Aki's work

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Man, that setup is sexy! Also, that Dragon and Terrorgheist are flipping awesome man, how did you do the glossy on the wings? Looks incredible...

Thanks guys!
The wings are super simple! Just paint them he standard red/orange muscle tissue you see all over, then a liberal use of GWs Blood for the Blood God: new technical paint. It's perfect gore lacquer. It's amazing and super simple

Today i've got a 1,000 point 'speed-hammer' tournament. 1k points, 1 hour games, GO FAST!

Taking Malorian's suggestions and trying out my goblin hero on cave squig. In this case i think he'll have a spear and enchanted shield for 3+ armor, 6 (total with squig) str 5 attacks on the charge, 3 wounds. Also since he's random movement: no charge reaction! Figured i'd start painting this guy up - got some base colors and started shading but a long way to go. Good enough for tonight though

Got these badboys for 40% off on miniatureMarket. Going to be getting some games in on the youtube channel for Triumph & Treachery.

Also plan to run a campaign of Sigmar's Blood on the channel as well. Should be good times!

The colors in your plog make me want to be a better painter, aki. I realise my reliance on washes to shade reduces the saturation in my models, and I really want to get past this. Inspiring stuff!

Thanks a lot! I still struggle with that very thing too - it's about building back up after washing but keeping enough depth. Really hoping to find a class or someone to tutor me. Good luck!

Working on felbats tonight! The goal is to make all my winged creatures share the ZD & TG blood-wing theme. If this turns out well, i'll be converting vargheists and varghulfs next

and work continues on the Cauldron of Blood now that i've made my choice to stay with Dark Elves instead of jumping quickly over to Dwarfs for next army. Dwarfs look AMAZING but didn't gain enough play-style changes for me. Since i already have a one/few dimensional army (VC) and a random army (O&G), i want one that has options-a-plenty to challenge me to get better at the game.

... I'm also pretty sure the guy holding up the bowl is the creator from prometheus ... who in this picture is obviously upset because he has a K-cup, but no Keurig with which to make coffee.

Nice Painting ! your zombie dragon rocks.
Also want to give you big cred for your battle reports :)
Got so inspired I started collecting orcs and goblins too.

Work on a new more DE components including sorc and shades. Trying something funky with shades - pics later if it looks ok and I don't ditch the idea

I'm so excited to be able to flee a charge - you have no idea. Sure i have O&G but nearly everything I tend to run is ITP or random movement :-D

Dark Elves look so tasty!

Can't wait to see your rendition of a Blood Wrack Shrine and Medusa. :)

I have the medusa but should I paint it up? From what I'm seeing she's crap. Cheap but not cheap enough for chaff. The shrine is kinda be same way - am I wrong?

Yes. You are wrong about the Shrine. The Medusa has none of the disadvantages like Frenzy or poor leadership when she is Shrine mounted. The Shrine in a unit of Executioners is awesome. It allows you to make a horde formation with a lot less models. The Shrine is not a character and cannot be challenged. In my humble opinion it really boost the destructive power of attached units. Consider placing just 10 Sisters of Slaughter with a shrine and watch them mince opposing units with ranks and shields.

After spending too much time playing Diablo 3 today, I answered the cries of many dark elves sitting on my painting table. Threw some more paint on details for my Sorceress and pushed along the cloaks, tabards, base-coats on armor/weapons for the "Har Ganeth" themed shades (We're so badass we dont need dark cloaks). Think that'll be a good look with executioners.

Then did some blood effects, drybrushed some metal, and started working on the rims of the cauldron. I still cannot get a look that I like for the witches that are on the cauldron - so work continues there off camera

Oh, I almost forgot. One of my friends had his O&G stolen from his car ... terrible freaking luck. Well, that meant he's just done with O&G because he doesn't have it in him to start all over. So he sold me what wasn't in his car at the time for a SONG

I have way more than I can use here - like do I really need ~60 savages? Plus, i'm NOT painting them up to the standard of my others ... jesus i'd go insane and kill everyone before that happened. So not sure what i'll do with them. On the 'more usable' side, I got 2 goblin pumpwagons (SCORE), 2 manglers, a bunch of black orcs, a rock lobba, and about 10 million goblins. Some of them being really cool unique models i've never seen.

Likely whoever stole his O&G just threw them away, but if you see someone OTHER THAN ME playing/selling troll models like the ones below - let me know, because they need an ass whoopin'.

Great work Luke! Sorry about your friend's army but you scored some sweet models! :)

Never put your models in GW cases. Use their foam and use copy paper boxes to transport. Works good and nobody ever breaks into a car to steal copy paper. ;) I sometimes use plastic bends from Walmart. Try to get the clear kind so it is easy to see what is inside. The thieves wanted guns...not Orcs.
