The hidden words in the letters had 3-4 sequence...

Mortis's Engine
Coven's Throne

seem to be the correct answers

This is much like an unfinished post. That smiley belongs to a picture! It looks just too unfitting now. It's a truth. There should be a picture right below, the smiley. And while there's no picture I can't say it is good. I can't even say, that I like it! It's just not right, the way it is. I must ask for that picture, that surely got lost somewhere on the way :innocent:

I think that it would make sense to focus more on zombies with VC as the Tomb Kings are focused already on Skellies. Hopefully they will come up with something good.

Altogether I am more interested in what will be the new Lore Attribute for the Lore of Vampires.

A year ago before I started playing I started collecting the army, and I had painted in detail 50+ Zombies with love. Then I got the book and... never used them. Well maybe once, or twice but not to any good effect as i didn't use them again. This made me very sad. Now I'm hoping zombies to come back viable again.

As I said, reduce their cost much more and we'll be being paid to field them, and GW have never really been ones for buffing things. But who knows?

It came to me, that zombies, with 6 points, 2S, 4T and a 6+ ward save would be totally ok. Dear GW, I want these for Christmas!

Core:
Skeletons (down to 4 or 6pts)
Ghouls
Zombies
Dire wolves
Corpse cart (can join zombie units)
Bat swarms

Special:
New monstrous thingy variant 1
New monstrous thingy variant 2
Black knights
New rider variant
Spirit hosts
Fell bats
Grave Guard (you forgot them they are not going anywhere)

Rare:
Black coach
Other black coach kit variant
Blood knights
Varghulf

This looks very possible givin my extensive web search. Ghouls will never move from core, I can see them becoming skirmishers (I HOPE THE HELL NOT) and alive. Ghouls could use a full command, hey if a banner works for zombies why not ghouls. I to would like the ban on wolves ,not counting towards core, lifted and i believe it will happen. Wolves were to be limited use in the 7th edition because they would have been too powerful on some builds (cheap and fast Light cavalry). now in 8th its not an issue. with massive hordes of cavalry from the goblins army book i think it would be fine.

MY HOPES
Necromancers LV 1 with upgrade to LV 2 and return of Master Necromancers Lv 3 with upgrade to Lv 4

OTHER Ramblings ive seen
Return of the bloodlines with some old powers and new powers, all with increased point costs to limit power builds. Alot of vampire counts magic items will be gone, all new 8th edition books have less items than previous editions we should expect ours to follow suit.

A MIXED FEAR AND HOPE
I've been reading alot of talk of points drop on almost every unit and the reason why is our magic will mimic Tomb Kings with the ability to regrow. So we will regrow core as our magic's aattribute, so in essence its going to be harder raise them. And of course a spell that will allow all units to regrow, however lords, heros, special, rares will be limited to one wound per spell. Each caster with the spell will be restricted to one cast. Being harder to raise will make the current points valuses too high so we will be able to field more in a unit. Its a good and bad thing.

It would really surprise me if they made any part of the VC army "Alive" again, just because of the amount that would complicate the rules. Mind you I personally would love having skirmishing, alive ghouls again. I miss having things that can bait and flee. I think ghouls will pretty much stay the same, except maybe get command options. They're already pretty good mainline troops as compared to other armies, and the drop in invocation abilities I think will be enough of a "nerf" in GW's eyes.

The resurrection limits sound a little harsh to me, at least when it comes to limiting special and rares. Why do that when Regrowth from a book lore already allows more models that that to be brought back? I think they might limit it by unit type instead, kind of like it already is, but there's no telling for sure.

Oh, and you forgot the Terrorgheist.

I think the most important thing requiring a change besides points reduction is how crumble works now... I should be able to have a big mob of zombies fighting another unit and ram a vargulf up their @$$ and not have him die cuz they killed more of my zombies.

On the terrorghesit... it would be nice to have his leadership increased a few points. Redirecting charges is almost impossible outside the General's prescence, plus the gheist crumbling to death immediately after the General dies is a bit frustrating.

It is really making me consider not fielding it due to it's horridly low leadership... and that's not making it too strong for i didn't even begin to gripe about it's measly 6+ save.

it ridiculus large base size
short range missle attack

i gave it a 12 game trial conclusion leave it at home

best use deploy opposite of choas knights and watch them try to tip toe across the field

Just a thought but seeing all this stuff about bloodlines then reading through this and warseer and seeing the term 'lores' maybe there will be three lores similar to chaos. A nerarch lore, lamia lore, and carstein lore. Blood dragons following khorne esk nature only being concerned with fighting. And on the topic of the tomb king spells. I dunno they got a lot of defensive spells I mean I wouldn't mind a Ward save spell

The sad thing is that the new TK lore is actually awesome... just not for TK. Ward saves, killing blow, movement spells, they're all amazing unless you have sub-par troops to use them. That's the main thing that worries me with our upcoming release: a lack of synergy. Its cool to get new toys, but if none of them play together then there's no point and they lose a lot of that luster.

