RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Standing up with Erick's assistance nodding her head in thanks,
"Your wife's help is much appreciated." Her physical wounds were slowly disappearing as the enhanced blood coursed through her veins, "I would be careful of her around Simon though. He has a taste for our kind, especially with blood as potent as hers." As another gust of wind nearly knocked them off their feet she looked up.
High above she could see the swirling form of the Innocence twisting round and round, and knew what he was trying to do. Judging from the vortex's slowly forming shape, it would be ready around the same time as the Sentences spell.
"Fuck," she spat before starting to run towards the knights, Erick keeping pace. Not waiting for an invitation she leaped up in front of one of the knights, facing the mounted vampire wrapped one arm around him before grabbing hold of V'azrin and pulling him up behind the Knight. The Blood Dragon's protests died away as he realised the beautiful creature he had before him. Digging in his heels he started to move back towards where the Black Knights were keeping their route of retreat clear.
Quicly following them Cerberus, Erick and Laura were pulled up behind knights as Arion kept pace on his own steed. Within moments the armoured unit were charging back through the fray.

*******************************************

As Dythor licked over the Guilts face something seemed to snap inside her. Some memory long locked away bubbled to the surface.

"You know you want it slut."
"No no please. I have money, you can take it." Scrabbling in the dirt, strong hands pinning her down.
"Oh don't worry, I'll have that as well." A coarse laugh followed by the sound of tearing.
"No please!" Sobbing over and over, a cold blast of air on unprotected skin and then-

A scream echoed over the battlefield as the Guilt raked her long nails across Dythor's throat. Blood spurted forth as he staggered back from the now enraged creature in front of her, he eyes wide and furious. But she held onto him like death as she with drew her blade.
"You like that?" she hissed, "lets see how you like this, Lover" With a another thrust she rammed the blade into her own groin, apparently splitting open her genitalia as it was forced in before she withdrew it with savage tear. From Dythors groin a blood stained patch grew larger his he was castrated, his genitals flopping and falling down one trouser leg.

****************************************

Looking over the Duke could see the Strigoi was close to being defeated. For reasons unknown to himself the Blood Dragon lord had put Victarias over his steed, the vampiress unconscious from loss of blood. With a final punch to the Executioner felled the vampire before turning to face the Duke.
"That is my prize you are taking vermin," the Dread Lord said hefting his massive axe, "or are you another looking to commit suicide?"

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

As the cavalry thundered through Draithon caught a glimpse of Graveclaws prone body lying behind Executioner. Motioning for Erik and Laura to follow him he angled through the battle towards the strigoi, Malice smashing through the skeletons that bared their way.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Dythor continued laughing as he hit the ground again. "Is this all you can do?" He asked, his laughter breaking. PAIN!
He spat blood over Guilt, chuckling to himself. "Merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream..." he said, his own claws dragging themselves of the right hand side of his face. PAIN!
"Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock, the grandfather clock, tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock, a seaman in the dock." PAIN!

"A sea a life, a life at sea." PAIN!
"Give me the key." PAIN!
"Why can't you give me what I want?" PAIN!
"CRAZY TRAIN!" PAIN!

I'm empty

Where am I? Who am I?
I see faces...
I see my Sire...
How are you, Minion?
I'm replying. Fine, thanks
Wait! WAIT! WAI--
Blood... I killed... my Sire? How? Or is this an illusion?
I should be dead if I killed my Sire!
He can't have been my Sire!
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"You can't kill..." Dythor grasped, "One who has already... given up... upon their own... life..."
He shuffled forwards on his knees, catching hold of Guilt's wrists and pulling her down towards him.
"You can't kill..." Dythor continued, now choking on his own blood, "Someone who has nothing... to live... for..."
He brought Guilt closer towards, faces touches, their eyes barely an inch apart. The insanity that was within his own eyes. The visions. The illusions of life. What he saw, what he'd seen, what he would see were what Guilt could see, for the briefest of seconds, before Dythor closed his eyes.
"I cannot kill you," he stated, before opening his eyes, now a blaze of fury and rage. "Because you... cannot know... what you live... for... nor why... you live... and that you... would give... your life away... freely is a sign... that you... wish so very much to die, but can't..."
With that, Dythor threw Guilt away, and the Vampire dragged his claws over his mouth. "THE PAIN! MAKE THE PAIN STOP! OH LADY, OH LORD, I SEE THE GRAIL! THE GRAIL IS IN GUILT ITSELF AND I CANNOT HOLD GUILT AWAY FROM ME AND UNTIL I AM RID OF GUILT, I AM STILL BUT A QUEST IN SEARCH OF THAT WHICH YOU CONSIDER MOST HOLY AND MADE OF PURITY AND DUTY AND HONOR!" He roared, tearing the flesh off of his own body.

Finally, Dythor pushed himself to his feet, and turned away from Guilt. "I'll kill you later..." he said, stumbling away, slowly, before collapsing to his knees, panting.
"Blood, blood, a pirate's life for me...
The open sea
A tender ale
A vicious wind's gale
No more a life
A pirate's knife
A pirate's life
No more a knife
Blood, blood, blood,
I naught not could..."
Adrenaline... it's running out... soon I'll collapse and die...
Maybe that's for the best?

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

As Cerberus glanced in the direction of the dark elf, he noticed the prone forms of what appeared to be a male and a female vampire. The latter stabbed herself in the groin, and rather than having suffered the tremendous damage of the wound, the male vampire seemed to accrue it instead. The male vampire finally pushed away from the female and staggered a few steps before collapsing.

Cerberus cursed beneath his breath and angled the nightmare towards the male vampire.

The female seems to be in league with the Innocence.

“I am very well aware of that, thank you very much”, he hissed.

As he drew close to the Guilt, Cerberus began chanting under his breath, channeling the winds of magic. It would have been a foolish and masochistic move to attack the Guilt directly, that much he had observed. Instead, he froze the air around the Dreadlord, encasing her in a globe of ice. He was careful to ensure that it froze a handsbreath away from her body, for fear that she would transfer the effects unto him.

Beings do not take kindly to being encaged.

“So you see fit to remind me in your every action, word, and thought.”

Cerberus leapt off of his nightmare, channeling the remnants of the magic he drawn to himself to cool the now seemingly unconscious male vampire’s body down. With any luck it would put him in a cryogenic state, diminishing the potentially lethal effects of the wounds he had suffered should they remain untreated for long. Hefting the unconscious vampire up, Cerberus remounted the nightmare and strapped the vampire as best he could behind him. With a parting glance to the Guilt, Cerberus hastened to catch up with the Lahmian and Necrarch.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

Lesa's temporary disruption of the Dread Lords' control over their undead minions had reminded Geralt of something he didn't even think of doing. He almost slapped his forehead with his palm but realised that to do so while in combat would probably end with him beheaded. He took several steps back behind the small cadre of paratrooper wights still conducting a fighting retreat in order to buy himself some time. He pulled upon the Winds of Magic as he channeled the Sign of Axii on his palm and released it. While useless on the unthinking lesser undead, the Sign of Axii triggered a wave of hallucinations on the living Nagashi, causing them to see enemies as friends and friends where they were none.

Geralt began to move forward while repeatedly using the Sign, and within a few moments the frontal ranks of the Nagashi was thrown into utter chaos as they began hacking at each other.

*********

Sweeney Todd watched with a mixture of surprise and trepidation as the charge of the Blood Knights hit home and cleaved a path through the legions of the Dread Lords. Now was possibly the worst time for him to have to continue the duel with the unknown Blood Dragon champion he had met in the Battle of Sylvania.

Even in the midst of battle Todd could still spy many members of the Council fleeing via various means. It dawned upon him that to at least survive this battle he would have to secure safe passage through the force of the Red Duke, or better yet, fight alongside them as they pulled out.

It was just then that a peculiar bird fell through the skies to perch upon his shoulder. Up this close the Black Albatross was unmistakeable.

"The Red Duke's forces are not the enemy. Ignore them and attack the rest." And with a slight nudge the Albatross was up and away, carrying the message to Mrs. Lovette who no doubt was preparing to strike.

In the meantime, he signalled to Geralt and Toby to change course, nodding appreciatively at Geralt's work. The taskforce began to cut its way towards the positions of the Red Duke's forces, where Todd approached alone and raised his voice to be heard above the din of battle.

"Hold! We are not your enemy this day. I shall speak with your lord later, but for now I seek a truce."

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

"Beast, You dare stand before a Lord of Nagash!" the Executioner shouted into Graveclaws face. The Strogie grunted in return, this beings strength was increadeble easily a match for the powerful ghoulking "Graveclaw don't care, Graveclaw alwayssss win!". A wet gurgling sound emitted from Graveclaws thot as a stream of black congested blood squirted into the Executioners face blinding him, as Graveclaw turned and fled.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

"A truce you have," bellowed the Blood Knight champion as his sword cut through another Nagashi. The unit was slowly having to force its way through the pressing body of enemy warriors, the mounted wights having finally been destroyed.
On the back of the steeds the Council fought like daemons with the Duke's knights, Lesa and V'azrin aiding with magic wherever they could. Joining the group Sweeney, Geralt and Toby were each pulled up behind a Knight to make a swifter pace.

"You cannot escape your fate!" A cold voice of hatred blew across the battlefield as the wind intensified. Glancing upwards Lesa could see the Innocence had completed his vortex and screamed at the others,
"We must move faster!" Yet it was in vain. With a roar the massive hurricane twisted towards the ground, faster than any could outrun. But before it hit the sky suddenly darked as something else happened. As a magical shockwave hit them Lesa realised the Sentence has unleashed his spell.

*******************************

As the Strigoi fled the Duke took his chance. Thundering forward he leaned to the right, blade swinging in a perfect arc. Blinded by sick the Dread Lord reacted instinctively, axe swinging upwards. It partly worked. As his blade struck the axe's shaft it twisted, sliding along before impaling itself through the Executioners throat, rather than beheading him. Gurgling the Dread Lord fell to his knees, black blood pouring down his chest.
Unarmed the Duke prepared to turn round and finish the job, yet as the sky darkened he knew he did not have time. Seeing his knights in the distance he pulled his steeds reins round, before galloping as fast the undead horse could take him.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

The shockwave combined with the force of the gale sent Draithon flying through the air, dust and bones scraping across his armour at astronomical speeds. With a splat of wet flesh Malice cannoned through a group of Nagashi his, great weight holding him on the floor. As if in an after thought he swallowed the corpse of a nearby human and then lumbered towards the road from the citadel, his great eyes wild with confusion and following the last seen direction of its master.

Draithon was not so lucky, he careered through the air and along the slope, easily overtaking the knights. With a thud he smashed into an outcrop of rock and snow, gasping in pain as his leg shattered, a particularly large gash opened on his back and just about every bit of his body was bruised and shaken. Releasing the tension in his muscles he closed his eyes.
"Finally rest, thankful rest.........."

Only to be awoken a minute later by incessant butting on his chest, the form of his coldone loomed above him, eyeing him questioningly. He sighed,
"Oh all right"

Wincing in pain Draithon climbed on to the saddle and began the Invocation of Nehek on his leg.

They waited for the others.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

V'azrin bounced about on the back of the horse as the knights fled from the servants of Nagash.
Even as they rode the Necrarch closed his eyes, he could see the malestrom of power as the magic was launched by the two Dark Lords, even as he witnessed the power he smirked faintly.
You failed Rahotep he thought smugly.

_________________________________________________________

Sentence snarled as he unleashed his spell, a wave of Dark Power washed out from him towards the council, the black shadowy force propelled forward by a powerful gale.
However sensing something amiss he looked up to the top of the citadel
And almost screamed as he saw Innocence's vortex spell unleashed towards the council, and it was obvious to any mage what was going to happen with two such spells being aimed at one target.
Even as the winds roared the Necrarch Dark Lord threw back his head
"INNOCENCE YOU FOOL!" he screamed angrily
And the two elementally powerful spells met and the Dark Lords world became one of dizzingly powerful forces pushing down on him, and then darkness.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

The colliding attacks of the Dread Lords backfired. The pull of the magic dragged the vortex backwards, before an almighty explosion shook the ground. The spells weave had come apart with catastrophic consequences, and the Citadel paid the price. What was left of the once proud castle was ripped apart, stones and rubble showering down. Too close to the Citadel the Dread Lords did not have time to escape and all four of them disappeared under the rain of boulders.
Already on the move away, the Council managed to escape being caught, riding as if all the daemons of hell were on their backs. As the Dread Lords were hit the animated dead in their way dropped to the ground, inanimate once more. For the few Nagashi cultists it was too much. Turning around they ran as fast as they could, more than a few dying to the galloping knights. As the Red Duke met up again with his warriors, the champion bowed his head,
"Where to now Master?" Before he could answer Lesa turned to face the Duke,
"Take us to Drakenhof. We must thank you for our rescue, and we have much to talk about." Nodding in agreement, the Duke took point once more, thundering down the path to the plains of Sylvania.

*****************************************

It was some hours later before the rubble that remained of the Violet Citadel shifted. A trembling took over them before suddenly a powerful force scattered them in every direction.
Standing up the Sentence looked around. Around him the other Dread Lords were standing to their feet. The Guilt seemed no worse for wear, no doubt she had not even been touched by the rocks. The Executioner though battered and bruised, seemed to not be bothered as he ripped a long blade out of his throat. The Innocence was the final one to stand, limping as walked over to the rest of the Dread Lords.
"What did you do?!" he hissed at the Sentence, anger ringing in his voice, "Your interference cost us this battle!"
"I did nothing, "the Sentence spat back, "I was about to destroy them when your damn typhoon got in the way-" Before they argument could escalate a cold voice sounded in their heads.
"Come to me. Now" Looking at each other the Dread Lords knew what each other was feeling. The Lord of Undeath was summoning them back, and he did not sound pleased.

RE: TVC - Chapter 29 - Seige

The dust settled, and in moments the mighty host of Nagash's force had disappeared. What remained of the Duke's forces was a faint trail of dust, ever rising from the mountainside where they rode. Of Vekarin, there was only left a patch of discolored earth upon the ground where his body once lay. Beside it stood a dark figure.
"Long did you escape the eye of the Dark Lord." Zosz rasped, his unseen eyes peering over the ruined landscape, "But in your pride, and your berserk rage against life you never believed he would hunt you for your crimes against him. If you believed in what was taught of you, what you used to hold so dear, perhaps this situation would never had arisen. You were always the fool, Vekarin, my master."
And with that, Zosz disappeared.
