Alright, finally got an update.

Been working on several smaller projects lately, like the zombies and my arrer boyz, so I decided to start something real. Bought these trio a few days ago:

Assembled them really quickly and pretty much straight out of the box. This is the first time I've put together on of these new single pose plastic characters and I'm really impressed. The quality of the sculpt and the moulds is amazing, and they all fit together so neatly. I've done a little bit of gap filling on the elf and dwarf and reposed the sword had on the elf a little. The empire guys is completely straight out of the box. That is of course excluding the base. They are all getting some fancy bases, the empire guy is defending some stairs, the slayer is jumping of a small ledge into a swamp (or probably at something standing in the swamp) and the loremaster is running across a crumbling wasteland. All three bases have been made with milliput, although the stairs are styrofoam at the core. This is also the first time I've used milliput and I'm quite pleased with it.

Anyways, the reason for me getting these minis is not only so that I can try out some new stuff, both in basing and in painting (got some really cool plans for them in that area). They will be parting gifts for my closest friends at the university. This is also the explanation for strange shape of the base they are mounted on. Those are in fact not bases but lids for boxes you store dice in. And here is the trio with those boxes attached to the lids:

They all get their own personal display montre! This is however not the first time I've done this, they Khrone guy in the first post of this plog had the same trick. For some reason I forgot to mention it back then though.

@Mad 'At The plastic character blisters are cool, I've built up a few myself and have nothing bad to say about them.

Those are some cool dioramas you've done there for your mates, I'm sure they'll be totally impressed!

How about a river troll's head poking out of the swamp for the slayer...

Yeah, it's strange how I've managed to avoid them. It's not something I've done intentionally, I just never needed the characters they made like that.

Had the same thought with a river troll idea before, but I don't think there is enough room. The water that close to the shore should be quite shallow so I can't really put a head in it. If I'd made a full diorama of it I'd definitely put a river troll poking out of the water a bit further out.

Based on all your previous works I'm sure you can pull of something very nice with these models.

I also like the gesture that you're doing for your friends Quite a nice idea of using the dice boxes.

I'm really glad you put some zombies here, your zombies are the best here. I love the 'scarecrow' banner The idea for the plaster texture on the building was also great.

@Borgnine: Yeah, a lot of plogs but not that many updates all together I'm afraid.
The zombies are not actually mine, I painted them for @Melle, hence why they are in here and not in my army plog. Glad you like them though.

First time doing metal like this, using Metallic Non Metallic Metal (or whatever you call it). Tried it a few times but never anything large enough for it to actually be noticeable. Quite happy with the results.

Left to do:
Fireball
Hair
Cloak

I'm pondering to do some freehand details on his clothing. Thinking a red rune in the bottom corners of the white tunic, and possibly something at the back of the neck thing. On the red I'm thinking a black line near the edge, possibly some design in the very corner. For the blue I have no idea. Thoughts are very welcome.

And what little I've managed on the Captain, his base:

Alright, one last update here before I go up to northern Sweden. I'll be gone for 3 weeks and won't be doing any painting in that time. Will bring along some sculpting work though (and my forum activity will be pretty much unchanged).

Anyways, here are the three minis I've been working on. Enjoy =)

They are all almost finished. Will add water effect to the Slayer's base, some dead leaves on the Captain's, and possibly some branches to the Loremaster's. Also haven't glued their heads in place yet.

I looked for something to criticise, but they look definitely fine for me Well, maybe the elf could use some light OSL, but the fire is awesome and the rest of the mini is also awesome. I think I like the empire hero the best, especially when he's in the case.

How did you do the base of the Elf? It's not Agrellan Earth, or is it?

@Borgnine: Sorry about the delay. Base was actually made using Agrellan Earth. First I used milliput to create small hills and height differences though. Then came the black prime colour, and a layer of Rhinox Hide. After that I applied the Agrellan Earth, painting a very, very thick layer into the "valleys" of the base, while keeping it relatively thin on the "hills". Finally I washed it with Rhinox Hide and drybrushed it with Steel Legion Darb and bone colour.

I've got a small update on the windmill. Mainly been working on the sails this past week. When the whole propeller thing is complete I will take some pics (and maybe a video ) showing the whole thing. For now you'll have to settle with these:

A frame made in CAD and printed with a Maker Bot, then painted brown.

A hub, also printed, that will hold all four wind sails in place at the right angle. In the centre a piece of lego is attached so that is can slide on and off the gear-shaft.

And the hub with all four wind sails in place. Next comes decorating and painting the hub to match.

And to top it all off, here are some hills, stone and obstacles I cut out and painted up:
