Allcetus grunted.
"Well... great. Alright. I think I can see captain Basiclus heading this way, it seems like it's time."

He gestured to his sternguard and they all moved towards the Eagle Claws. Allectus looked at Ademus and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Are you all right brother?"

"Whot da matta, dem humies chew yea up an' spit yea out!" Kylsnik shouted mocking the survivors.
"I dinna see yea up der gittin shot da bitz!" Logzak one of the surviving Nobs shouted back. Kylsnik snarled and stomped forwards. Seizing Logzak by the tusks the Warboss dragged the smaller ork up to his face.
"I iz warboss an' I decides when I fights, got dat!" Logzak nodded breifly and Kylsnik released him. "Git da big gunz out boyz, an start shootin da walls I wantz dem pounded da scrap".

Whips cracked and Gretchin squealed in pain as Crude Ork Kannons where dragged forwards.
"Shoot em up!" Kylsnik shouted. The Ork artillery bellowed as they unleashed their payload on the walls.

Ademus nodded slightly to his brother glancing around at the nervous looking guard.

Darius frowned as the Ork's opened fire
Over the vox he spoke
"Major Jarien! Order Basilisk cannons to target Ork artillary and open fire!" he commanded
"Yes sir" came the reply of the younger officer

Seeing the gunners running around preparing the weapons under the commands of their officers Darius gave a shout
"Come on boys! Lets show them what -real- cannons can do!"
The answer of the gunnery crew was the large bang as the cities cannons fired on the Ork Kannons.

The pounding of heavy guns did nothing to ease Rhianna's nerves. The thud of return impacts against the walls and shield resounded throughout her body and rattled the supply truck she was resting on.

She looked back at the walls and saw the men leaving their positions. Rhianna didn't understand until she saw the gates; open once more. Through it, instead of the vast hordes she had expected to see, there were only corpses and ruined vehicles. Here and there a fire burned. The guard were making their way to the gate, they were leaving the city confines.

Fools! Were they suicidal? Hadn't they seen what had come?!

Rhianna was just about to try standing again when a sudden sensation startled her. Her mind buzzed loudly. It constantly changed in tone, almost like a vox trying to locate an active channel. Rhianna shook her head but that didn't seem to clear it.

The walls, she realised with an unexpected clarity of thought. The buzzing sensation came from just outside another point of the walls, and headed to...another point in the city. For a brief moment, Rhianna thought she could make out words, but as she began to concentrate the sensation vanished, leaving her numb.

Too much. Too much was happening, and too fast.

Allectus smiled at the Librarian and then walked to meet up with the Eagle Claws. He checked his bolt pistol, fully loaded. He unsheathed his crackling power sword. It glowed faintly blue with small arcs of white lightning jumping across it's surface. It was a beautiful blade, forged millenium ago, wielded by all captains of the 3rd company in his chapters history. It was truly an honor.

It's time, once again. Emperor be praised.

He met up with Basiclus and nodded slightly at him.

As the guard were gathering beside them, his sternguard loaded their bolters and bowed their heads in silent prayers. Allectus put on his "Maximus" helmet and turned towards the gates in front of them. The heavy guns firing behind them sounded only as soft thumps, time seemed to slow down. He glanced at the guardsmen beside him. Their faces resolute. They would not fail. He could sense their determination and their fear. He hoped that the first would stay in control.

The doors would soon open.

The battle continued to rage as Aun'sa gathered his soldiers for a second assault into the ork lines. It was literally an artillery duel now between the orks and humans as the orks brought in a line of there own crude artillery. "Focus on the artillery, most of the infantry will be distracted by the humans counterassault!" He told the gathered squads.

"But first, we will ally with these imperials for the Greater Good." Aun'si said, beckoning for Khazkaraz the demiurg engineer.
"I have a comlink ready and the humans should hear you on any of there channels." Khazkaraz replied.
Aun'shi nodded his approval, before turning the comlink in his armor on and speaking into it:

"This is Commander ShadowSoldier of the Tau Empire. I see you are having trouble with orks, well my strike team is ready and we are in range of the ork guns. If any Imperials are hearing this relay this to your commanders and tell them that I am standing by with help if they want it."

He ordered them to get there weapons ready, but wait for a reply from there possible allies.

Lenk looked at the glowing icons as the infantry made ready. Basiclus's forces had managed to sneak out one of the smaller gates, but the vast majority of the infantry stood ready to move out of the main gate. Allectus and Amadeus were leading the men personally with their terminator squads, something which had no doubt boosted the morale of the men.

