I thought unmodified leadership means you use the casting model's Ld score not the unit's. The target model uses their Ld right?

I think going light on magic is a good idea. You have to share your power dice with your ally in a team game and a Slann can use power dice with greater faculty than vampires. You'll help your team if you let him use most of the power dice. I played a LM/Dwarf team once and we kicked butt.
