instant Draithon was moving again, spinning in a wide circle he cut a swathe through the zombies, clearing a wide circle. With another bound he leapt onto the ruined castle wall, surveying the battle and with Beleera held by the neck.

With deadly precision he slammed Beleera into the ground, once, twice, three times .Flipping the cat over he punched it in the nose and then kicked it in its soft flanks, rupturing organs and causing blood to pour out of small cuts. As a final touch he drew a knife from his boot and cut the rune of pain into Beleera's belly, filling the cuts with a small drop of acid and then discarding that vial.

Keeping the broken and angrily hissing creature under his boot he Pulled the string on the crossbow back and loaded it. Softly speaking a few words he increased the strength of the shot and speared Beleera on the end, with barely a flinch from the sharp claws he aimed at Innocence and fired. With a satisfying crunch it broke one shoulderblade as well as deliviering Beleera straight onto the Dreadlords hands, barely able to move.

He whispered,
"Have fun Innocence"

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Vekarin strained under the massive strength of the Executioner. He knew that the Dread Lord would soon overcome if something was not done, for not even Vekarin prodigious strength could beat that of the dark robed figure. Muttering, Vekarin's eyes looked into the grinning face of the Executioner, the balefire that glowed behind the Mask of Skulls flaring. The Executioner looked uncertain for a moment, but the expression was soon wiped from his face as a dozen bolts of violet energy shot from Vekarin's eyes, flinging the Executioner back. Rolling around quickly, Vekarin stood once again and faced his opponent. The Executioner was, unsurprisingly unscathed by the attack, but Vekarin did not stop to view his handiwork, and pressed his advantage savagely. Seeking to end this endless duel Vekarin leaped forward, the Dark Blade swinging in a downward chopping motion. His first attack was parried by the Executioner's massive ax, but Vekarin was too close for the giant weapon to be used to effectiveness. Vekarin spun, his armored elbow making contact with the Executioner's withered face with a muffled crunch as the Dark Blade sliced deep into his opponent's flesh once more. Grunting, the Executioner levered his the shaft of his ax and used it to forcibly push Vekarin away. The Blood Dragon gave only a few steps before attacking again. However, the brief respite was all that the Executioner needed, and he struck low at Vekarin, the bearded head of the weapon catching Vekarin's arm and pulling it away. The Executioner then struck upwards with it, driving the head of the weapon into Vekarin's face and knocking him back. Another blow struck Vekarin's midsection, the force of it denting Vekarin's runed armor and driving him back yet further. Vekarin recovered quickly, and leaped forward again, the ax coming up a split second to late. Vekarin stabbed the Dark Blade at his opponent, but the dark robed figure twisted nimbly away. The Executioner did not, however, avoid Vekarin's outstretched hand, which latched on to the Dread Lord's arm and pulled him back, into Vekarin's embrace. A massive, armored arm wrapped itself around the withered figure's neck, threatening to pull his head off of his neck as the Dark Blade was pushed into his back. The Executioner fought hard to escape the embrace, his fist beating Vekarin's face repeatedly. Vekarin ignored the attacks, until the Executioner's leg snaked around Vekarin and the Dread Lord threw all his weight at the armored figure, tossing Vekarin to the ground. Before the Blood Dragon could bring his sword up, the massive ax slammed into his chest, the force of the blow crushing the Plate of Kekarsarun, breaking skin and shattering bone. Vekarin doubled up, blood running from the ragged, gaping would in his chest and from beneath his mask.

Victarias watched the duel with awe. In the days before her incarceration she had witnessed few combats with as evenly matched opponents. Her mind wandered back to the duel between Vekarin and the mighty Daemon, Baeloth. Both were warriors nearly unsurpassed in their skill, but the Daemon's downfall was his bloodlust. He had fought like one mad, while Vekarin sized his opponent's skill and attacked where his enemy's defense was weak. Now, however, twenty-five hundred years later, the positions were changed. Vekarin fought like one possessed attacking needlessly and mindlessly, throwing himself at his opponent while the Executioner watched and waited for a time to strike with the most efficiency. That moment came as the Executioner's blade descended on Vekarin again, crushing metal, bone and flesh under it's enormous weight, and Victarias stifled a gasp.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Moaning, and bleeding from dozens if not hundreds of open wounds, acid burning into his system, Beleeara could not help admiring the irony of the situation. He had worked to supplement the elf's capabilities, and in response he had been mortally wounded.