"The numbers are looking good," Bethnar said next to him, "the first wave has been annihilated. There is a secondary wave moving up supported by their crude artillery. Though this wave is instead focused on one half of the cities walls, directed towards the Alpha gate. It seems they decided they were stretching their forces too thin."
"You say that as if an Ork can think," Lenk replied dryly.
"Whatever we think of the greenskins Milord, there is definitely planning and thought here." Lenk grunted in response before pointing to a flashing alarm on the shield array,
"Has that been rectified yet?"
"Yes. One of the minor relays blew, we have rerouted to the surrounding emitters and they have compensated. We estimate one hour cycle until the relay is repaired."
"Make sure it is. That point is directly over Alpha Gate. Has their artillery caused any damage?"
"Again minor. The wall and shields means most of their shots are missing their marks, plus they do not have our targeting capabilities." Lenk seem satisfied with the report before looking at his advisor in the eye.
"Yes or no?" Bethnar paused for a scant second before replying,
"The first wave is destroyed, the second has already suffered over twenty-five percent casualties. I say yes. Send out the infantry, and direct the artillery to target the rear of their line. They will have no where to run been annihilated by our forces."
Lenk had already had those thoughts, but to have them so well put bolstered his resolve.
"Issue the orders."

**********************************

"Sir, orders received from command." Reading the data slate Vosklar slammed it back down in anger.
"What is he playing at holding the majority of the armoured in reserve?" he said, "If we are trying to totally destroy the green bastards most of us should be out there." The young comms private shook his head in disbelief,
"It just states for the seventh and eighth to support the infantry advance and escort their carriers sir." The seventh and eighth were the Demolisher and Hellhound units respectively, both close support battle tanks. Leaning back in his chair Vosklar could see where Lenk was driving towards. He obviously though the cities wall batteries were more than enough long range weaponry, which is why the remaining battle tanks were being held back.
"Get Raoin on the vox. No doubt the lucky bastard will be jumping for joy at this."

****************************************

"It appears we are not fighting alone." Bethnar suddenly appeared, causing Lenk to jump. The old man moved so quietly sometimes, and ever since his encounter with Snake the Lord had a reason to be jumpy. taking the proffered data slate Lenk scanned its contents, eyebrow raising in surprise.
"Genuine?"
"It seems to be. We have little in the database, but what we do have verifies the carrier wave." It seemed almost too good to be true. Powerful reinforcements in the perfect position to disrupt the enemies artillery, which would no doubt secure their victory. His suspicious nature was almost tempted to say no straight away, but the more he thought about, the more he realised he had nothing to loose. By accepting the aid all he was doing was strengthening the imperials position.
"Send them out thanks, and our acceptance. Ask them to target the artillery and we will do the rest."

"Proceed to take out the artillery, we will handle the rest," the imperials had replied.
"Attacking now," Aun'sa replied.
"Alright you heard him now let us do our part for this battle and for the Greater Good!" Aun'sa bellowed.
"For the Greater Good and the Tau Empire!" They cheered.
"Hit the artillery from a distance, decimate it with our superior firepower, while our kroot allies grapple with the guards." Aun'sa ordered.

They silently crept through the jungle in sight of the ork artillery. They were lightly guarded with only gretchin and the weak orks guarding them. The artillery were far below Tau technology, the ork concept resembled ancient black powder artillery and cannons. However, they seemed deadly none the less.

The two demiurg captains with there plasma cannons took positions on the flanks, targeting the larger cannons and preparing to fire on there commander's order. "Now!" Aun'sa hissed.

For five full minutes they unleashed pure hell on the ork artillery, blasting apart the crude metal machines and destroying the crews. However, finally the guard orks figured out were it was coming from and began to return fire. However, they were met with a horde of kroot who utterly slaughtered them in close combat with there superior weapons.

The orks began to fall back and try to relocate there artillery with the fight knocked out of them for a while. However, Aun'sa would not have them retreat he burst from his hiding space and into the air on his jump pack and sent a barrage from his burst cannon.

In seconds a lobba gun was nothing but a pile of metal. And the ork crew were nothing but bits and organs. The massacre continued with the orks falling back as the kroot and the others pushed forward.

"Boss?"

Snake looked in astonishment at the women who walked out of the treeline. She was statuesque, powerfully built yet she had not lost any of the femininity that female soldiers sometimes did. Her long dark hair was platted at the back, whilst she wore a camo suit similar to his own. In one hand she held a heavily modified version of the Exitus Rifle. Cut short a feeding drum had been attached underneath enabling it rapid fire, yet for a such a bulky weapon she handled it a easily as he would a pistol.

"What are you doing?" Snake said, standing back up. It seemed almost dreamlike to see her here, to see the woman who had mentored him through the three temples.

The Boss
The first of the experiments. For their own reasons they had decided a woman would be easier for their first try. They had been right. The woman they created was good, almost too good. She had mastered everything they could teach her, every combat technique, each weapon. She became better than assassins that had been killing for hundreds of years. But they had wanted more. They had thought if such a woman could be made, then any man made would be superior.
So Snake was born. And who better to train him that the Boss?

"Go home Snake." The Bosses eyes never wavered as she slowly holstered her gun. "That shot was a warning. The next time I see you, I will kill you."
"I don't understand," Snake said bewildered. He and the Boss had been closer most people would ever know. They were not lovers or anything so crass. But they had trained together, lived together, bleed and breathed together for over fifteen years. The woman before him had molded him into the man he was today.
"What are you doing?"
"I no longer work for the Inquisition Jack. I no longer fight for the Imperium. I am now a loyal follower of the true gods. The Chaos gods." Snake shook his head in disbelief,
"It can't be, you've got to be joking." It didn't seem possible, he knew her yet the way she looked at him dispelled any doubts. With his good arm he quickly drew his pistol, pointing it at her face.
"Can you actually do it Jack?" she asked, slowly walking towards him, eyes locked on his. Before he could respond she shifted under his raised arm, delivering an elbow to his solar plexus. Hitting the ground Snake quickly rolled back onto his knees, pistol ready. It was only when he raised his hand he realised in that one movement she had removed the barrel and clip of the pistol, rendering it useless.
Rising to his feet Snake lashed out with a swift blow but it was useless. The woman who had trained him knew him better than any other, and she easily blocked the attack, Grabbing hold of the arm she twisted forward presenting Snake's back to her. Stepping behind him she put him in a choke hold whilst her free arm pressed down on his gunshot wound.
"Why?" he gasped as his breath was choked out of him.
"For the same reason why everyone else is on this hellhole," she said, "It's time our kind stopped living in the shadow Jack." As her arm squeezed tighter Snake's vision began to fade. Just before he blacked out he heard the Boss's voice once more,
"I'm warning you. Go home. Forget what you saw here or next time will be the last time we meet."

Kylsnik bellowed as his artillery were blowen to scrap,
"Boss! Boss!! Ders Greyskins 'ere an dey just shot da Big Guns da bits," shouted one of the Runtherds as he came running up, a terrified expression on his face. Kylsnik thrust his forehead into the Runtherds face, knocking the smaller ork on his back. "Well, aint ya da master ov da obviouse," he growled. Turning to his bodyguards he grinned,
"Come on ladz, letz fry us some fishfaces, WAAAAAAAGH!" he bellowed. Raising his choppa the Warlord charged towards the small group of Kroot, and humans who were firing on the Orks from the jungle.

The Eagle Claws advanced across the corpse-choked ground in the ground-eating stride that only an astartes could maintain. Heeding of the ork fire that was taken at them they moved quickly, hunching down to reduce silhouettes.

They advanced by fire and movement, one squad supporting the other as soon as they came into bolter range. Dozens of bolters and storm bolters fired into he landing ork mobs that were approaching them, the first dozen were dropped easily as the greenskins attacked in force.

The hordes of muscled greenskin barbarians howled and clashed weapons fire at the Eagle claws who now fell back with well- disciplined movement, sending more fire from their squads into the Orks who begun to break up and move after the astartes.

The orks by contrast send a hailstorm of fire back into the astartes, but for all their volume they managed to fell only two astartes, the rest missing or deflected by the Eagle Claw’s armor. However more of them war moving into close range.

But for all the Eagle Claws firepower and the prowess of their individual soldiers Basiclus could see that they were wrong to attack so openly, the orks would be quick to overwhelm them. He glanced ahead and looked to the sky.

From the sky appeared blazing contrails, these were the drop pods of the second company. Called in from orbit when Basiclus first began the advance out of the city, to crush the orks between two attacks.

Missiles streaked out as Basiclus and his marine’s switched tactics from repulsing the ork horde to clear out the battlefield of their brothers. The first armored capsule hit the ground and more Eagle Claws poured out, quickly pushing on to press more fire into the orks.

Aun'sa and his troops continued to blast away at the orks. But, more and more were starting to come at the sight of new stunties. One alarming sight was a massive ork surrounded by a huge bodyguard of orks.

"I have visual on the leader, I am moving into attack," his comlink buzzed in, it was from one of the kroot leaders.
Aun'sa levelled his burst cannon bellow to give the kroot support, but as soon as he got sight of the melee below, over half of his kroot were dead. Including one of the leaders, torn apart by the hulking ork warboss. "FALL BACK! Khazakalz, lay down covering fire against those nobz!" Aun'sa shouted into the comlink.

The kroot fell back, emptying barrage after barrage into the hordes of orks. Khazakalz jumped out of his cover and blasted away with his plasma cannon at the orks. Aun'sa swooped in low blasting away, however the ork warboss jumped up and got hold of one of his legs. Before he had a chance to blast the ork warlord into a thousand pieces, he was brought down to the ground with a thud.

A dozen of the largest orks he had ever seen were already on him, beating and bashing him with choppas and axes. "Get off me you savages!" Aun'sa bellowed, blowing one in half with a well placed burst cannon barrage.

However, he was beat down by the warboss, the choppa rising and falling on his head. However, his armor protected him from most of the impact, although he was severely bruised and a concussion was possible. The beat down continued with Aun'sa desperately trying to fight off the green hordes.

Allectus charged out from the gates. His sternguard running beside him. The ground was littered with dead orks and the artillery sounding behind them, was sure to claim even more ork lives. As they closed in with the treeline they took up positions and opened fire, claiming scores of orks with well placed bolter rounds. The guard took up positions beside them lining up with their lasguns. The combined effect of the massive lasfire and bolterfire decimated the orks charging out from the treeline against them.

"There's no end to the green tide."
It was Brother Hoeberns voice through the vox.
Brother Mathias laughter cut in.
"Then you can't miss can you? Despite your horrible aim! First to kill 60 orks win!"

Allectus grunted and shook his head.

The orks were still coming strong, no sign of lack of courage in their ranks. It meant that they had to kill their leader. Allectus hailed his ship in orbit.

"I want squad "Helix" deployed immediately, home in on my signal."
"Yes captain."

A moment passed and suddenly a blue light could be seen in front of the sternguard.

"Cease fire, squad Helix is deploying."

From nothingness the terminators of squad Helix appeared. Immediately they opened fire. Their stormbolters and assaultcannon spitting out death on the greenskins. But there were now so many orks that the terminators soon got engaged in close combat. Allectus sprung from his place amongst the sternguard to help his brothers caught in the meele, his power sword ready.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Moirdivan 13th fourth platoon stood ready at the gates, their green uniforms now drenched in sweat. They had been ordered to storm out of the city to disrupt the ork lines while the tanks moved in. With them was also third and second platoon. Asger swallowed down hard. The knot in his throat just wouldn't go away. He checked his lasgun, fully loaded. Beside him his mates were fixing their bayonets. He did the same.

He stared at the gates and closed his eyes. He could barely hear Sergeant Gerogg shouting orders. He could suddenly feel his mates moving and was pushed forward, he shuffled and gained his balance, gaining speed, he held his lasgun pointed downwards. Some unlucky ones did not, and ended up stabbing their comrades in the back when someone fell, stopped or stabbing themselves. The crowd was tight, Asger ran shoulder to shoulder with the men beside him. A wrong footing and he would surely be trampled to death, or get a bayonet in his back.

They took up positions and opened up, lasguns and grenade launchers sending death in to the ork horde. The orks had seen them coming and were now rushing towards them.

Soon the thing that Asger had dreaded most would come.

Close combat.

Damek heard the voice of a nearby vox-opperator
"Sir! New Orders!" he called
Damek strode over and bent down to listen to what the operator had to say, has the other man finished he nodded.
Turning on his own personal vox he issued orders to his whole division
"Men! Target all artillary at the rear ranks of the Ork Advance! Fire at once!" he snapped angrily.
A stream of replies came of the common vox channel as the guns changed their projectory slightly and for a moment the walls where almost silent, then there was a series of explosions as the imperial cannons fired.
Damek then clicked to another channel on his vox
"All infantry stand ready to fire over the wall if any ork comes in weapons range!"
______________________________________________________________________________

Ademus stood at the front of the infantry advance, with staff in hand he grasped at the warp drawing in the power he would need for a psychic attack on the Orkish horde.

With a roar the Demolisher The Mantis bounced over a rut in the ground. The armoured division had been split as per normal deployment with the infantry, each tank assigned to support a platoon.
In this role they were not the advancing artillery force, but a heavy support designed to take out approaching threats to the infantry unit and if necessary shield them. It was a somewhat unorthodox approach for tank, but one that served well in these kinds of conflicts.
"Tin cans approaching at minus fifteen degrees, twenty degrees elevation." Recognizing the slang for the Ork's versions of Dreadnoughts the gunner swung the turret around.
"Locked on target," he confirmed as the auto-targeters took over. Once a target had been entered they would stay centered, no matter how much the tank moved or jolted it would stay locked on. Slamming in the large demolisher rounds which gave the tank its name the loader blessed it in the name of the Emperor.
"Loaded."
"Ease." With a roar the main cannon fired. A glare filled the targeting reticule as the shell impacted, the shockwave leveling the surrounding Orks.
"Target neutralised."

