Your conversions are top notch and it gives a lot of character to the army (Skellies and ghouls especially). Unfortunately, that's a whole lot of models to paint :Vampire1:

Nice looking army - good to see the old plastic skellies rising again.

I personally think that your first unit of Fell Bats (the Furies on the scenic bases) look large and impressive enough to be used as Varghiests.

As you are using actual Fell Bats for the other unit, they won't get mixed up or confuse your foes.

Using the Gargoyles as Vargheists was my first thought too, since I have quite a lot of them (10 Gargoyles and 5 'real' Fell Bats, that's more than I need!). But when I learned they were 'vampiric', I couldn't find a fluff justification for that at the moment. I haven't really thought about that still, but I will most likely try a few time at least. If I like how the unit play, I might find something to fit them with some fluff.

But it's still another skirmishing unit, I hate that in 8th edition because I have to make special movement tray for them :p At least the Wraiths lost their Skirmishing rules so that's one less problem

oh wow, and i thought i had a lot of models i needed to paint XD this is ridiculous! and so many Wraiths too :B wraiths are awesome!

Really loving all the conversions as well! Can we get some close ups of the Vampiresses?

I take it you talk about the one with the dark dress?

Here's some pics of her;

And since I took them out, I couldn't resist to photograph her with her personal bodyguard, I just love the guy!

I'm with u_m on this. Really love the damsel. I've had the model lying around for years waiting to be converted to the dark side. Your version gave great inspiration.

Yep... definitely love that little lady. Nicely done.

That Bretonnian damsel has to be one of the best easily convertible Lahmian Vampire figures GW ever put out. Using one myself....

Great Bodyguard too. ;)

Loving the use of the classic models here. I am very interested in seeing the converted blood knights finished. The models are a real beauty, especially in metal which I always liked the feel of, if only they weren't so darn expensive.

One question: do you cast your basic core skeletons yourself? The material has and odd colour of that I'm sure they're not out of the regular plastic sprue ;) If so: what materials do you use to achieve that level of detail and what do you think about casting more complex shapes such as horses for example (the ones of the new BK-kit come to mind here).

Thanks all for the comments, glad you like my evil lady :D

Ah ah, no I haven't casted them  Those you see in this log are the 4th edition Skeletons, they were molded in that beige color :p The plastic undead from that time were all in that colors (skeletons, horses, chariots), as well as the 5th edition Skeletons kit when it was released. At some point they moved everything to gray plastic, but they used to make different colored sprue for some units.

But I did cast a few pieces, like my Stalker head in my TK log. I used resin to cast those, and since it was my first try at 2-part molding/casting, it turned out "ok", about as good as a Finecast model in term of bubbles xD I have no interest in casting "readily available" mini or parts, because it can be quite a pain to make a mold (especially a 2-part mold) and get a good casting, and all the time spent to do it isn't worth it (plus a good mold material isn't cheap).

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look at some bitz-stores then to get myself more horses. I might try molding shields or similar easy parts though. But therefore I won't use 2 part rubber molds but something called "instant mold" or even one made of GS. Should work out. It's not as good as resin but it's a fair amount easier and cheaper.

Good luck for your next models. I'm curious to see this log progress just as I've said before.

Fantastic job on the "gargoyle" fell-bats. Excellent technique and inspiring idea!

The Damsel is also very well done. Such a simple trick to turn something so pure and innocent into something so debased and reviled! Excellent work!

I'll be checking back often to watch your progress!

That skull shield is sick. That is a pretty impressive model, plus the whole 'Necro + Wight Bodyguard' is pretty classy (Kemmlar+Krell?).

The green at the bottom of the dress's flaps are just painted on right? That isn't a detail picked out?

I think he's asking about the hand painting you did on the dress, which is marvelous by the way...

There's no molded detail there.... I've painted a version of her myself and never considered doing a freehand like that... now I wish I had. :)

In that case, yes, it's hand-painted! For those who don't know the model, you can see the original on GW website.

Thanks for all the comment so far!

Oh man, I didn't even know it didn't have different levels to the dress! I thought there were 3 tiers of pleating to her dress.. from the front of that model it is very deceptive. The back makes it look more like a solid dress, but I didn't have any idea until you showed me GW's job of it.