Agreed. Lovely having all these options (Black coach, Plague cart, Mortis Engine, Coven Throne) ... but it s going to look a bit like wacky races if you field them all at the same time.
xD

The only way forward is to build 4 different armies with distinct flavours.xD

Plague Cart, not Corpse Cart, eh?

And there you have it... looks like Blood Lines will be back on the menu boys!

Aw damn. I did not miss the bloodlines at all. Oh well, at least some of the units sound interesting.

Sorry, just been on the planet too long.

2nd edition. Citadel C series. C22 was the original Plague Cart
Twas this model which spawned the idea of a corpse cart.

Nearly as soon as I get into VC, they will probably release a new army book WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Although I expect there will be significant changes everywhere, as at the moment, the TK army book and rules are spookily similar to the rules for vampire counts, so hopefully we will get masses of new stuff, and we won't lose the focus of using magic for resurrecting stuff like the Tomb Kings have(which is why TK skellies are so cheap now, especially compared to VC skellies)

And on the subject of lores(plural!!!!xD ), I think this sounds quite likely. After all, we have had a half-hearted multiple lore thing with necromancy spells. I think the lores will go up in stages, so necromancers get to use the Lore of Necromancy, which is the fairly typical low-level spells like Invocation and Raise Dead, which are designed just to keep the army going. Then vampires will get access to the Lore of Vampires, which will include a wide variety of spells, with a nice lore attribute about raising models(for each spell cast, the vampire's unit regains D3 wounds or something like that)

And then Vampire Lords might get a lore of their own; The Master Lore of Vampires. This will be wrath-of-god type stuff, and will probably all be really difficult to cast. So there'll be mostly raising models ON A MASSIVE SCALE :vampire3: and blowing up the enemy using magic vortexes.

Phew. Hmmmm.....I think I might have started thinking about this too much. I think I might need a lie down........

Can i just get a vampire lord that is a bit more resilient than T5, 3W?

I would like to see the old bloodlines again, but with serious stuff, so that they are all viable!

T5 W3 is pretty tough for a lord. Most lord's don't have that stats, and only Dragons/monsters have T6.

T5 is where we should be. Maybe W4 but that's it.

To be honest, one of the main things I want to see is Skeletons made viable again, for I do loathe the Ghoul models ever so much. And Skeletons just fit so well with the direction I want to take my VC army, loolk-and-feel wise.
I also would like to the Zombie Dragon get a rules upgrade that maybe made it good for something other than collecting dust (and I do dislike the Terrorgheist model ever so much).

+1

I think the biggest thing I'm looking forward to is some kind of resolution to this stupid unstable problem we have making half the army a bit useless. I don't want it to be overpowered but something as simple as 'Steadfast units do not take wounds from combat resolution due to being unstable' would balance it just fine. That and maybe characters too, nothing like my vampire lord tearing 4 warriors into bite-size pieces and them deciding that because there's lots of them and they have a guy with a flag actually that means I lost.

Core Cav option sounds pretty cool but will likely be light cav and so being undead and can't flee....

For my money- I would LOVE to see some sort of option to take Black Knights at Core (maybe if you have a Vampire with martial bloodlines???)

BUT I don't think this will happen :(

Other than that- I have heard from a GW staff member that we'll be getting some new Lahmian finecast minis.

Four distinct flavours. With the Terrorgheist kit in mind, sounds like we'll be seeing Strigoi and Blood Dragons, and from the Coven Throne/Mortis Engine I'd wager Lahmia and Necrachs.
Sometimes, it's good to be bad :)

More from Warseer:
new info on vamps, all appears to be 100% accurate:

- they are coming January (100% now)
- mortis engine/coven throne (unsure if this is final name) - plastic kit. apparently HUGE. we may be talking arachnarok base for this thing...(edit: thinking a bit more about it, it will probably be a chariot base like the sphinxes; but i think these things will be bigger than your average chariot from what ive heard)
- wraith riders/black knights - confirmed dual plastic cav kit
- monstrous infantry unit (unsure of name) - plastic kit. has option for wings. adding the wings is probably a unit option and may not be a completely separate unit.
- new finecast krell model
- black coach is indeed getting finecasted (damn Harry being right again )

a few of these are just confirmations of info we already have, but at least its more solid.

Edit - Blood Dragons, not Blood Knights