"Give them hell", he croaked to the Dread Lord with the last vestiges of his strength.

He fancied seeing the fleeting image of his former compatriot, the Fool. So many questions had been left unanswered, but his time was finally up. With a last shaky breath, Beleeara was dead.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Ripping the bolt out his shoulder the Innocence looked at the pathetic creature, before deliberatly ripping off its head.

Surveying the scene down below he could see the tide was slowly starting to turn. The arrival of the rest of council, including a large amount of forces was beginning to crush the forces of the Dread Lords. The only thing that seemed to be going to plan was the duel between the Executioner and Vekarin. He had to give the Blood Dragon his due - no other warrior in history has stood upto the Executioner for so long.

However it was now time to reveal their trap.
"Now." That one word was bellowed with such force it rang around the fortress. Suddenly explosions rocked the ground as the outer walls were ripped apart. Rock and debris showered down crushing much of the new forces from Drakenhof, the shockwave knocking more over. As the dust settled another army could be seen marching through. It was not dead hands that gripped weapons, but alive ones as the warriors of the Cult of Nagash, known as the Nagashi arrived. Each warrior had been trained since birth, each insanely devoted to their god and they feared nothing more.Twirling their weapons with expert skill they began to cut a swathe through the undead warriors. For those that fell they were raised once more into servitude.

Walkiing amongst the attacking men came a striking woman. Her body was covered in tight black clothes from the neck downwards, whilst a mane of shockingly white hair flowed around her body.
Through the masses a massive Wight struck at her, yet did not hurt her. Instead the blow appeared on the attackers body, ripping him in two.
Flowing down to land beside her the Innocence nodded in welcome.
"Well met Guilt," he said, "it is now time."
"It is indeed Innocence," she replied a surprisngly youthful voice, "it is time to crush this world and bring it under the heel of our Lord."

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Erick's Varghulf mount thrashed at the undead around it, to possessed by anger to notice the explosion of the outer walls. Erick however, turned and watched impassively as living, deluded servants of Nagash marched into the fray.
Erick tugged at the Varghulf's hair to turn it around. The beast galloped towards the living, dodging falling masonry and bits of the walls. Just before it was about to get to grips with the living, a large block of wall fell right in front of it. The Varghulf jumped from the wall section and smashed its way into the Nagashi.
Erick grasped one of the enemy and hoisted him up before ripping his throat out drinking from his life essence, and then tossing the body away.

Laura von Strauss had attempted to fallow her husband in the wake of his monstrous mount, but the undead had closed ranks and her Nightmare cantered to a halt. She hacked and cut at the skeletons around her.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

(OOC: Picks up from the end of The Ancients supplement which places Cerberus in the near vaccinity of the Violet Citadel.)

The violent explosion shook the earth, the heavens were licked with flames. Wreathing smoke, and sickly flames draped a daemonic cast on the fanatical mortals who descended upon the undead servants of the Council. With unholy vigor, possessed with an indoctrinated fury and faith in their terrible god, the dread Nagash. The gale of rushing air propelled by the explosion whipped away the unearthly fog which swathed Cerberus. Unveiled as he was a cadre of Nagashi noticed the lone figure and consumed as they were by their all enrapturing fury, they charged him.

Cerberus reached into the winds of magic, he felt the familiar tug, drawing him into union with the energy which permeated elemental water. He could sense the water which coursed through the air, the heavens, and more importantly the onrushing Nagashi. With an intonation he channeled his will into holding their body’s water still, fixated in place. Slowly, as if grudgingly, it began to freeze, capillaries and arteries began to burst as water expanded, giving way to ice. Cerberus attempted to channel the winds of magic more forcefully, to lend more power to his spell. They eluded, seeming to slip away from his grasp, other presences were interfering, preventing him from tapping more powerfully into the vast reservoirs of arcane might which gushed forth from the Northern Pole. The little damage which he had caused the Nagashi seemed to be unfazed by. They let loose a guttural roar as they leapt upon the unbowed figure who dared stand before them.