***********************************

"It appears to be going well Milord," Bethnar commented as they surveyed the field data, "Casualties are within acceptable tolerances and our line is making slow but steady headway."
The advisor was right, yet it seemed almost too easy and that worried Lenk. So far there had been no serious threat to the cities defenses. For all the seemingly clever tactics of the Ork's it seemed they just did not have the firepower to break the city walls.
"How many troops have we deployed in total outside of the city?" Lenk asked.
"Approximately fifty-seven percent of the infantry. Thirty-five percent of the armoured. All of the Astartes have deployed as well as the few reinforcements that have just arrived."
The battleline was strong, with a good line of retreat. The wall batteries were still performing yet Lenk could not shake this feeling that something was not quite right.....

"Cursed savages!" Aun'sa shouted, his armor was breaking and he was alread tiring. "KHAZAK-A-ZHAKUL!" A voice bellowed. Five orks were blown out of existence as the Demiurg captain charged forward showering the orks with grenades and cutting them down with his power axe.

Aun'sa saw a chance and leaped forward, showering the momentarily distracted orks with burst cannon fire. Ork after ork fell to the barrage, however Aun'sa had made a grave mistake in ignoring the warboss. Within a minute the ork was ontop of his back, bashing with his bare hands. His armor began to crumble and inside his helmet red lights flashed. stressing that any minute the armor would be powerless and broken down.

The Demiurg, Khazkaraz was surrounded and bruised. "I am ejecting brother. I shall see you on the other side!" Aun'sa whispered into the comlink. He was defeated and as his defenses were continually battered he began the self destruct sequence and his ejection.

The suit opened and shot Aun'sa out, far above the ork hordes and the surrounded Khazkaraz. As he plumetted back to the planet, the last thing he saw was Khazkaraz being overwhelmed. He was dead...

Aun'sa landed with a thud, far away from the battle, however he was still in danger. All that he had left was a single plasma pistol and his weak armor. He unhooked himself from the control chair and stood. His legs were shaky and he had probably spranged the right one. However, his hatred fueled him.

They had killed his troops and one of his closest friends was dead. He raised the pistol and began to walk towards the horde of orks, the large ones that had confronted him earlier, the ones that had killed Khazkaraz, several of them were dead, killed by the suit's detonation. He hoped the boss was not, he would die at his hands or kill him.

He squeezed the trigger and got there attention, walking forward, heedless of the fire and bullets hitting all around him. He continued to walk to death and destiny...

‘’It is good to see you at this time brother!’’ rumbled the voice of chaplain Britannicus who greeted his captain over vox-link. ‘’You could have not come at a better time’’ chuckled the captain.

‘’Now we have a large amount of filth left to destroy, this lot are more stubborn then orks usually are they seem to be begging for death, let’s oblige them brother-chaplain’’ Basiclus said.

A short harsh bark of laughter filtered through the vox. ‘’Of course, Remember brother, to kill is to pray and I intend to raise a might chorus to the emperor and Primarch today’’ he cut the link short and dove into battle.

Over a hundred astartes, on the assault, fully cooperating with each other in a carefully drilled combined-arms assault was at the same time both beautiful and destructive, orks being orks had not the capacity to comprehend the former but certainly comprehended the latter.

Ademus stood beside his terminators, firing his bolt pistol slowly at the ranks of incoming orks
"Fire!" he called out causing a large number of imperial guards to discharge their weapons at the Xeno's, the Orks where easily cut down before they came into close combat range.
This is wrong he thought worryingly, this Ork attack definitely lacked the force he had seen in other enounters.
Switching his Vox to a private channel he had used earlier with Allectus he spoke with the captain
"Does any of this seem...strange...to you?" he asked

____________________________________________________________________

Darius shook his head as he stared at the Ork forces, beside him was the Commissar
"Whats going on here Kant? I'd say about half the infantry has been emptied from the city...this isn't the way I would of fought it" he muttered
Kant glanced at the Colonel with a frown
"Its not our place..." he murmered
With a sigh the Colonel looked around
"I guess..." he cut off as a volley was released from the cannons
"Not" finished the officer.
Waving his hand towards the battlefield he muttered
"I can't even attack the frontal advance due to so many friendly's being on the field"
Kant chuckled suddenly looking amused
"You're just annoyed because your not in command!"
With a glare Darius crossed his arms
"I am -not- annoyed, I just think it would of been better to break them against the city walls and use the armoured division supported by infantry to crush the remains thats all...with a nice steady bombardment from us!"
"Maybe we should just let the orbiting Imperial ships bombard the Orks" replied the Commissar drily
With a shrug the Colonel looked turned back to the battle
"Whatever gets me of this rock quickest"

Allectus dodged past a clumsy choppa cut and brought his sword upwards, cutting of the arm of the attacking ork. The xeno seemed bewildered and soon caught Allectus sword in the belly. Squad Helix were crushing their enemies in close combat, and with the addition of Captain Allectus, they were slowly making their way through the ork horde.

