And again, I've already explained why I don't think Doom and Darkness applies. If it was meant to apply to more than Doom and Darkness, why is it only specified for Doom and Darkness? If this is the way it has always worked, why was Doom and Darkness issued a FAQ at all? I think your camp...
I think we should lock this thread and continue in only the Sequencing thread since this is the main argument.
I don't think WS0 is overpowered. I don't believe it happens, but if it were possible, it would involve casting a spell on a specific unit, and then hoping they fail their fear test...
This is why I agree with Aramoro. Every time it's applied the same. People are saying to keep applying, or to apply 'set' effects and then modifiers. The main reason for this line of thinking is that if you do not, it feels like the effects are dispelled.
A huge problem is 'setting' and...
Plad you should read all posts before saying 'what clearly happens is this'.
It's not clear. I'm in the camp that it is applied in order, and evaluated from the bottom of the stack to the top, recalculated as needed, but always applied in the same way.
Other's are in other camps, mainly due...
Many, Many, Many things feel wrong in Warhammer.
You have the Flaming Lance from last edition and you charge high elves. They're immune, so why not just use your regular sword? Impossible. You must keep hammering away with an ineffective weapon, even if it means his death.
Or the Chaos...
No, but it's not just that one point that we're discussing. It also leads into mahy other effects, such as do Dread Knight Vampire Toads (hit by the scroll) have WS3?
@Arbo: Why do you see modifiers to stats from different sources as being applied differently? I don't understand. It is...
I think there's a third option there arbo.
We're reiterating the same things over and over. I started writing a reply to your post but I'm at work and cross referencing the rulebook is taking up too much time so I'll have to do it tonight. But a third option would be that you are not ignoring...
So. The spell is resolved when it is cast. The sequencing rule on pg. 10 is for effects that resolve at the same time. This clearly states when the spell is resolved and it's effects applied. This all states when it's applied and when it's resolved. There is nothing about "re-resolving" or...
I honestly don't think that applies Mad At' as when it applies is immediately after you cast the spell.
If you cast Miasma, it doesn't 'apply' at the start of turn, it applies immediately after you cast the spell. Nothing else is going on at that time.
But if you're under two, opposite augments/hexes/effects how do you apply them?
Eg. spell that sets WS to 1 and spell that sets WS to 10. WOuld you roll off? Person who's turn it is decides?
That solution does not seem fair to me. If you dispel my spell setting it to 10, it goes back to...
Well exactly, the phantom rule of Sequencing.
If there is no rule for it, I would assume it is applied in the order that it's cast. I don't see why you wouldn't.
If you cast a spell setting my I to 1, and I cast a spell on my turn and set it to 10, it's 10.
If you cast a spell lowering my I...
Sorry Arbo, obviously missed that.
The main reason I don't accept that Doom and Darkness is a precedent is that if it was applied in order, is that most of time it wouldn't have any effect as it would be overriden by Inspiring Presence. Thus due to people likely saying (I'm postulating) that...
Honestly after giving this a lot of thought I don't think Doom and Darkness is a precedent. I think it's an exception that needs to be spelled out in the FAQ or any Leadership spells inside the General's Inspiring Presence would have no effect.
If you have the belief that spell effects are...
Good final example Arbo.
Agreed Transmutation of Lead can reduce model's WS to 0.
Agreed that it's still in effect.
I still disagree on order of application. You are making a distinction between 'setting' a models WS (figuring out what it is) then applying 'modifiers'. Your Leadership example...
It would depend on the order of effect Nedar.
With reduction of T from Shadow combined with Night Goblin netters, the spell goes off first, then the nets take effect. It's not that one is a hex and the other is an ability, it's that one was applied before the other. I don't think the source...
I fail to see the difference here maxtoreader.
You seem to be saying:
Negative WS applied to target, Positive WS set by a source = Positive source wins.
Negative WS applied to target, Negative WS set by a source = Combine.
It does not matter where an effect comes from on whether it combines or...
Agreed with WS being 1.
There's nothing more to really explain here, I think Aramoro said it very nicely. Perhaps a summation of all arguments is in order, but I do not see this as a sequencing issue.
I do not see Weapons, Spells or any other factor 'reapplying' itself. Yes, it's always...
Looks like a broken path reference. Any time it tries to load the spammer be gone tool it can't find the path:
/home/vampirec/public_html/inc/languages/english/goodbyespammer.lang.php does not exist
This plugin automatically loads for any user with <10 posts MS has told me. So we can't...
