I have just bought season 2 of True Blood on dvd and watched them all in 1 day  but i cant find the last disc of season 1! ive lost it! :( Ive also been watching supernatural recently, on season 3 now. it reminds me alot of Buffy except with 2 main characters being men who cant act.

@ merenwen: Is your profile picture/avatar/whatever actually you? I assume it is, so I can't say anything rude or nasty... we must not lose the interest of a warhammer girl, or we will die out...

He he, you shouldn't have said that... :devil2:

Anyway, it seems the gift of subtlety has left me for good this time; what I meant to say was could you perhaps not discuss True Blood in this thread but even my icy heart couldn't force me to post it. Go ahead! Do what you like! It's a free world!

And anyway, it's not my place to say *on topic!!!!* as I'm not in a position of power....yet..... xD

But I guess if your TV programmes got you into VC, then it's fair dos. Just please, please, no Twilight.

yep true blood is the best! i havent seen season 3 yet. the books are quite different to the series, i see it like a whole different storyline but the first books are prety much erotica xD which is always fun!

I remember being dragged to see twighlight once and the whole time all i could hear was "its not like in the book", are you one of those types :P I know one of key differences was that Lafayette got killed in the books. Season 3 is very good, I think unlike heroes it gets better with every season!

It wasnt me who brought it up  but i promise :D

I originaly started collecting these when you could have chariots, mummies and vampires all in the same army. Back in the late 80's then through the changes of Tomb Kings and Vampires etc i followed the vampires to where i am today.
The reason i went for the undead at the start was - As a 10yr old child having just watched Jason and the Arganounts for the 1st time was amazed at the skeletons. Then on a trip to Birmingham we happened to wonder past GW and saw some undead painted in the window. That was it for me hooked since then.

Oh well merenwen, no pressure - the future of our hobby rests with you!

xD

lol, completely forgot about Jason and the Argonauts, but I'm almost certain that that movie,

Along with Army of Darkness. influenced me to VC and my bias against any core troops other then skeletons... I now want to make a model with a chainsaw arm. and a shotgun. Maybe use him as an Empire hero?

Jason and the Arganounts classic ruined by remake series
same as Clash of the titans i prefered the original

As for army of darkness - one of my favourite scene/quote "lets get the hell out of here" love it

Medwayscott: :O ARRR THE PRESSURE! "fails leadership and flees!"

Noooo!!!! Well, at least I've already been born. Everyone, it has been a pleasure. We are all that's left. Let's enjoy ourselves and forget about it; it's not really affecting us, anyway. (Global warming hmmmmmm......)

EDIT: I just rolled two dice for the hell of it and rolled DOUBLE ONES! Insane courage!!! Come back dammit!

Got in to Vampire Counts because ever since I was a little kid I always loved vampires (especially Dracula), the undead and all other horrors of the night. Actually started with it in 5th edition so was around when the army was still called Undead. So when they introduced the bloodlines I was pretty much permanently sold on the army. :vampire2:

Jason and the Argonauts was on TV when I got in this afternoon - missed most of it, but managed to catch the skellies at the end. True classic, and nevermind the modern rehashes.

The kids couldn't get their heads around it. They're so used to seeing CGI, the fact that someone would do all that with a model just didn't seem to make sense.

Not exactly on-topic with Jason and the Argonauts, but this is why I started to play VC:

A lot of my friends played Warhammer, and I wanted to get in on the fun for a while. I was sick and tired of being left out whenever they went down to the local game shop and had 4-way showdowns. So, I decided to get the BRB and find an army that was to my liking. I also had a friend who was just starting, and we decided that, before we bought any models, we would play with cardboard/plastic pieces that were the same size as normal bases. This would help us get a feel for the game and make sure that we were sure about the army we were picking.

It was always my dream to field an undead horde. I play as the undead in virtually every fantasy/rpg/rts game I can get my hands on. So, the natural choices were Tomb Kings and VC. I took one look at the Armybooks and knew that I would be joining the Aristocracy of the Night. Yes, Vampires are awesome. But they're so much more than looks. They can be customized to do just about anything, and your opponent never really knows what to expect. You can kit out a Vampire Lord to chew through entire infantry blocks, or you could grind someone down with 15 PD and a killer Lore (I started playing in 7th by the way).

My friend who I battled chose Skaven. I lost every cardboard game I played. But I still just couldn't turn away from the Vampires. xD

And so that's the story of how and why I started VC (and Warhammer Fantasy Battle). Oh, and don't worry. I have actual models now.

Not exactly on-topic with Jason and the Argonauts,

Oh no! He is forcing a re-roll!

But it's fine, the general's within range and so is the BSB! Hurrah!

On topic: Similar to me. Well, for starting Warhammer in general. I started out with Dark Elves because my friend had VC (I didn't really wanna copy) but now I've drifted towards them. It was inevitable. xD

I've always been a fan of Vapires and the mythos that surrounds them, Interveiw with a vampire is one of my favourate films and even the recent Van Helsing film, despite (or possibly because of) its cheesyness. I even own a replica of the coat Hugh Jackman wears throught it. I was also a big fan of The Saga of Darren Shan when i was younger.

I've been a 40k player for a long time, but it was only recently that i moved into fantasy properly. I'd bought a small wood elf army a few years back that i had built but never realy gotten round to painting, so when looking for projects to take with me to uni, i figured having almost a whole army to repair and paint meant i wouldn't be spending too much on the hobby for a while. I worked on that rather small force for most of last year just occasionaly but it took me much longer than i had anticipated because as it turned out, i find wood elves painfully boring to paint after the first five Glade Guard or so (dryads are another matter).

Having finished the wood elf army as far as i was concerned, and with 8th edition approaching i figured i wanted to look for a different fantasy army that i could collect, something that i would enjoy painting and collecting more, and Vampire Counts appealed to both my love of conversion work, and my love of vampires and the undead.

as it happened, while i was debating how to start my next army, and weighing up between VC, Tomb Kings and Warriors of Chaos, i pre-ordered the 8th edition BRB from my local Games Workshop. they were running a promotion where everyone who pre ordered the rulebook was given a ticket for a raffle to win a battalion of their choice and, lo and behold i won the raffle! By that time i had decided to go for the vamps over the other two armies, and i haven't had this much fun painting stuff in a long time. xD

That was allot more long winded that i had intened...

In a word? Zombies. There is something so deeply worrying about your nan coming back fo a bite to eat, and that bite is you. q

I started right back with the first undead book with all the cool background information, and I readily admit I was taken by the stories of the von Carsteins even more than Nagash's battles with the world. Something about the combination of predatory ferocity hidden under a mask of civility got me. Now, after far too long away from actually getting games done and mini's painted I am back - I'll see how much I can actually get done this time!

It was a natural evolution for me. My first army were Undead, I started in 3rd edition so there were no army books yet but 4th quickly followed and I went for Undead and later on added Dark Elves and Skaven.
I kind of put Undead on the back burner for a while and played more with Skaven and DE but when the Vampire Counts book came out I was immediately hooked. I have always liked vampires and the models looked amazing (for that time). An army centered on them was just what I always wanted.

I did something terrible though. I disliked the 6th edition army book for VC so much that I decided to sell my whole army. I still loved the fluff but playing them just didn't appeal to me anymore. I thought it was my last goodbye but when the new book and mini's for the 7th edition came out I felt like hitting myself over the head with an iron bar.
I learned a valuable lesson; never ever sell armies you actually love no matter what the changes, it might always change back. It's why I'm still holding on to me Dark Eldar as well.
