"I wouldn't say that ... The Witch Hunters will keep some in their Iron Keep outside Nuln, no doubt the Faith has a few written by those of their number who have combatted the beasts and survived! After all, it was Grand Theonogist Wilhelm III who fell from the walls of Altdorf with Vladimir von Carstein.
"I am sure that there was some truth in the tomes our little munchkin friend," he said with a dismissive gesture, "but there was likely more hearsay, conjecture and exaggeration than truth, I will agree. After all, how much do we truly know about the beasts, bar that they kill us and drink our blood!"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Regarding the dark haired man called Victor before him, Lucien took a drink from his goblet "What you say maybe true but don't sell the lad short. He may well have read only 57 books on folklore and not the complete journals of the teenage Nagash. Although he has not said what books they were. But still 57 books about vampires! I'm sure there is many a useful fact stored in that mirthless pumpkin upon his shoulders."

As dawn peaked over the mountain the cock rose, coerced from slumber by the invigorating warmth. It was going to be long hard day, but before all that it had a job to do. Stretching to its full extent it let forth a mighty explosion:

'COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!!!'

Day 1 has started

"Damned cockerels," the noble muttered, shaking his head. He looked out of the window and saw huge shadows cast over the grounds to the west as the orange sun burst over in the east. He sighed. "A short night, it would seem!" The noble placed his glass down on the top table and took the seat which had previously been the Lady Jacqueofffs, and placed his tall, black, leather boots on the table, crossing them at the ankle.

"That may well be, sir. However, I still say that very little, if anything, from those books can be trusted. I highly doubt that the authors had any legitimate experience with vampires."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

From the corners of the room a pale, ghoul-like figure clad entirely in black slid out and suddenly started to yell at the hostess.

"Why do you judge me?! You'll kill innocent people! You'll start a massacre! You've betrayed the law! LAAAAAAAAAWWW!"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Gregor took out an amulet, studying it slightly, before grabbing something from a nearby table that hadn't been eaten over the course of the night. He began to write on a napkin as he sat down.
Scoffing the entree in a couple of bites, he looked around at the assembled host.

With a slight undertone, Obadiah picked up Karl's mutterings. Is your silver worth more than your life? Certainly not worth more than most of us in here. You wouldn't even lose it, so what's the problem?

As the crow reverberated through the hall he finally sat, at the eastern long table, and silently faced the ghoul-like figure as he cried out seeming nonsense.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Mihael pointed a triangle of chocolate mid mouthful at the cynical man, and the person who called him boy all the time.

"I'm glad you broght that point up." he said thickly though the chocolate

"I'm well aware that vampires are shrouded in mystery and as such I'm not believing anything 100% until I see the evidence myself. So as for now, I shall use my knowledge as a guideline."

Turning to the grovelling man in front of him he suppressed a snigger.

"Well so far there's not a single shred of evidence for any of us yet, we cannot go by visual appearances, that is after all how vampires blend in. So the only way I forsee absolutely, undeniably finding the vampire or vampires is questioning.. a lot of it. You can always spot a liar eventually, no one is perfect."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Lying is not very indicative of vampirism actually. Markus pointed out quietly. If you looked at the witch hunter Gurther van Reikshaw he questioned and then staked and burned two hundred people. However later evidence showed that in fact none of them were likely vampires. People hear what they want to hear. I devised a lie detecting machine however it ionly seems to work half the time, which could be due to resonating metamorphosis on the astral...
You're boring people sweetie. Kate cut in. Hey can i have some of that chocolate?

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Mihael narrowed his eyes in thought as he patiently ignored the offered wine and placed it beside him.

"Well... if everyone wants to live, they will tell the truth. Apart from the vampires, there will be some point where they clearly have to lie to make sure they don't reveal their vampirism, a normal human will never have to do that if he does not fear being discovered a vampire."

Mihael's voice trailed off and he looked to the side, thinking.. his breathing paused and then he bit his lip. Looking up again, he suddenly seemed much less sure of himself.

"All of this is speculation though... I don't know enough about vampires to be anywhere near as conclusive as I'd like to be.. I feel I've been much too sure about myself, I know so little after all.."

He rested his head on his hands uneasily, handing Kate a portion of chocolate. "There you go. Don't have too much at once or you'll end up feeling faint from the caffeine." he said absently, his mind obviously in another place.

Bastion's eyes widened in surprise as the drunk young woman approached him and, giggling, poured champagne all over his food and in his goblet. Then she decided to take his drink altogether!
"I wish I got this much attention from sober women..." he said slightly despondently.
He assembled a new plate of food. As he ate, he listened to the seemingly intelligent ramblings of the man in the tweed jacket."Does anyone realize that he is actually saying very little?" he mumbled to himself in between mouthfuls.
Eventually, he finished his food. He stood up and faced the rest of the room. "Ah, nothing like a plate of good food to settle the nerves." He grinned broadly. "Let us commence with the pleasantaries!" He held up a finger. "But first...
He hurriedly paced to the privy.

There, he saw the form of the woman he had seen earlier lying on her back, snoring loudly.
"Well, well, this will never do! Fortunately, I have just the thing." He withdrew from his coat something that looked a bit like a sock. He brought it up to his mouth and blew softly. It immediately inflated with force enough to send Bastian flying backwards into the wall. "Ow... Dammit, the Instant-Anywhere-Matress-it'll-blow-your-socks-off-I'm-not-joking-be-careful™ gets me every time." He rose to his feet, and slotted the mattress into one of the cubicles. Then he lifted the woman up and carefully put her down on it. He nodded to himself, and walked back out into the party.

"As we seem to be stuck here with no obvious way out, I believe introductions are in order. My name is Bastion Eberbauer."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Antonio raised his eyebrow and it disappeared into his well-cared for hair; and he tapped his cane against the floor solidly, creating a thud sound distinctive from the usual tap. "Sir Ebenbauer; a shame to meet under such circumstances. I have heard good things of your wares. As for me, I am Sir Antonio Veneziia, son of the notable Alexandre Veneziia; a respected nobleman from the highest echelons of society. My family has links to the Imperial family itself!"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Bastian grinned broadly at the knight.
"Salutations! I am in fact well acquainted with the Veneziias... One Carlotta is a big fan of my Quivering Quillon line of crossguards." He chuckled. "Guaranteed to shake your opponent off their guard!"

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Mihael steadily rose out of his daze and looked around him with his heavy hooded eyes, looking almost lost if it weren't for his piercing gaze.

"I'm sorry, I can't trust you with my real name. You can call me M if you like." he muttered quietly

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"I am going to call you A."

Serethia smirked slightly.

"It's Serethia Ashfall, a pleasure."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"My third cousin ... Twice removed, I think? Never been entirely there; fancies herself a swordswoman. I've seen her fight ... She wouldn't hold her own against a goblin, I'm afraid." The nobleman then turned his inscrutable, questioning gaze to the youngster in their midst.

"Why, then, should we trust you? If you cannot give us your name, why should we suffer your presence? It seems to be those who would not be entirely open with us should be removed from the equation, if there is no other choice, for fear of them being out of the creatures who would love to slit our throats and bleed us dry ... You are suspicious, boy, and no mistake. How did you even acquire an invitation to such an event?
"And a true pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lady Serethia. At least it looks like we shall have some ... Refined company for however long our esteemed hostess finds it necessary to hold us hostage."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Mihael looked at Antonio and shrugged

"Considering at least one of us is a vampire, you honestly expect me to reveal my real name to anyone, let alone trust anyone? If a vampire escapes from here with our names in order to revenge a fallen colleague, you're all dead men."

"And women." he added, popping another square into his mouth.

"I merely value my own life, it seems you don't. Each to his own though." he sighed dramatically.

Chewing slowly, he thought. "Actually, hiding my name probably shows evidence against me being a vampire. If I were a vampire, I know I would tell you all my name, because it wouldn't matter after you were all dead anyway."

