I live in the UK, it seems to be spreading everywhere, its even in the small towns where i'm from! Luckily I generally hang out in the geek community and avoid those people!

I went to my first Magic the gathering small tournament thing last week, it was great! I had never been to one before (being a new Magic player). That is pretty much all I have been up to recently, finished my degree back in July, waiting to start my Masters.

I did some work experience the other day, and am now employed. Also, another person managed to piggy back a job off me (the employer wanted me but was willing to take on this other person on the understanding I would help them out)
Also, my birthday is in 6 days (on the 19th of august) and I will be going to the greyhounds with family for a nice meal and etcetera.

I'm way ahead of you, mate. I've had a terrific bardiche around for years, and it still remains a marvel of handling to me. It's a perfect example to use when disproving the common myths that medieval arms and armour were slow and clumsy -- with a five-foot shaft and a weight of somewhere in between four and five pounds it really whistles through the air when swung, and it still hits with great power since that weight is concentrated at the end of the long shaft. Chop!

That is pretty badass! I almost got sick from trying to track the motion of the strobes, haha.

Well, I had a very relaxing weekend for my birthday with the soon to be. I'm scheduling a time to take the soon to be's mother out for dinner to officially ask her for permission to marry her daughter. She's already said she's cool with it, but I want to be official!

Aside from that, I'm just painting away...

Update for me: My wife had gastric bypass surgery last month, and is recovering nicely. I've introduced her to Warhammer and got her painting dark elves during her recovery, and I may even get her to play at some point.

I am still recovering a little from my weekend. Those who are on facebook will have seen a met up with my brother for the first time in 15 years. He is gay, so met up with him and his partner at Gay Pride in Brighton.

Went really well, and was a great experience. Everyone was relaxed and having fun, and really enjoyed getting to know my brother. I also drank a silly amount of alcohol, by midday I had drunk 3x double vodka's, and then proceeded to carry on through to 2330 when I finally left the street party and stumbled onto a train home. Good times

Good to hear Losing touch with family sucks, but re-establishing that bond is an amazing experience. Sounds like you had a great time.

I'll post a picture of the wife's first Dark Elf in the appropriate forum, as soon as I can take a picture of it. Neither of us are great shakes at painting, but hey.

I think Pride is always fantastic, no matter where you are. I got to march in it once, as a volunteer for Planned Parenthood. It rained on us the whole time and I had a blast.

@ Darksir; hopefully your wife will feel a lot better soon, just a month after such intense surgery cannot be easy even if she is recovering well. Best of wishes to her.

@ DoN really nice to hear about your reunion with your brother and pretty cool you went out to meet him at a Pride. I think meeting at something like that also makes it less formal and much more relaxed(well relaxed...eh you know what I mean LOL).

As for me surgery might be up a lot sooner than I thought which is good because it has to be done anyway but also messing up some other plans. The date is still not set in stone so I'll just have to wait and see.

Tomorrow advanced Hebrew classes which means a splitting headache afterwards because the teacher is like a drill-sergeant.
the family portrait I'm doing is almost completed and I'm pretty happy with it which is very rare for me as I'm really the worst critic out there and are even a hundred times harder on myself thereby hardly finishing anything.

Bought a book at the second-hand book store today about Chagall which really made my day as he's a distant relative(very, very distant but so cool and really inspiring to me).
Big art book with all his works for only 5 euros and it looks like new!

@merenwen the leaving cert , Irish a levels I suppose it would be. Didnt do as well as I'd hoped but we'll see about any university offers on monday. If that doesnt go well I can always repeat it.

I got exam results on Thursday as well, English A levels, will be at Oxford university come October . Though not being particularly posh, celebrated with my mates with 38 hour drinking session (which caused a serious amount of pain to my wallet).

I managed to get the majority of my fingers broken early on in summer as well (recovered now) so has been a bit dull over the last couple of months.

CRD: Ouch about the fingers, but sounds like you did well so congrats. Oxford uni is really good as well, so well done!


Well currently I am working on trying to get all my siblings together (that's 3 brothers inc me, and one sister) - we haven't actually been out together......ever, so will be interesting.

Other than that, life as usual. Saw the inbetweeners movie the other day and nearly coughed up a lung I was laughing so much. Also saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Really liked that, both the acting and the CGI were really well done, and was surprisingly moving at points, enough to make the missus nearly start crying.....bless her

DON: I really want to see the Inbetweeners movie! The Planet of the apes movie was made by Weta Works, (the company that made Lord of the Rings, Avatar, King Kong, Halo games, etc) thats why the graphics are great! I absolutely love Weta!

Today is the start of a new term with my fencing group. I've been looking forward to this for a long time now, seeing as they all went AWOL over the summer when I in my mind had planned a semester of passionate studying of both swords [/passionate] and school. I've also heard that there might be quite a few new folks that'll come around to try it out... up until this point I've always been the proverbial "new guy" in the group.

But that's all over now.

I'm gonna wail on the newbies SO hard with my sword, and everyone involved will love it.
