Welcome, hehe don't worry we're very friendly but dodgy people here, a lot of pretty odd jokes go around, that's definitely not the worst I've seen today xD

It's awesome that your an RP fan, we need more people like you really. Best way to go is probably the warhammer rulebook, but that's £40, so that's silly. I would try a website called Lexicanum, that should cover you quite nicely.

Hope to see you around

Hello all,

Long time watcher, first time biter.

I have been following this forum for some time and I have been very pleased with the discussions and level of respect for each other. I have been playing Warhammer for around 20 years off and on, and painting for longer. I currently have too many armies, painted either by myself, or purchased outright. I first started with dwarfs and then became quickly addicted to Undead, and more importantly Vampire counts. I think this is due to their capacity for fun conversions (compared to nearly none for dwarfs) and simplicity for painting. I have a large army now, probably between 5000-6000 points base and it continues to grow slowly (mainly zombies :) ). I look forward to contributing to the threads here as well to learn from them.

Cheers
Rabid

Welcome,

I doubt we can help you on much then! You seem very experienced on the subject! Feel free to dispense advice around the forums, unlike other Warhammer forums, we realise that just because people haven't posted many posts, they still may know a lot about the subject, so you will be listened to. If you do need help with anything fele free to message me, or if you feel like a chat.

Perhaps I can goad you into Roleplaying?

If you're looking for dwarf conversions then the gyrocopter is your best friend! Lots of score for dynamic modeling there, after all it doesn't have to look exactly like a gyrocopter. I've seen biplanes and even winged dwarfs with steam drills:)

Hello

New to the forum. Taking my Vampires out for my yearly October revamp. I haven't played many games since sixth edition but plan to get the Vampires on the table a few times at the FLGS new open gaming Wednesday.

Welcome, well if you plan on gaming a lot, we have a lovely tactial forum here with people who are gods at this stuff. They're out of my league so I wouldn't know where to begin, I'm just the lowly story wrighter :)

Feel free to check the painting and Roleplay/background sections of the forum as well, they're equally interesting!

Enjoy

Hello my name is SaintsTerror on this formu. First time writer and reader. I really love the VC and have played against em for a long time, but never managed to wrap my head around building an army.
However those times are past, and I now have a ton of VC stuff on my hands. But before I start it I found this page looking for takticks and though it a good place to start as any.

And while I'm at it, I have a question regarding the new VC army book. Why was the meanest most bad as vampires left out from the book, where are my Necrarchs?? Why where they left out? I want a Necrarchs army as my VC, any suggestions on army build and taktiks?

Welcome! always good to have more faces, necrarchs are still make-able with a bit of fennegling, but the previous two books have focussed mostly (well, almost entirely) on the von carstein vampires as the von carsteins are the most warlike wheras the lahmians play political intrigue, the blood dragons are more-soloists and the necrarchs are mostly content to set themselves up in a castle and study magic till the ancient dead corpses of cows heed their calling and rise, conglomerating on the necrarchs present place of habitation :P

If you head over to the tactics section I'm sure you'll find the advice you seek to get your necrarch army off the ground even with the limitations of the current book

Hi all

Have the read the site from time to time. I started collecting VC in 7th eddtion of the army book. I favour a very blood dragon themed army with lots of wights, skelies and vampires.

Hello, I'm coming new to WFB and to the Vampire Counts. I started in 40K about a year ago, and having basically finished the army I want to do for 40K, found myself without a painting/modelling project. I thought that it might be a good time to start a WFB army, and spent some time at a FLGS. I really fell hard for the look and story elements of the Vampire Counts, and the wide range of models.

Right now, I'm getting a handle on the rules for WFB and my new army, and starting to outline what I want to model and paint. I'm hoping to have a table-ready force around mid-to-late summer of 2013. That won't be so far off for me, b/c I really do like the painting and modelling process, and I won't show up for a game with a half-painted model or one that isn't based.

Looking forward to getting deeply in my VC army and the discussion here.

Welcome Kevin,

I am sadly cursed with the same curse as you, and haven't played a game with an army I own in two years now as I'm painting up a huge Dark eldar force, and I'm forcing myself to paint to my best standard possible.

We have lovely painting and modelling sections here so there is plenty of help to be given and blogs of people with similiar aspirations to you too, so you can see how they paint their VC armies "live" as it were :D

If you don't feel like the regular aspect of the hobby, you will find me residing in the Roleplay section of the website, weaving my lovely stories.

