Well.. He did say "Count" so I assumed it was about that one. The little ones might be +50 pts for level 1, and then if you wish Dark Acolyte to make them level 2, that makes sense.

He was definitely talking about level 2 to 3. As far as the little Vampire's go, they are all level 1 base.

p.s. Also noticed today that the Varghulf's are only M8.

Thralls lv 1 base? bit powerful, maybe they should need to be upgraded to lv1 for something like 50pts?

Remember, they are trying to shift away from the necromancer being the focus of the army. So if you are going to have a Vamp as your general in under 2k, you need him/her to be a magic user right off the bat.

all this is making me :)
So vamps are reg Lv 1 who can be Lv 2 for 50 pts, while Necros are only Lv 1, but can buy spells instead? Crazy! But just crazy enough for it to work.

And the reason why its rate expensive for a vamp to be a Lv 2 is probably the fact that he is still a killing machine. Kinda like an Orge butcher - Same price as a dark elf mage, except +2 toughness, +1 strenght and immune to poison... Not to mention the "knows all the ogre spells" part of him. Fair trade up IMO

Mmm, vampy goodness

Yes Vampires (old thralls) start at and level 1. The only way for them to be level two is to pay for the blood line power.

Vampire counts START at level two and you can pay 50 pts to be level 3 or use some of your vampire points to by the upgrade. If you want you can do both creating a level 4

I've been browsing this forum for a while now and after reading Mr Fluffy's last post I thought I'd chip in, to save confusion (I'm sat with the book in front of me, to avoid screwups) although I apologise in advance for raining on your parade...

Vampires (Hero) - are just lvl 1 when you buy them, with no option to be upgraded to level 2 besides purchasing the Dark Acolyte power from the Arkayne (no, that's not a typo) Bloodlines.

Counts (Lord) - Start as a lvl 2 when you buy them, with the option to become level 3 for 50 points and then can purcahse the Dark Acolyte power on top of this to become level 4.

Hope that helped.

(edit - seems I got beaten to the punch by Dethail)

Hay Synthesis what are we looking at points wise for the spirit host as compared to the current host? same question for fell bats?

You have the book already? Brilliant, we (NZ) still have 4 weeks to go.

Few things...

Does the army composition change like the HE did (more special units and rares) or does it stay the same?

Are the bloodline powers posted previously correct?

On an average battle (2000pts) how much magic can you throw at your opponent (victim)?:|:?::!:

ok, in order

Angelica
- The new thralls are more expensive, by about 25% ... well worth it in my opinion.

Mannfred
- The spirit host is the same, although I wished it had been given a points break.

- The army comp for 2k is still 3 core (skellies/zombies/ghouls only) and all the rest are still standard as per the BRB.

- The bloodline powers/effects are correct for the most part, with only flying horror seeming incorrect from a brief scan of the list previously posted, it's actually less than than the value posted there. Having to fork out for Avatar of Death to give people a great weapon is a real pain in the butt. I'll go through the list in detail tomorrow and update this bit as needed.

- At 2k you could go all out and get 17 dice if you felt like throwing Master of the Dark Arts on all four characters (vampires all round!) and using the black periapt to squeeze in another extra dice, and thats before possible bound spell shenanigans. I gave it a shot at my local store and watching someone throw a scroll at a Raise Dead cast on 4+ (skullstaff), just because they're sick of seeing 40+ zombies/other gribblies get back up each turn, is great fun.

Are Vargulfs as fast and hard hitting as what rumours would suggest? (can you post stats, not sure if it is allowed)

I'm not even going near the subject of stats, even with a 10ft pole

Suffice to say it's essentially an old thrall with average steed movement, lower WS, more wounds, more attacks, eternal hatred, no flanks/rear (bestial fury), terror and regeneration.

It's good, but I've yet to see what effect it has on the field as I'm sticking mine together last (It's huge!)

Lots of Zombies is great, that VC should be all about-war of attrition, though the Skeleton models are great I never use them because if you ask me they belong in TK which leads me to another question...

Can Ghouls be summoned as well, my core will generally be Zombies and Ghouls so far to lock down opponents and Vargulfs and Black Knights to hit them in the side (rear if possible).

I'd say go back to the Bloodline Powers list earlier in this thread for the answer to that, the Master power 'Summon Ghouls' should answer the question =)

It's the one from my local store, I've had my Vampire Counts army drafted in to become the store display one (they recently lost their VC collecting staff member, so were rather stuffed). In exchange I've got the book to go crazy with until my spearhead arrives, as I need a working army for the day of release.

My bad-missed that one

Everything looks good so far (my HE are getting lonelier and lonelier),

Fluff wise I remember hearing something about a 'vampire war.' Without going into specifics (I would like some surprises) is their any storyline changes?

Gotta go, my computer is slower than a wet week and only getting slower.

lol, quadruple posting!

well I saw the store copy of the book and I found a few mess ups in what we've got on the site.

I saw, IoN raises d6 + 4 zombies and just d6 everything else. Also the names of the Vampire powers are "The Arkayne", "The Beatialle", and "The Martialle."

Also, Count Mannfred gets his normal PD from his lvl 4 wizard, the +2 from the Vampire Powers, AND he gets +1 dice in HIS power dice pool or dispel dice (depending on whose turn is next) for every wound he deals with his sword.

Also "The Master" vampire powers aren't +1 to the number raised, its +1 to cast.
