The von Carsteins have just the right amount of smarminess, I think. They hold themselves to the highest standards. Compare to -
Strigoi - what's that? You're digging up old corpses for blood? Come on, you're the vampire equivalent of a hobo.
Blood Dragon - killing, killing, killing, all the time, no sense of style or sophistication.
Necrarch - bah, they have no appreciation for the finer things. I mean, they're rotting cadavers! What self-respecting vampire could let that happen to themselves?
Lahmians - they're very good at pretending to be upper class, but they lower themselves through their pitifully unsubtle attempts at seduction. No true aristocrat would descend to that level.

The von Carstein family. Because we're simply better than you.

 You mean some vampires survive without proper cosmetic treatment?

Oh, the poor barbarians! I would almost pity them, but they have already demonstrated their lack of wisdom by not choosing to be born von Carstein.

Necrarch, all the way, every time of the day!
No need for blood (altough that doesn't mean I won't kill virgins for it.. it's just I can first have fun with them before I drink, ithout only thinking about blood..)
I like science/physics.
A like Frankenstein... but worse!
Even when being the worst fighting vampire around, they're quite good fighters compared to other races.
I really like characters who can do multiple things, so magic AND combat. Vampires are all pretty good fighters, but magic is more important for me: why risk being killed in combat when you can raise soldiers to kill your enemy, or just blasting the enemy in a million pieces with you magic?

Oh, the poor barbarians! I would almost pity them,

You sound perfect for a Lahmian!!!!

But then you showed your complete lack of taste and intelligence by picking Von Carstein.

No, you would just never do to be one of the Sisterhood... just no class at all...

Blood Dragon of course...oh and do not misunderstand them with beefy mindless Chaos Khornites.

Blood Dragons have both knowledge in killing, intellect in doing that exactly as it should be and the actual killing power do do it...far superior to the rest plus they are true honorable fighters.

Respect!

I think you mean too much class. The von Carsteins have much higher standards.

A Lahmian is akin to... you know, there's a Tilean myth about a woman named Pasiphae. She was the wife of King Midas of Sartosa; this was back in ancient times when Sartosa was still a kingdom and not infested with unsavouries of a piratical type. King Midas was a wise and pious king, but he struggled with his brothers for the kingship. The great god Manann was pleased with his devotion and wanted to help King Midas, so he sent Midas a white bull. This bull was to be a sign from the gods that Midas was the rightful ruler.

After triumphing, Midas vowed to sacrifice the bull to Manann to thank him for this aid. However, looking upon it he coveted the sacred bull and did not desire to lose it. In its place, Midas sacrificed an ordinary bull. Manann was enraged and cursed Pasiphae, to punish Midas. Pasiphae was overcome with unnatural lust for the white bull. Making a bull disguise, she seduced the bull, and bore its child. According to the Tileans, this child was the first of the minotaur race. These monsters would spread and ravage the lands of the Old World, and are a plague we are not yet free of today.

Do you see the moral of the story yet? The Lahmian is as Pasiphae, and the bull is as a mortal man. Nought but ill can come of sleeping with your food.

Very interesting story FVC.. I never knew what the story or myth was that was behind the Minotaur..

It reminds me however, of another myth, one more prudent to the ruling class of the Lahmians.

In Greek myth, it is known as 'the rape of Europa', being as though in Greek myth, deciding to seduce or ravage was seen as being almost the same thing. Though from the myth, it does not appear that Europa was taken against her will at all.

The legend goes that Zeus was enamored of Europa, a Phoenician aristocrat from the lineage of Io, and that he decided to seduce or ravage her. To do so, Zeus transformed himself into a tame, white bull, and mixed himself into her father's herds. While Europa and her maidens were out gathering flowers, she saw the white bull, caressed his flanks, and eventually got onto his back. Zeus took his opportunity, and ran to the sea and swam, with Europa on his back, to the island of Crete. Once there Zeus revealed his true idenity and made Europa his queen. He then bestowed gifts upon his queen, including a javalin that never missed.

The Romans also adopted the myth, being much like the Von Carsteins they tried to emulate the obviously superior society, and it was known as 'the abduction of europa' or 'the seduction of europa', with Jupiter replacing Zeus in the myth.

Hopefully, you are able to see the moral of this story FVC. Like Zeus, Lahmians are gods/godesses, who take many forms and never reveal their true identity until needed. We manipulate, and we convive, and you are not aware of who we are until it is too late. We shower gifts on those we love, and destroy those we hate. Others try to emulate us, as the Romans did with Jupiter trying to emulate Zeus, and like the Von Carsteins try to play the aristocrat, but they always come up short. By the time you are aware of our prescence, we are already gone..