"Don't worry, I hardly expect you to trust me either, in your point of view I am perfectly capable of being a vampire, after all I have no way of disproving that fact." he said idly waving a chunk of chocolate around.

Upon mentioning an invitation he looked up with innocent, youthful eyes. "There was an invitation? I heard the word that there was unusual chocolate here," he grinned devilishly motioning to a small pile of darker coloured chocolate directly to his right,"So I decided to pay a visit."

Shaking his head and smiling, he popped the chunk into his mouth and picked up a complete bar, balancing the point on his index finger.

"Notice how you've started the questioning I knew we'd have to get round to doing to find the vampire. I commend you on your initiative.. man." he said in his best condascending 'boy' impersonation of Antonio

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"So, you shouldn't even be here; you came scrounging for expensive delicacies? Once more, that isn't going to help your case here, I'm afraid." The nobleman was not visibly bothered in the least by the boy's attempted imitation; in fact, it seemed to amuse him as a ghost of a smile reached his eyes.
"And, in the event of a vampire escaping Anita's wards, I have no doubt that they are more than capable of tracking down whom we are. Preposterous to hide your name on such a reason! It looks much more like you are hiding something than protecting yourself ... I regret this, whomever you are, but there is something here with us, and I do not want to take risks.
"Whatever we are to do, it is my solid opinion that it be done to this one!"

VOTE: MIHAEL KEEHL/LUCIFER

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"How unfortunate" said Lucien regarding Mihael "Not really the insight I was hoping for. Nevermind, the day is still young."

Moving towards and then taking a seat at the table by the great staircase, Lucien removes his harlequin patterned half mask. Rubbing his tired eyes he tucks a napkin into his shirt collar. He raises his goblet to the men all ready seated. "Mmmm, breakfast" he says cheerily and then glances at the corpse in its pool of congealed blood. "I may give the fried tomatoes and black pudding a miss."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Michael shrugged nonchalantly.

"As I said, each to one's own. If you feel that me hiding my name proves my vampirism, then so be it. I'm the first to admit my paranoid nature, I simply don't like telling people my name anyway, identity is a valuable thing."

Seemingly unconcerned about his precarious state, he looked straight down at the table and continued sorting his way through the piles of chocolate.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"And away they go!" chuckled Lucien at hearing the first accusing vote being cast.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"Such an accusation against A is unfair. The boy has done nothing wrong, merely eaten chocolate. Which is what we should all be doing." Kate said firmly selecting a piece of chocolate and delicately eating it with relish.
"Ah, this is truly divine. If only vampires were forced to consume chocolate they would not be so widely feared. Oh and by the way to prove I am not a vampire, or maybe to prove i am one, I am not sure which my name is Lucy." She said and went to curtsey but then sort of turned it into an awkward bow.
"You idiot don't try and deceive them, what if they found out you were lying, your name is Kate." Markus whispered furiously then turned nervously to the others with a shy smile. "And I am Markus the Inventor.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

"There is nothing fair about this entire situation. My decision stands, unless I can be convinced by the boy I am incorrect."

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Listening to the fervor of noise surrounding him, Caleb spoke once more, again directed towards Mihael.

"You advocate for all to be truthful, claiming that a vampire may slip in his lies, and then you will not be truthful with your name. You have much to say on the subject of vampires and then claim that you know so little. It seems to me that you should be careful with that tongue. And what makes you think any of us will leave this place alive?"

He then turned to Antonio.

"You sir, at least seem to have the proper breeding required to attend such a function as this. I am pleased to make your aquaintance."

He nodded his head slightly to the noble in greeting.

RE: VAU IC: The Fangtastical and Arousing Tale of Anita Jacqueofff

Antonio smiled indulgently at Caleb and gestured openly. "Thank you, sir! May I ask who you yourself are? I like to be able to use names when talking to people, it feels much more ... Civilised, I suppose." This was followed by a dark, unhappy look at Mihael, before the noble sighed and looked to Caleb once more.

"You certainly look to have lead an interesting life so far! Let's hope we can rat out these creatures and send them to join their progenitors in their burning hells so that we can all survive to live some more."
