Hello my fellow vampires! This is going to be my plog. Hopefully it will motivate me to paint and assemble a good standing army instead of jumping from project to project.

A little bit about me: I've been into the hobby for some years. I started with the Lord of the Rings strategy game (Gondor soldiers were the first-ever miniatures that I painted). I then moved on to warhammer and the BFSP box set. That got my first army started: Dwarves! After many years of dwarf-painting I got somewhat bored and decided to move on. I painted miniatures from many armies until I came upon the VC book which I imediatelly bought along with the new Wight King. I've also dabbled a little with the warriors of the far future (Black Templars and Tzeentch Chaos Marines).

So, here we are! These are my first 10 ghouls. Enjoy!

Here's my Wight King, the first VC miniature I painted! I got the idea for the glowing eyes from this forum so, thank you all!

I like the green-gold WK As for the ghouls - colour scheme is fine, but the blood could use some work - especially on the ghast - it was too dry and it looks more like real red paint than blood - mix some water with paint and you'll get better results, I think - but that may also be a matter of close-up photo - they always reveal faults unseen in person The bluuryghoul has good blood/meat Other than this thing, they are a very good start

I truly agree Borgnine. I painted Mr.Blurry after the Ghast and since then I had improved my blood technique .

Now for a question. I've been wanting to make a mounted Wight King and I don't really like the existing models. Except of the obvious: "Use the Black Knights set to make him", is there any other possible way to go about it?

Fine Vargheists I'm only a little curious how are you going to rank the leader with the rest of them? Ranking up messes so many good ideas for models....

As for the mounted wight king - be sure to look HERE for an inspiration. My own idea is to greenstuff tomb king skeleton horsemen, but that's working on almost empty canvas...

Well, I, too, was under the impression that Vargheists need to be ranked up but I watched a friend use them in a skirmish formation in his battles. After some googling I found out that they indeed use the "skirmish" rule even though the book doesn't say so. That prompted me to convert the leader's wings. :konrad:

All flyers are skirmishing, that indeed makes them spaced, but remember that when in combat, they go into tight formation But don't worry, no matter what you do, something isn't going to neatly rank up during real combat - it'll work out somehow There may be some difficulties from time to time, but that shouldn't hinder cool conversions

I gave the musician a lance as well. How else is he supposed to fight? Hit the pesky living with his horn?

Thank you for your comments people! It feels good coming from the mouths (and keyboards) of fellow miniature lovers.

Unfortunatelly, I currently am at my home city and away from my miniatures which means I won't be able to post new pictures until late August - early September. Until then, I might get around to writing down my army's lore and posting it here.

Great work on the wight king BSB and fun idea for the banner. Your necros are very unique. What models are they?

Thanks for the comment @jediguru! The first necromancer is made entirely from the flagellant box. I tweaked the weapons from it and added a skull for the staff (and a knife from the GG kit although it's not visible here). The second one's body and head is from the flagellants as well while his arms come from the High Elf Mage box. :konrad:
