Mannfred is on a Nightgheist.. New monster of some kind..

Yes the Vampires fled from Nagash, but if Vlad is back, he will be wearing the one ring forged by Nagash which gives him control over the Vampires.

That item was split into two, the eye of Nagash and the Carstein ring.
The former being destroyed by Gotrek and the latter in hiding walled up with its current user Jerik Von Carstein.

So unless they have given two fingers to the lore this should be the same as before but who knows with GW cannon. ;)

What I have only just realised is that the Morghast Heralds are different from the Morghast Harbingers... These are two different Units/Character types (Not a clue where they fit in, though Id guess either as a Character or Special & Rare). From what it looks like these are Nagash's version of Daemons.

I will take your word for it as I do not remember reading that myself but my rise to power has not been without cost to my humanity...;)

I wonder if all those heroes, with 1000pts Nagash, Neferata and rumored Abhorash doesn't herald the coming back of the herohammer? Shifting the games to the heroes would make game more affordable and more distinct from WH40K which was a problem for GW for some time. VC players were always playing herohammer so it's not a big issue for us, but there will be plenty of people who won't like it, for sure ;) But well, we'll see - things are changing, let's hope for the best

Mannfred must be pissed, he is now more powerful than Vlad ever was, so he will have to bend the knee like all the other vamps, and wait till the time is right to kill Vlad

one thing kind of bothers me so far.....
Sigmar's blood sees Manfred capturing an Empire Grand Theogonist and he holds one of the nine books of nagash.....

Now we have fluff where nagash comes back, with his nine books and has Vlad as a minion....
Wtf happened to Mannfred?

Mannfred is pretty much the sole reason Nagash has been resurrected. Nagash is the most massive asshole you can possibly imagine, but he DOES reward those of his followers who work well and complete their objectives (just like he smacks down curse after curse on those that fail). Whilst Mannfred would be the youngest of his Lieutenants, he is likely very high ranking within the pecking order.

This would surely create tension with Vlad, who would have had to be ressurrected by Nagash, and without his ring would be quite handicapped in terms of power, a mere shadow of his former self whilst Mannfred outpowers even his Count Mannfred version (pending rules, but given the Mount alone it looks likely...).

Neferata would be further down the pecking order, because Nagash is not an idiot and highly cunning, so would be able to see Neferata's "bended knee" for what it was, simply to get back her own kingdom of Lahmia.

I have no idea what happened to Arkhan after Nagash's first (and second) fall. I know he's a special character in the TK army book but that doesn't really make sense, since TK hate Nagash, they'd surely hate his right hand man as well. Depends how they plan to fluff him. In the novelisation he comes across more as a ruthless but opportunistic slimeball.

I'm not sure what happened after the second fall, but he did turn him into a "lichelord" before the rise of the TK. In the current TK book he rivaled Settra in terms of military prowess, and out-preformed the other priests of the TK. He was fighting 50/50 with Settra's control, but gave what the book describes as a "false promise of loyalty" to Settra, to avoid conflicts. He has a huge tower in Nekhartha.

I would like some clarification from the people that have read Sigmars blood though. Nagash was resurrected 1.666 right? It says so in the current timeline for the VC book. But he didn't die again after that? Or was he just alive fore one day? And then Manfred sacrificed the elf princess to resurrect him again?

So you think Mannfred resurrected Nagash? He just turned an Empire Grand Theogonist into a vampire..... im curious as to how they fluff this timeline out lol

Also there is a new book called return of Nagash by josh Reynolds comng out that should solve fluff issues (and obviously what he was old to stop writing blood dragon for and why he was sworn to secrecy)

Haven't finished reading the novelisation of Sigmar's Blood yet, but yeah, the fluff from the dwarf book in which Mannfred kidnaps the elf princess, plus on top of that he stole the Crown of Nagash out from underneath the Empire's Grand Council, and secedes from the Empire which causes the Sigmar's Blood campaign. So yeah, Mannfred is the driving force behind Nagash's resurrection. At some point he also declares that the Von Carstein faction is devoting their resources towards resurrecting Nagash but I'm not sure where I got that info from =P Just picked it up on a forum somewhere.

@El Syf, hopefully that will be a full blown novel and not just a novelette like the Sigmar's Blood fiction.

Mannfred may of had one of the nine books of Nagash which may of made Mannfred under the will of Nagash unknowning just like Kemmler and that orc who had the crown of Nagash (Azhag) or something, he found the crown in some ruins, it speaks to him, almost like the one ring it makes him travels south towards where it came from, he resists alittle and several orcs see him arguing with himself.

So I guess I'm the only one that isn't liking the new models. I feel that every new release from GW is worse then the last one.
I can't deny that the sculpts are good but the style is not to my liking at all apart from the spirit hosts which are ok.
I might as well get an old Skeletor toy from He-Man to use as Nagash.

Supreme Lord of The Undead?

The source can insist all he wants, I will still believe hes talking about mannfred and not vlad. The roll described is that of mannfed from storm of chaos, all of the lead up to nagash's return fluff has centered around mannfred, and manfred gets pride of place in the new mortarch kit, not vlad.

personally, I'm hoping kemmler and krell get some attention in this campaign. I guess we'll see in a week and a half.

Oh the new model IS manny. If Vlad gets resurrected he won't get a new model it looks like.

I fear for my favorite VC character Zacharias. Where's the Necrarch love with this release? The only bloodline to stay Nagash loyal, and the Everliving has one of the Nine Books as of the 6th Ed. Armybook.

As to models:
Nagash has grown on me. Spirit Hosts are awesome now. Manny's bat head mount is so tough looking I can't not like it. Arkhan is amazing. Neferata is the weakest of the 3, but at least Lhamia players have a dope Lord model now. And the MI guys don't do a thing for me.

I wasn't sure what to think about the "ghasts" at first, but then I realized how differently I would paint them, and now I really like 'em. Dark bones.. Mabye slightly etherial. Idk. But not all white bones, and blue armor. Yuchh..

More importantly I am wondering about their rules. They apparently reduce crumbling for units (referenced in the Nagash rules), their weapons are painted etherial, they have wings, the same armor as Nagash, they are made of bones.. And they come with halberds, and two hand weapons.

Is this going to be some crazy 50+ point MI?

I am more interested in if this is going to be an official warhammer armies book or are these units that will be add ons to TK/VC. And then the question in my mind is if they are tournament legal in things like ETC, ATC, and the various american tournaments.

You're definitely not the only one. Spirit hosts are the only ones I truly like. The actual characters themselves (Mannfred, Neferata and Arkhan) look good, but the mounts don't do it for me. Mannfred's in particular looks like it's stepped leaped out of Power Rangers or Transformers: Beast Wars.

I'll have to see other paint jobs before I decide; I first thought the Dark Eldar Khymerae were awful, but changed my mind after seeing a colour scheme different to GW's. It's amazing how much the paintwork affects a model.

I am thoroughly impressed with Nagash. He is the reason my gaming group is interested in dusting off our fantasy stuff now. Like many of you, I too will be very broke in the coming months after these releases.

However, I am kinda questioning the whole "lore of undeath." It's very clear from the pics that it will be available to every army now, which I think is bogus. I know I'm just being covetous, but raising the dead is kinda, you know, our thing... and no one else's (except TK. You're cool, TK). I'm hoping there will be some kind of limit/price/consequence of using the powers of the dead, especially for races I would think abhor necromancy (looking at you, Elves, etc.). Then again, it could be a cool opportunity to showcase some unique undead from around the Old World. Anyone else have any input on this?

I like the idea of armies or wizards that use Lore of Undeath (outside of TK and VC) getting some sort of penalty for doing so, like maybe if Nagash is in the opposing army, the spell might backfire; or Nagash could gain control of the wizard or any troops raised; or the rest of the army turns on the wizard for heresy and kills him. Something like that.