The first Nagashi leapt into the air and came crashing down upon Cerberus with a mighty overhead swing. Cerberus held his trident aloft, catching the force of the blow on its haft, the strength of the blow pressing him into the ground. A second Nagashi struck him on the left flank with unholy speed, the strike caused him to careen to the right, his armor saved him from the otherwise debilitating blow. Hissing in outrage, he barely blocked a blade to the gut before having his feet swept from under him.

He could barely concentrate, the insidious presence which permeated his mind conflicted with him.

Such weakness.

A blow to his shoulder flipped onto his back. He struggled to his feet, attempting to ward off a furious fusillade of strikes.

Such contempt for reality.

In a remarkable acrobatic feat, a lightly armored Nagashi flipped forward, landing perfectly balanced on one hand whilst lashing out with his right foot.

Open your eyes fool, whilst you still can.

Stars danced before his eyes, his head snapping back. The pain, the fury, the audacity, they focused his mind, a cold, firm, mechanical purpose interred itself into his being. He focused his mind once more upon the unseen currents of magic, drawing them to himself, drawing his will down with deadly affect. The nearest Nagashi, screamed as his veins burst, water turning to ice, blood pressure increasing. He fell, thrashing upon the ground. Another two Nagashi crashed to the ground, having suffered the same fate. Given suitable room to maneuver, Cerberus leapt to his feet, swinging his trident in an arc around him as he rose. The three prongs hacked through the legs of one of the fanatical worshipers. Subsumed as he was by his unholy rage, the Nagashi attempted to level a blow even as his body was bled dry. With a lateral strike, Cerberus bisected the Nagashi and ended his futile attempts. Within a sparse few minutes he had beaten his way through the surrounding, encroaching Nagashi.

A vampire, astride a mighty Varghulf seemed to have similarly beaten through the front of the Nagashi wave. Cerberus decapitated a Nagashi with a capricious lick of his trident before striding over to the vampire.

“Are you an ally of the Vampire Council?”, he hissed.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

As Simon and Mircea's joint force crashed into the Nagashites Simon examined one of the Nagashite corpses "Very interesting!"he said "Look Mircea this armour is very well made. Just what I'm looking for. As soon as we've killed them all I want this armour taken back to Drakenhof immediately." Mircea looked it over "Are you sure thats wise?" he commented "There's no telling what enchantments it could have on it." Simon laughed "Nagash isn't going to waste enchantments on the armour of his fodder and it happens to be better designed and more durable than the armour currently worn by my living servants. Now then!" he said looking around "Where's the Sentence?! His black and withered heart has a date with Animessor." Mircea looked around "I expect he's here somewhere and with a pretentious title like that maybe its time we passed sentence on him. I judge him guilty!"

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Erick paused in his hacking as he stared at the newcomer, surprised at the sudden question.
"With the way things are going, I am an ally of myself."
He gutted a Nagashi with a quick downward hack.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Cerberus could not help but smile.

“Yes, the pretentious fools have that affect.”

Cerberus took up a flanking position to the vampire, careful to remain out of the Varghulf’s path. He hacked and slashed with his trident through the flesh, bone and sinew of the onrushing Nagashi. With a sibilant hiss he began to channel the winds of magic, slowly, yet methodically, he froze the blood within the newly dead, the expanding ice pulverizing their bones. He was not nearly quick enough as the magical energies channeled by the infernal Dread Lords caused the newly dead to rise in a parody of life, servants in undeath.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Mircea, beheaded another Nagashi. It was unexpected, he had to admit, that Magash would having living fighters amoung his ranks. Still they were no match for him and the Grave Guard spearhead he led.

