Introduce yourself!

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Hello there Count Orlok (and all of you other new folks that I haven't yet stumbled upon), and welcome to Carpe Noctem.

As opposed to you I've always been on the side of the bad guys throughout my Warhammer years, being a devoted Chaos player until I happened on the VC back in November '08. While your usual Vampire Counts army might not be seen as much better than the followers of Chaos, the fluff I've created for my own is slightly more benign, placing them somewhere in the shadowy twilight zone of good and evil. :)

I look forward to seeing your escapades around the forum.

Evening all,

Originally I started off with W40K and have since gathered a rather large amount of models! Necrons, some Imperial Guard, some Tau and a Space Marines company under construction. In addition to this I have approximately 2000pts of VC for Fantasy. About half painted I have just written my points list and am going to post shortly to get some feed back.

Unfortunately since i'm currently in my student house my room is rather on the small side and I have no where to paint, although I intend to do as much as humanly possible when back home in Easter and then the summer.

Thanks in advance

The Crimson Duke

Aka Matt

hello,
i've been playing 40k now for a couple of years and have finally made the switch to FB along with two friends (ogres and new skaven) have just bought an army of VC about 1000-1500 points strong

Greetings all, as a DE player I have been lurking for a while and getting tips and ideas on how to beat the VC. The probelm is I think that someone may have bitten me:konrad:; as now I am starting a VC army! I hope to add to the "how to beat Dark Elf tactics" in the near future. Again, hello there and any ?'s on DE PM me or start a thread and I will jump in.

*Looks* suspiciously at DoN*

Don ----> :vampire2:

Welcome here. You'll find that to play competitively, you'll have quite some tools ready to do your bidding. I believe the DE usually pepper the enemy and then hammer it down, but forget that! VC don't have shooting!

I hope you have fun with the undead!

I totally blame my "rebirth" on DoN. After reading alot of his posts and the Bloodlines project, I was hooked, or bitten if you will. Also, this site is really well ran. Druchii.net is an exceptional site, and most of the other forums are ill maintained rubbish with the same five people posting. Carpe Noctem is an exception to the norm. Great members, and awesome feedback. I cannot wait to get more involved.

@MayorDaley, I'm looking forward to see your input against the dastardly Dark Elves. I've not been able to update those threads properly for a while due to outside reasons but anything to be added is still very welcome. :)

Oh and of course..
Welcome all of you newcomers! :vampire2:

Oooooh, lots of fresh blood!

A warm and bloody welcome to all! I hope you enjoy the site, and if you do have any questions your welcome PM doesn't answer, then please feel free to ask.

MayorDaley - I am glad to see I managed to get you hooked :vampire2:

Hi all ,just a few lines to introduce myself, i live in England near Manchester, my local shop is the Arndale cntr one and i usualy go in every other Sunday with a mate and his son, i just go to paint though. Only been playing a short time but have a 2500+ VC and a 2500 Empire paited to a fair standard, i have been playing RQ RPG though for the past 20 years, basicaly the same game in all that time. Im a member of a local WH club, near Heptonstall ,a place called Slack Top (thr is Slack Bottom as well ,i kid you not, google map it) but due to us being in a church we cannot use Magic (have to respect thr wishes but we do get the use of the hall for free) but you get used to it and it can make games a bit more interesting. Hopeing to go to a club in Blackburn soon for the first time with a m8 whos been playing a long time so hopefully i'll be able to play with magic.
Cheers Dave

Hello everyone,

After lurking in the shadows sneaking peeks at your marvelous website I have decided to join your terrifying ranks and receive the full glory of membership.

About myself I am very new to wargaming (since October 2009) although I have been a lifetime fan of not only fantasy stories but tale of vampires and the undead.

My friend who got me hooked onto warhammer recently moved and left me with my 5k+ army and nobody to play against. So if you are ever in Utah shoot me a message and ease my need for some battles.

Hello to all.

After 20 years of hibernation from the tabletop gaming world,
(aside from chess) and 15 years of online gaming, I have just
recently been bitten by the Warhammer bug.... Make that vampire.

I am veteran of dungeons and dragons and have read more fantasy
books than I care to account for without being labeled a shut in.
I currently reside in Ontario Canada in a house full of flatmates,
one which has been playing Warhammer off and on for five years.

After recently watching him build and paint his warriors of chaos
army for about a week, the game started to grab my interest.
Browsing through the codex a few times and talking about it with
him, I decided to grab a few models to build for myself.

Now nine days have passed and I have an army of VC'S around 2500
points, the VC codex in hand and the rule book coming in the mail.
I can't seem to build and paint my models fast enough now as I am
very eager to start my first match.

Just from a dozen or so entries I've read in this forum so far,
they have helped me to decide on how to shape my army for now.
I look forward to reading many more from all of you and I am open
to suggestions, tips and whenever you care to throw my way.

Thanks,

Ater

I'd like to extend a great big Welcome to all of you newcomers who I've yet to run into. I'm sure you'll all enjoy your stay here and if there's any uncertainty about the forum, just shoot off your queries to the forum staff! :)

This here requires immediate attention though...

'Codex' is a 40k thing. Around these parts, it should be 'army book'. "...the VC army book". ;)

Again, welcome one and all! :)

Hi and thank you for bringing the difference between codex and VC army book to my attention. Codex sounds so much cooler but I can live with VC army book. I expect you'll see a few more mistakes by me like that but I appreciate the heads up.

Thanks,

Ater

Ah well, don't worry about that too much - I meant it more as a tongue-in-cheek thing. People will get your thinking perfectly fine regardless of if you call it a codex or an army book. :)

hello all,
I'm Tall, been collecting for many years now, just recently decided to dust off my VC and actually paint/play them.
Looking forward to picking your collective brains for all the help I'm going to need.

Gut evenink.

Found this forum looking for stuff on how to better construct Blood Knights.

Name's Doug, but go by the nom de clavier Mr. Dreadful whilst online... I'm 30 and I've been playing Warhammer on-and-off since 1989 and still haven't finished painting even a small army (but the VCs are closest I've come to doing so). I also do tabletop RPGs, LRP and the occasional MMORPG. I play the guitar with enough competence to impress people who don't play the guitar. Army-wise I have some Ogres and the aforementioned VCs for WFB. In 40k I play Orks. I have Orc and Chaos Blood Bowl teams and a bunch of Skaven for Mordheim.

Have yet to find an article on constructing the Blood Knights (which, at £50 a box, I think should stick themselves together while I have a nice cup of tea and watch telly)

Hi Mr Dreadful. A fellow ancient, splendid, welcome welcome. This should probably go to another thread called 'How much for those blood knights?!' but I won't ramble let I incur the wrath of the watchful of Carpe Noctem. Well, not much.

The blood knights, in my opinion, are so expensive that I feel on opening the box actual vampire knights should ride out and go on to conquer a small country for me to retire to. Now, alternatively, you could go for gamezones infinitely superior mournful knights. Now I like GW stuff, a lot of it is absolutely top notch, but the mournful knights really do leave GWs blood knights black and smouldering in the dawn sunlight.

But anyway, welcome to Carpe Noctem, friendliest place on the web for the living dead.

Hi all

Been playing WFB since the old undead list but ran Tomb Kings from when they came out until just recently and now I'm making the swap to VC (only so many of those god aweful skeletal horses I can look at/paint)

Have yet to paint a single zombie but I already prefer VC to TK!

I'm Lucifer drake ,

Though I don't currently play VC I plan on playing a Vampire warband for Mordheim in the near future. Hope to meet other VC fans/players both locally & abroad.