Seeing the space marine captain charge, most of the guard had done the same thing, fuelled by the sight of the super human soldiers at their front, they ran headlong into the melee with their bayonets.

Allectus disarmed another ork, and brought his sword around in a wide arc, chopping the head of the greenskin. Thick black blood splattered all over his red and white armour. He looked over his shoulder at the terminators. No choppa could get through their tactical dreadnought armour.

Brother-Sergeant Tuminus was swarmed by a dozen orks, almost beaten in to the ground before his massive powerfist swept them aside. Suddenly the sergeant was cut in half by something massive behind him. A dry harsh laughter filled the air.

"See boyz, me says 'ese umie ain't nuffing, just chop em up!"

A large ork with armed with a massive powerclaw made his way through the smaller orks, gutting anything that got close to him, friend or foe.

Brother Gallos of Squad Helix moved in to intercept but before his power fist could smash the ork aside he was caught in a vice grip and cut in half. Allectus bellowed in rage, two of his battle brothers had fallen, he had to finish this. He parried a clumsy choppa and brought his bolt pistol to the orks face and pulled the trigger. The orks head vanished and he pushed the dead body aside, gutting another ork as he did so. He moved towards what seemed to be the leader, slicing and dicing his way. He must have killed another 5 orks before he got close to the large one.

The savage xeno smirked and tried to trip Allectus by kicking a dead ork at his feet. Allectus jumped over the body and brought his bolt pistol up towards the ork and fired. The ork bellowed in pain and charged headlong towards the marine. It's large powerclaw spitting out black smoke as he swung it at Allectus.

The marine ducked and stabbed with his power sword at the orks unguarded belly. Somehow the greenskin had anticipated this and his ironclad boot kicked up and caught Allectus in the arm, deflecting his sword so it just nicked the ork. Allectus spun around and had just enough time to avoid a another chop from the powerclaw. The orks crude pistol fired as the marine dodged to the left and hit allectus in the shoulder. The fine armour deflecting the shot as Allectus countered by bringing his sword around towards the orks head.

The greenskin brought his powerclaw up to parry the blow, Allectus saw this and smiled as the finely crafted power sword cut its way through the powerclaw in to the face of the ork. The massive body limped and fell to the ground.

The remaining terminators moved in to mop up the remaining orks, as Allectus stepped back. Ademus voice cut in through the vox.
"Does any of this seem...strange...to you?" he asked.
"Well, frankly, it seems a little strange, I have only seen the smaller orks, and the occasional bigger one. But it seems strange that they would engage us in this manner. But still brother, these are only orks." He chuckled.

Glanzing at the guard fighting beside them he could see that they too were gaining ground, slowly pushing the orks back.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Get ready!" Segreat Gerogg bellowed, starting his chainsword. "Here they come!"

The orks smashed in to the guard, the first greenskins momentum crushing the men in the front ranks. Soon the cries of pain started as the guard fell under the onslaught of the orks. Asger held his breath as he saw a ork chop a guardsman in half. His attention was drawn towards the men in front of him, soon he would have to use his bayonet. Sergeant Gerogg ducked a sweep from a choppa and sawed the greenskin in half, his laspistol shooting another in the face as he ran towards the sergeant.

Asger emptied his lasgun at close range claiming another three orks before a greenskin ran at him. He waited for the greenskin to swing first, just as he had learned. The orks impatience became his doom as the choppa was easily parried by Asger. He thrust his bayonet forward and caught the ork in the throat.

The greenskin fell to the ground gurgling in rage, it would not get up again. Another ork took a swing at him, he ducked and the blow decapitated the man behind Asger. This time he twisted his lasgun upwards, gutting the ork and spilling his entrails on the ground. But to his horror the ork gripped his lasgun as it toppled over. The xeno smirking as he took the lasgun with him. He was unarmed. Asger looked up, another ork jumping over his fallen comrade to finish Asger of.

He closed his eyes.

Aun'sa stumbled forward to the horde of orks, shooting them down one by one with his plasma pistol. Three of the orks broke off from the group and charged forward choppas raised.