He kicked another body out of the way before raising it again. ''Of course, brother, to kill the snake you must cut off it's head and the body will die'' he said.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Sentence cackled as he twisted his hands sending bolts of shadow against numerous undead warriors of the Vampire Council
Stopping he tilted his head slightly, his mind had expanded far beyond the limits of his physical form, his awareness included the battlefield around him.
He could sense Innocence, he council sense the Lahmian slut, he could sense the councils vampiric members and he could sense the bulging dark lord fighting the blood dragon.
He could also sense Guilt...he just prefered to avoid that thought.
Annoyingly however he could not find V'azrin
"Pathetic brother...the oldest you are but no longer the strongest" he hissed under his breath
Suddenly he recognised one of the minds amongst the battlefield, with a grin he sent out a telepathic thought in the general direction of the vampire
"Come little count! Come and meet your end!" it whispered at the edge of Simon's mind.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Simon sensed Sentence speaking in his mind and grinned as he began to make his way towards the dark lord. "You're days and the days of your master are coming to an end and mine and those of my house are only just beginning." The two Lords of necromancy stood in the middle of the battlefield each one daring the other to make the first move.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

At the very last possible moment Geralt directed the Sign of Aard at Sentence. Hastily casted as it was, its only effect was a telekinetic thrust that pushed the Sentence two steps back but it was enough to ruin his concentration. The raw energy accumulated for the spell he was about to cast on Todd and his ersatz warband dissipated onto Setence's nearby minions in a deadly cascade of warping static that incinerated them in an instant.

It was just then that Simon arrived. Todd held up a hand.

"You've come at just the right moment. I think he's expecting you." Whilst Simon probably couldn't stand up to the Sentence in a straight up fight the resilience the Carstein Ring lent him would mean that he would take a lot of killing, ensuring that he would keep the Dread Lord busy for a while yet. Besides, there were other things he had to consider, such as the newly arrived legion of Nagashi warriors. They were certainly not as planned.

Whilst his forces fought to maintain a perimeter around the Sentence, Sweeney Todd began an incantation of his own. Deathly green mists gathered around him before a sudden, unnatural wind directed the killing fog into the frontal ranks of the Nagashi. The flesh of those standing within the deadly clouds sloughed off their bodies like a snake shedding its skin even as it rapidly decomposed. Within moments all who were affected were nought but jumbled skeletons on the ground. However Todd was no master necromancer, his untrained grasp of necromancy and magic being mostly instinctual and relatively few were killed by his spell.

He reached within his vest and whipped out an Empire-made flare gun, raising it skywards and firing it in the same motion. The signal sent was for Mrs. Lovette to see. Her help was desperately needed against the Nagashi now. In the meantime, he turned back to the Sentence and awaited the right moment to strike.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

DoN's post:

The battle raged back and forth but as the first units of Nagashi came through it was clear there was many more behind. They fought like men possessed, stirred on by the presence of the Guilt within their midst.
The unsettling woman walked forwards slowly, a strange smile on her pale face. Her ice blue eyes looked at the scene of carnage before her, and seemed to find pleasure in what she saw.

Suddenly from nowhere a random spell streaked towards her, purple flames ready to consume and burn. Yet before they could hit her they disappeared, apparently absorbed by the spherical shield that was made visible for a second. Looking at the direction the spell had come from she lazily raised her hand, an almost dreamy look on her face. With a roar the absorbed flames erupted back at their sending, amplified tenfold. Undead and men alike were incinerated by the spells path, before it hit the necromancer that had cast it and annihilated him.
Satisfied the Dread Lord continued walking forward, her mere presence adding to the death and devastation.

*****************************************************

Waking up to V’azrin’s face was perhaps not the most pleasant experience, as the shriveled Necrach’s face loomed in Lesa’s vision. Yet she was still pleased to see a friend, rather than facing death at the hands of the Innocence. Struggling to sit up she cried in pain as the broken bones speared her insides. As much as she hated to admit it, she needed help.

“Quickly,” she gasped, placing her hand on V’azrin’s arm, “You must help me heal. I don’t have enough strength to do it fast enough, and Vekarin will need us if this attack is to be stopped.” The effort of speaking through so many injuries caused her to slump back, yet she still gripped the Necrach’s arm as if she would never let it go. Closing her eyes she began to soundlessly speak the Invocation of Nehek, determined to heal her body and join back in the fight.

****************************************************

With a burst of bone and metal another ancient Wight King exploded, the magic holding its bones together causing a volatile reaction as it was dispersed by the Blade of Banishment. The soft whispering laugh of the Innocence followed in his wake as he created a merry path of destruction, the sword in his hand deadly to any it touched.

As he heard the cantering of hooves nearby he turned to see mounted wights charging at him, lances lowered. Before they reached him though he came apart, flowing upwards and around them at blinding speeds. There was no chance for them to strike him, for he was a swift as the wind itself. The crushing torrent blasted the knights backwards, driving them further and further as the undead steeds tried to dig in their hooves.
There was a glint of light as the Blade of Banishment flickered somewhere in the black mist, followed by another mocking laugh. Suddenly the horses dropped to the ground, their legs cut from underneath them.
Now without grip the terrible winds pushed once more, throwing the knights off the mountainside where the Violet Citadel sat, to be dashed to pieces on the rocks below.

Flowing upwards the Innocence surveyed the battlefield and could see it would not be long. The Nagashi and undead troops commanded by the Dread Lords had surrounded the Council forces and were slowly driving them back against the citadel. They were vastly outnumbered, and as the Sentence summoned more from the long dead buried in the path upto the mighty fortress, it was clear there was no way for the Council to win.

With the power of the four Dread Lords behind them, it seemed the forces of Nagash would crush the Council into dust.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Laura had managed to hack her way back to her husband, they both looked at their predicament with dismay.
"This battle is lost. We must retreat."
Said Laura simply.
Erick nodded. "We must escape, but I don't think their going to just let us go...a Distraction perhaps?"
He looked at the fortress.
"Perhaps if there was a big enough blast...."

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Vekarin's teeth gritted in pain as he got to his feet once more. The Executioner stood back, eying the massive warrior as a predator would do his prey. Blood splashed from the gaping wound in Vekarin's chest, and the sticky substance filled his mouth. Contemptuously, he spat it out at the Executioner's feet, creating another crimson puddle on the ground that reflected the flames that flared up all around them.
"You are most resilient, Bloodsucker." The dark-robed Executioner rasped, hefting his axe once again, "I must admit you impress me"
"Save your words, filth." Vekarin hissed, blood clogging his words, "You will require them to cry to your pitiful god when I dash you against these stones."
The Executioner let out what seemed to be a snort, and raised his axe to attack. Vekarin readied his own weapon, reassured by the blade's weight in his hand. With a step forward, the Executioner attacked, his mighty axe sweeping across Vekarin's body. The Blood Dragon stepped aside once again, but only just. The axe's head missed Vekarin's chest by a mere hairsbreadth. Vekarin took the opportunity to step forward once again, as the Executioner's axe was still swinging up to attack again. The Dark Blade thrust downwards to spear the Executioner's head, but the haft of the great axe was already there, blocking the sword's descent. Vekarin gritted his teeth, trying to force down the Executioner's weapon to that the attack could strike home, but the Dread Lord easily overpowered him.
"Another futile test of strength, Vekarin?" The Executioner asked mockingly, "Is that wise?"
The Executioner forced his axe up, easily overpowering Vekarin and throwing him back several paces. Vekarin lowered his weapon as the Executioner approached.
"Does is appear that you have won, pet of Nagash?" Vekarin asked, "Then end it."
The Executioner grinned, his axe raised above his head. As he swung it down, ready to slice off the offending Vampire's head, a burst of light appeared from every joint and rune on Vekarin's armor. The jagged hole cut in it's heavy cuirass reshaped and repaired itself, becoming whole again. The mighty axe fell on Vekarin's exposed neck, but rebounded with a such a force that the Executioner was thrown back, clutching his eyes. Vekarin laughed striding forward quickly to close on the incapacitated Dread Lord.
"Never underestimate the power of the Daemon, hellspawn of Nagash. To do so will be your undoing."
The Executioner looked up, the afterimages burned in his eyes clearing as he saw the Vampire bearing down on him. A searing pain erupted from his abdomen as the Dark Blade was struck across it, and again, and again. On the fourth blow the Executioner raised his axe to deflect the Dark Blade, stepping back and stumbling the slightest bit as the Dark Blade's power drank deeply from his stamina.
For once in as long as he could remember, the Executioner may have felt fear.