Hope to see you around  Feel free to PM me if you're bored or want some help

Hello all. I realized I didn't introduce myself. I used to play Warhammer back in 6th edition. During that time I played around with Chaos, mostly Khorne, Tzeencth, and Slaanesh. Before finally settling on a all Slaanesh cavalry army. I took ill late 2007 and I ended up selling all my armies. I recently got back into the hobby and made a Tomb King army. When I realize it is not the exact play style I wanted, but was undead. I figured I look into Vampire Counts. I really like having two armies anyways. Some of you may seen my idea all ready for a Wood Elf VC army. I hope to start showing some pictures of these as I get them converted and painted.

This is the link to my Tomb King paint blog.

Hello! Long time player first time posting in this thread. From time to time I would read up here and now I just decided to join hehe. Ive played since 5th and stopped at 7th (HATED HATED HATED WHAT THEY DID TO OUR BOOK AND ARMY 7TH ED) Came back to playing 8th ed when the new army book came out and although still a bit disappointed since I loved the bloodlines and I am a big Necrarch fan from the fluff to how they played and they are only mentioned once in the new book and no unit representation at all :( Anyways CHeers all sorry for the rant haha.

Hello, I have been playing warhammer on and off within the last decade. I am currently looking to start a vampire counts army that has a blood dragon(s) who wandered the wastes look. I hope to post more in my armies development. This site has always been a great source of info and I am glad to finally be a member here.

Welcome to the site. I haven't been here long, but it didn't take long to realize that there are an amazing % of players that have PLOGS as well as suggestions & skill to learn from. It makes for some seriously interesting lunch time reading.

I've been perusing the forum for a few weeks now and finally decided to join because of all the amazing members' posts and knowledge. I'll try my best to contribute, though I'm only now getting reacquainted with the dark arts. I used to play DE in 6th edition, then started converting everything into VC. I've been getting back into WHFB again, picking up where I left off with my VC. I have around 2500 points, with maybe 10% painted. Sad that I don't get to play with bloodlines anymore, but so many new toys! Thanks to all the forum members, helping me transition so happily into 8th edition.

AH WHERE AM I AND WHY DO I LOOK LIKE LIBERACE?

Hello everyone, I am a recent addition to the ranks of the undead. I've been pouring over the codex as I start planning out my army (I'm probably going to start with the army box released for the holidays). I hope to become a regular member on the forums and I hope that with your help I'll take out all the other fantasy players at my local GW in NYC. (BTW I play to have fun and I love modeling in this hobby, but some times a smack down is required if you know what I mean).

Hey Ignatiousthegracious and zachay!

Welcome to Carpe Noctem, one of the best forums on the internet, in my humble opinion ;)

If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask ... Well, anyone, really! We try and make CN as friendly as possible!

Hi all

First post and certainly fresh blood for the forum :konrad:

I'm Gary, I have been collecting and painting Citadel Miniatures for 23 years, I was introduced to and subsequently hooked on the Undead when my Father bought me the classic Undead Horde boxed set - what a truly glorious set of plastics those were (still are)!!! I had a rather large collection of plastics and metals from the Golden Age of Citadel - the 1980's xD but sadly most of the models were lost in house move

So now I am an avid collector of Classic Citadel Undead - I am in the process of trying to re-build my beloved collection, so far I have tracked down the Nightmare Legion, about 30 metal skeletons ranging from the classic pre-slotta C17 range upto the 1989 minis such as the Screamer and Hellblade Chariot Riders (love those models!) and also my all time fav the Mounted Liche who rides to battle in a robe and crown holding his sceptre aloft!!

I am currently searching for the 'Death Riders' who are loving called:

Spikebone
Evil Rot
Doomsmile
Goreprow
Blackheart
Blood Harvest
Death Dart

and their trusty steeds:

Lizard Skin
Fallen Flesh
Bones

The models are from the C21 Undead Cavalry featured in the Citadel Journal Spring 1986

If anyone is willing to sell or point me in the direction of these models, you will have my eternal gratitude

Best Regards

Gary

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to Warhammer, but I have a couple friends that have been playing Fantasy and 40k for years- they have/are working on a Dwarf army, a Skaven army, a Warriors of Chaos army, and an Ogre army- and after looking at the different armies, I thought Vampire Counts were awesome. So here I am. I'm currently planning on buying the VC Battalion, some Grave Guard, and a general of some sort to start- I'm not sure what kind of general yet. I still have some homework to do. My friends and I have decided to start small, ~500 points, so I'll be expanding slowly. It was quite nice to find such an extensive forum dedicated just to Vampire Counts!

Seeya around,
JPEG.

Welcome JPEG, King Arthur (and all others on the page beforehand) ! the two of you are from pretty opposite ends of the spectrum! I hope this forum can provide all the answers you need (has for me!) but even if it doesn't I hope to see you hang around anyway, we have quite a number of players who don't even have vampire counts and a decent number on top of that who don't even do the hobby anymore but stick around 'cause it's great in these parts :vampire3: . I look forward to seeing more of you soon
