It depends. I have three different ones (interchangeable items) because I have one list with three VLs that I haven't been able to test yet.
1. QB, RF, Beguile, Armor of Destiny, Shield, Book of Arkhan, lvl 1 Shadows
2. QB, RF, Beguile, Nightshroud, HA/S, Talisman of Preservation, lvl 1 Vamps
3. QB, RF, Beguile, Helm of Discord, Staff of Damnation, Talisman of Endurance, lvl 1 Death

supported by a hero vamp with AoDM and dispel scroll

If I had to take just one VL, I would likely make him level 4

Current Lord

VL, QB, RF, Beguile, Hellsteed, Lance, HA, SH, NS, ToP, ToTS, lvl4 Vampire
Anyone have a good Sword of anti-heroes vamp lord build to go with this one?
As general - ward, and high save. RF is always good. Different lore and also 4lev. Shadow is nice for dealing with shooty infantry armies. Death for cavalry/flying heavy ones. FL and light or beast works very well also.

Note, that you will be having all eggs in one basket - MR and ironcurse on baby vamp or WK will not be bad option.

I struggle most against avoidance shooty armies so maybe shadow is a good call.

So... VL, QB, RF, Hellsteed, SH, SoAH, AoD, lvl4 shadow. Still have 20 points left that I can spend on him.

What do you think?

Nice. Pendulum and pit for some nasty warmachines, debuffs for cc/shooters. Get in cc asap and shooting does not hurt your bus too much. Use direwolves to hunt warmachines. As direwolves are also redirectors, you should have more DW units - some will get through and glue/kill warmachines, some will redirect.
Or give enemy warmachines other target to worry about - terrorgheist is best for that.

I love the threadomancy in this thread, with 3 major time skips you can really see how lord builds have changed over the course of our book's life, and how they haven't.

Indeed. Especially all the mundane weapon builds thanks to BotWD.

My two blenders are built:

General: QB, RF, HA, shield, hellsteed
Ogre blade, ToP, OTS, level 2 (vampires)

Level 4: QB, RF, shield, hellsteed, lance
Armour of Destiny, potion of strength, dispel scroll
Level 4(vampires)

A WK with NS and ironcurse goes between them.

My 3 cav standards, all within a BK bus, all with a Nightshroud escort. I think the Nightshroud is one of the best magic items in all of Warhammer, seriously consider it in every list because the value and protection it offers your lord is unmatched. Same with Beguile when paired with Aura of Dark Majesty, of even if it stands alone.

1. Lv.4 LoVampires (80% of the time)
Red Fury, Quickblood, Beguile
Heavy Armor, Barded Steed, Shield
Dragonhelm, Ironcurse, Ogre Blade, 4+ Ward

This one sports a 1+ AS, 2+ vs. Fire, 4+ Ward base, with 6+ vs. Warmachines. You don't have OTS, but you shouldn't be hunting things with wards anyway. This is also my favorite because the theme for my VC is undead High Elves, so the lord is still wearing his Dragon Armor (but with a hint of Blood Dragon!).

2. Lv.4 LoVampires (20% of the time)
Red Fury, Quickblood, Beguile
Heavy Armor, Barded Steed, Shield
Ogre Blade, 4+ Ward, OTS

This one is your standard 2+/4++, but you have a way to get around ward saves; namely if your meta demands character removal, or has a lot of Phoenix Guard.

3. Lv.4 LoVampires (specifically meta dependent)
Red Fury, Quickblood, Beguile
Lance, Heavy Armor, Barded Steed, Shield
Black Peripat, 4+ Ward

This gets around things like BotWD, and gives you magic superiority on the same fighter lord. No special tricks here really, but you will not be able to hurt high-toughness things in prolonged combat.