Bah, shame on you, darknesseternal! You broke verisimilitude! At least I switched a few names around to tell my Greek myth with some Warhammer flavour, but no...

As to your story?

Far be it from me to point out that the Romans conquered the Greeks. No, I think I shall let the Romans defend themselves.

Martial said:
Since you boast of being a fellow citizen of Corinthian wares, and no one contradicts you, why am I called a brother to you, when I am born of Iberians and Celts and a fellow citizen of the Tagus river? Do we seem to have similar faces? You go around well-groomed with curled tresses, I with defiant Spanish hair; you are smooth from a daily hair-remover, I am hairy on my legs and cheeks; your mouth is lisping and your tongue is weak, even a daughter of mine will speak louder: An eagle is not more different from a dove, or a fleeing doe from a sturdy lion. Therefore, Charmenion, stop calling me a "brother", lest I call you a "sister."

Apologies FVC....

As far as the Lahmians go and our relationship with the mortal cattle... I think the ancient greek playwright Aristophanes summed it up far better than any Roman pleb could when he wrote...

Shining tempters formed of air, symbols of desire;
And so we act, beckoning, alluring foolish men
Through their dishonest dreams of gain to overwhelming
Ruin. There, schooled by suffering, they learn at last
To fear the gods.

Oh, it's on. You want a classical poetry war, I'll give you one.

Juvenal said:
From all the crowds of women, can you not find one who is decent?
Suppose she is beautiful, graceful, wealthy, fertile, and also
has ancient ancestors dotting her hallway; suppose she is purer
than any Sabine with streaming hair who stopped a war -
a rare bird, as strange to the earth as a black swan;
who could endure a wife who was such a paragon? Better,
better, I say, a common slut than you, Cornelia,
mother of the Gracchi, if you combine with your massive
virtues
a disdainful expression, and count your triumphs as part of your
dowry.
Take your Hannibal, please; take your Syphax, who lost
that battle in his camp; take all of Carthage; and then, take off!

Arrogance becomes you not, Lahmian wench.

From the catalogue of women, attributed to Hesoid but which is in dispute..

"Sing now of the tribe of women, sweet-voiced Olympian Muses,
daughters of aigis-bearing Zeus: those women who were the noblest,
and had sex with gods."

"Eurynome the daughter of Nisus, Pandion's son, to
whom Pallas Athene taught all her art, both wit and wisdom too;
for she was as wise as the gods. A marvellous scent rose from
her silvern raiment as she moved, and beauty was wafted from her
eyes."

Be wary of who you call a wench, your lack of respect is only matched by your lack of insight into our world.

Honestly, you Lahmians and Von Carsteins with your inferior poems, as a mighty Necrach Lord once said:

"Roses are red, violets are blue,
In Soviet Russia, the dead raises you!"

I think my point has been made :P

What point?

That Necrach poetry stinks as badly as the rotting corpses and putrid experiments that you choose to surround yourselves with??!

And I said that Von Carsteins lacked class..... *runs off with tongue firmly planted in cheek*

My, you Lahmians (that is, if you're sure you ARE a Lahmian, you did vote Blood Dragon after all...:P) sure are fixated with such triviallities as class, when are the bloodline competitions (or something along the same lines) starting again, I look forward to proving who the superior bloodline truely is... ;)

I would choose knowledge and true immortality over a little class any day. Of course, you close minded Lahmians and von Carsteins would never understand that true power lies in knowledge. That true immortality does not make you so dependant on blood in order to survive and is more important than your visual appearance.

/rp off

Well, I'll raise a bunker unit to shield me from incoming poetry missiles, and continue with basing my units.

Why do you want power? Power is not an end in itself. Power is a means to an end.

And that end is class.

Knowledge and power are indeed great and to be respected.. but it takes class to wield them successfully..

And class is not something that can be taught or learned, it is simply something that is you.. you are born with it..

As for the way that I voted, it was obviously a Blood Dragon trick, and they talk of having honour.. CG could show some class and amend my vote to where it obviously belongs!! (I wonder if I can get my nose in the air any higher or my tongue planted any further in my cheek.. :P).

Err... I have no intention to do that. Merely because I'm a Strigoi, the rest that follows is obviousss....

Necrarchs... Greateast magicians in the undead ranks. Other lesser bloodlines can never hope to achieve the same level of expertise. Hail W´soran!

ooc: Strigoi is a nice fun bloodline too, as are blood dragons, Lahmia... and well Carstein too but first and foremost Necrarchs.

Cheers