Aun'sa killed the first one with a headshot, but the other two were already on top of him. He ducked the first blow bashed the ork in the head with his pistol before spinning around and shooting the other at point blank range. The ork fell back headless, he had little time to celebrate as the remaining ork was already on him again.

Aun'sa ducked one of the blows, however he caught the end of the orks fist at the side of his head. He fell down in pain, however he wasn't sensless and he was able to get a single shot off before the ork finished him. His opponent was finished, a gaping hole in its stomache which spilt out its vile entrails.

Aun'sa raised expecting the whole horde of orks attacking him, however he only saw the furious battle before him. Dozens of space marines cut through the ork lines, killing the green monsters. Aun'sa sat up, aiming his plasma pistol at one of the deformed heads.

He sat, helping the space marines from afar by blasting away at the orks with his pistol.

With a groan Snake came to. His head pounded and as he sat up paint shot through his shoulder. A second later the memory of what just happened came back to him, and he quickly looked around. He was still in the clearing, obviously where the Boss had left him. As far as he could see he was alone, birds sang in the trees and it was as if it had never happened. But he knew it had.
"Snake?!" The Doc's voice suddenly cut through, causing Snake to groan as pain shot through hit head again. "We thought you were never going to wake up. Are you ok?"
"I've been better," he replied slowly standing up. His neck was bruised and his shoulder hurt like hell but other than
that he seemed fine.
"We saw what happened. We saw the Boss....." the Doc's voice trailed off.
"I can't believe it," Snake said, "it can't be, not the Boss. I learned everything off her, she made me who I am. She was the last person I expected...."
"Snake," the Inquisitors voice cut in, unexpectedly soft, "you know as well as I it can happen to anyone. Even the strongest of us can fall."
"But why? I don't understand-"
"You can't. No one but those who turn can understand what happens in their troubled minds. I know this has come as a shock Snake, but you still have a mission to complete. You need to get back to the city as soon as possible."
"You expect me to just forget about? To carry on as if nothing happened?! That was the Boss!"
"Hold it together Snake!" the Inquisitor snapped, his harsh tone returning, "If someone else finds this weapon before we do, all hell will be unleashed. Do you think the women who taught you everything would want that?" There was a pause before Snake replied,
"No. But her warning, she's out there, looking for the weapon. She knows its here."
"Snake, the women you know is dead. The person who just attacked you is not the Boss, but another traitor. If you meet her again.........you know your duty." There was a click as Inquisitor signed off leaving Snake to his thoughts.
As much as he was hurt and troubled he knew he had a duty to do. Fifteen minutes later he was ready to move out, his shoulder cleaned and stitched together, and his pistol put back together. Starting to move back through the undergrowth suddenly his Solid Eye blipped a warning as it registered an energy spike, followed but what sounded by a massive engine powering up. The data showed no imperial outposts in that direction meaning it could probably be only one thing, Orks. From the sounds of it, it was something big.
Moving through the forest at a fast rate Snake headed in the noise's direction, If the greenskins were had some secret to help attack the city he would prefer to know about beforehand, rather than when it was bearing down on him. But he wasn't prepared for what met his eyes.
As the jingle petered out it dropped abruptly into a deep crevice. Steep walls encased both sides whilst at one end a shallow incline provided an entrance heading in the direction of the city. But it what was in the crevice what was the worry.
"Inquisitor, we have a problem."
"What is it Snake?"
"I've located a Gargant. It looks like its powered up and ready to go. The cities defenses aren't strong enough to stop this thing."
"You've got to take it out before it gets to the city. We can't afford for the Ork's to breach the walls and risk looking the weapon data. Infiltrate the Gargant and find its power core. Rex will advise what to do when you get there."
"Got it." Holstering his weapon Snake began to work his way down the hill.

Kylsnik covered his eyes with one massive arm as the Battlesuit exploded, enveloping Several Orks who hadn’t been fast enough to get clear. The backwash of heat roared over him, but it was not enough to seriously hurt him. Slightly steaming Kylsnik growled slightly, as he turned to see a scattered group of Orks fleeing towards him. Behind them the Imperial forces were advancing mercilessly cutting down any that were too slow. A slow grin crossed his face exposing his massive fangs.
“Hurhur... dis iz gonna be a bad day fer dem humies,”he sniggered.

