Well I suppose I've got to say it, great CC conversion, the only thing that could be better now if is they was painted, looking forward to some more pics.

This is easily the finest concept for an army I've seen in years, and you're pulling it off remarkably. I love the substitutions from different model ranges, the Puppet Master is brilliant and... yes. You're doing a wonderful job.

Black Knights
Two Black Knights. One of these is human, the other undead. I'm sure you can tell the difference.
The Human
If you look carefully, you'll see a foot on a pedal beneath the saddle of the model. This is the "knights" real foot. The other leg is part of his costume. It works just a little better in person.
The Cairn Wraith
The wraith is not disguised, per se, but his horse is -- disguised as a bicycle. It didn't turn out quite as well as I think it could have, but I'm a bit short on wheels, and I was trying to take a shortcut by using only one. It works well enough, however.
The Wraith's shield and banner both are going to be theater masks -- possibly frowns on all of them. The pumpkin head is in honor of Gorknoth, who asked so nicely. :mrgreen:

but what kind of tools do you use? What did you use on that bretonnian banner to take away a little bit of the top of the shield on it? Little details like that make a great difference, it looks very good

distilled awesomness! Have you thought about making a horse-costume blood knight? maybe with a guy following around behind clapping coconuts together?

More importantly, though, I use plastic melter. My preferred brand is RX-7, as it doesn't smell as bad as some of the other products out there.
It makes assembling miniatures a breeze, helps clean up those scrapes, gouges, and shavings left over from cleaning mold lines, and cleans up messes like the one I made on that flag.

It will take a metric year to finish these pieces, so I thought I'd show some work-in-progress shots. First...
The Puppet Master's Stage
This is the scheme I had in mind as I was building it, and I think it's turning out well. The front is all I have done with this, and it's nothing but base colors right now. I'll be continuing on with some clean-up, some black-lining, shading, and maybe some washes. I dunno. I have a lot of work to do, still.

Argh he is coming out of the screen to get me! Seriously though, that varghulf is scary as hell, good job on him! And the stage looks good, I can guess that it will take ages to paint it all! :O
And great idea on the biker knights. Again, how the hell to you come up with things like this?

His stilts are made of brass rod, surrounded by plasticard. The spikes are a combination of skeleton horns and Dark Eldar armor spines. The blades on the stilts are made from a Dark Eldar headpiece.

The Puppet Master stage and Puppet Master should be done by tonight. I'm planning on posting pictures as soon as they're done. Puppets will be done in the next day or so, then hopefully some of the kids by the end of the week. With any luck, I'll have the whole thing finished by this time next week.

An army shot wouldn't look like much right now. I've only got about half a dozen "skeletons" built and a dozen or so ghouls. No revellers, and all of my masquerade (grave guard) are sitting in a pile waiting to go on bases. (I think all of my masquerade models are non-GW.)
But since I'm a sucker for fulfilling fan requests, I'll work on something. It will take me some time to put it together, though.

I finally finished painting the puppet cart for my Corpse Cart. The highlights are much higher in the pictures than in real life. And none of the pictures properly capture the Puppet Master's color.
Here it is!

I like this one because it shows the shading around the edges of the stage -- the colors are brighter in the center stage.
This is the side that's going to have the master's title: "The Puppet Master ~ Nightly Shows"
This one shows the story the puppets are playing out fairly well. The human bowing before her new undead master. Here, she's addressing the crowd, bemoaning that she ever fought against such a powerful master.
The ladder that goes up to the top. I'm fairly amused about the skeleton's Mickey Mouse gloves.
And here are the drawers on the back of the cart. You can see the Puppet Master's "Special Drawer". The highlighting isn't as harsh as the picture shows.

That is superb, this is the most unique and well though out army I've seen, not only that you implement it with such skill that it amazes me. I look forward to seeing more and please keep the updates coming!

Pennywise
I haven't gotten a lot done in the last few days. I've been struggling with how to present my Grave Guard Masquerade.
But it occured to me the other day that I was missing a fairly obvious homage. Pennywise! I was told once that someone had seen the cover to "IT", by Stephen King, showing a clown reaching up through the sewer grate. It creeped them out so much that they avoided sewers for years.
And so now it's in my Carnivale!

As always, the colors are washed out in this quick-and-dirty picture, but the only thing really lost is the grey of the cobblestones, and some red stains on the street.
