When is the VC battalion coming out? I'm interested in starting a VC army and thought that buying the battalion first would be ideal but on the website there is no battalion available. What is up with this, does it always take a little bit after the book coming out for the battalion to come out?

Im in the same boat with you but I would assume that they have to decide what will be in the new battalion box since they did just release a new VC book. Im hoping to see Black Knights/Hexwraiths in the new box that would make me extremely happy.
Oh, Calvary would probably make more sense. I was thinking they might put the new Varghiest/Horrors in, but 3 'monsterous' models is far less exciting than 5 knights I would think.Black Baron said:

I thought the rumor was that the only changes to the new battalion was that GW was swapping dire wolves in for zombies? Regardless, if you have access to the "old" battalions via local stores (or what-have-you), I'd pick them up -- it's a good base of core to start with, and even if the new battalion is shiny and spectacular, it's not going to be wasted money.

I hope so too, and there's been no confirmation as far as I am aware. IIRC, the rumour started because an online retailer had listed the battalion for pre-order with those contents (20xskellies, 20xghouls, 10xwoves, CC). There didn't seem to be any information to conflict with this.
Four months? That's quite a long time, last time our book was released the battalion was out at the same time, that was the whole point. Everyone jumping on the VC bandwagon bought the battalion.

It seems general practise now for GW to hold the release of the battalion box when a new army comes out. Same thing happened for Dark Eldar and Necrons as well.
It's so they can make more money off people who can't wait and just buy more core sets.
They do sometimes release a few new things at the same time as the battalion now though, dunno what that could be with VC's though.

Sounds very good, hopefully my LGS will update their stock asap. (All they have are wolves, a necro and the old battalion)
According to the little flier thingy I got at my local, the battalion is being released on the 11th. No idea what's in it though.

20 crypt ghouls
10 dire wolves
1 corpse cart
so basically its the old batallion -20 zombies +10 ghouls +10 dire wolves.
So im as indifferent about it as usual as they have replaced the horrible zombies with more ghouls (I prefer skellies) and dire wolves (dont like the minis that much and I still prefer skellies)

I think they took them out of the box because they are terrible old models?
Also, remember that dire wolves got viable this edition, and they got added in.
Of course, the batallion is only useful if you want a mix-matched army with everything in it.

So I see on websites that you can preorder it and I was wondering is it a good deal, and a good starting point for a starting army or is it better just to buy individually online?