Flitting through the close trees a small bird landed on a green branch and started preening itself. Seconds later a massive hand smashed into it as the Ork crushed it, before flicking the mess of himself. Looking round he moved from foot to foot, eager to join the dray. The thousands of other Orks crouched around him seemed as excited as he was. Hidden by the jungle in a crude crescent formation they waited for the signal to attack. Many where at the breaking point as they were forced to sit and watch as the Moirdivan Orks engaged the humans but not allowed to attack. “Iron’ead shure iz pressin ‘is luck on dis un,” Nazgit thought as he watched the fighting with a battered pair of binoculars from the top of the Gargant, a huge cigar in his mouth.
"Nazgit yea zoggin Mek!” The Ork Mek jumped at Kylsniks voice. Grabbing up the crude radio on his belt, Nazgit pushed the talking button
“Yer boss?” he asked sheepishly.
“Da fight iz gittin good, an’ da Beakies iz right where I wantz dem. Yea knowz whot to do?” Nazgit nodded to himself,
“Yer boss” he replied. Pulling up the speaking tube he bellowed into it,
“Git dis fing movin, we’ze got humies da smash!” With a dull groaning sound the Ork Titan began to move forwards, each step shaking the ground as it begain to advance on the city. Taking one final puff on his cigar Nazgit flicked it away before climbing back into the Gargant.

As the Imperials advanced suddenly a loud roar filled the air once more. From out of the trees a new wave of Orks ran, but this was more that just the remnants of a broken force. Thousands upon thousands of the spilled forth, too many of the wall batteries to take out. Surging forward the enveloped the outnumbered Astartes and guard. Looking back they realised in horror that their line of retreat had been cut off. The real battle had just begun.

Red Moon watched closely as the greenskins pushed forward like a great wave. They crashed into the ongoing melee, pressing in from all directions so that as many of them as possible would get to fight.

This was it. She wouldn't get another chance. Red Moon drew her knives and burst forth from the trees, activating her holo-suit as she did so. Her mask's eye glowed brightly, and her image scrambled and shattered, leaving Orks dazed and confused as she ran past them. In four bounding strides she had reached the humans. She leapt, using her momentum to crash into an Ork about to lash out at the nearest human. It stumbled to the ground, minus it's head.

Not stopping for a moment, she whirled, catching the throat of the nearest Ork then darted forwards to disembowel another before they reconciled her presence. More greenskins roared and charged forward blindly. Red Moon backflipped and kicked one of the Orks away, then three quick strokes killed two more. Neatly ducking under a chopper she leapt past her assailant and struck from behind. The harlequin danced back to the humans, careful not to let herself move too far away lest she be surrounded.

She had to fight harder. Unless they could cut a path back to the city walls they would lose to sheer numbers, despite the marines and herself. The Orks wouldn't even need the might that had yet to present itself.

Aun'sa stumbled back, shocked at what had happened. The humans and astartes were all cut off from the city in mere seconds as thousands of ork reinforcements attacked. The orks had even spotted him and were coming towards him, a horde of them.

He fired at them with his plasma pistol, killing one, but he could not kill them all. He started to fall back to the jungle, he turned and bolted. However, to his amazement the orks exploded. He turned around to see there bodies, burnt and blown apart.

He turned to the jungle, his troops had returned. A group of kroot and the others were all prepared and ready for battle. "We thought you were dead," Geldaz one of the humans under his command said.
"You were mistaken then, I shall still fight, with or without my battlesuit," Aun'sa replied.
"Let's finish this then," Angrad bellowed, charging for the ork hordes, his kroot warriors behind him.

The battle had literally just begun...

Ademus cursed as the Orks charged, thier numbers swelling
"Death to the Xeno's!" shouted the Librarian as he fired his Bolt Pistol till his ammo was depleted.
His call was repeated by a number of Guards who fired at their foes.
But the numbers of the Xenos where to great
"Damn it...we need a more compact elite force" he muttered
Seeing captain Allectus battling the Orks in close combat he raised his gun and gestured at the marine
"Terminators! To our Astartes brothers!" he yelled.
Running forward he unsheathed his power sword, which was in thes shape of a gladius, and slashed quickly at the Orks, his terminators reinforcing him as they slaughtered the greenskins with their powerclaws.
Reaching the Captain he grinned his usual reserved appearance seemingly gone.
"This is the life!" roared the Librarian as he decapitated another Ork to the general laughter of his astartes brethern.

As four Orks charged the Marine screaming their bloodthirst
"I think not" he murmered.
Throwing out his hand the Librarian blasted the orks with warp lightning, killing them instantly.

Darius let out a scream of curses at the new development in the battle
"Damn them! Curse their bloody hides!"
"What should we do sir?" asked Jarien
"Theres not much more we can do...keep up current orders!"
Switching to his personal vox he moved the the officer channel
"General Vosklar! This is Darius! What the bloody hell is going on out their" hissed the Colonel
He was feeling angry, the city and people where too new for him and the cities communication was pathetic.
