More second chance skeletons
I picked up another lot of second chance skeletons. They looked in bad shape in the pictures but once they arrived I realized just how bad they were. Some looked like they had been painted by dipping them in paint, others had been repaired with rubber cement to hold them together, the shields were assembled with the boss on the back instead of the front and more. I took the whole lot and dumped them in the simple green.
After a couple long soaks in the simple green and several cleaning sessions this is what I ended up with. Most still in bad shape but good enough to work with.
Probably the worst model of the lot. It was originally covered with a paper soaked with glue robe, to make it either a Wraith or a Necromancer. It didn't have feet to start with and the rest of the parts came off when I removed the robe. I debated about just dropping it in the bits box to use on a terrain piece at a later date. Instead I hunted up a couple legs I had cut off a model years ago when I did a mounted Warith conversion.
The model with two new boots. I will call him "Died With His Boots On" I just need to add a bit of greenstuff and he will be ready to go.
The Usual suspects. With them on bases and heads added they don't look near as bad. I had to use one of the newer heads to finish them up. I later found the errant missing head but put it in the bits box for later.
Like it always seems to happen once I started trying to pin arms on them I broke another ones legs. I repinned the legs but the join was wobbly and it was a matter of time till they would break again, then it hit me, in the Immortal words of Johnny Cash " I got Chains, Chains around my Feet." So a little greenstuff to make some shackles and a section of chain from a chaos marauder flail and A great set of Leg Irons. It will keep the legs from breaking and adds character to the model.
The lot came with a bunch of the old bits from the Skeleton army box and I plan to assemble a couple more archers and grim reapers with scythes. The main reason I bought the lot was a group of ten complete skeleton horses. I plan to add them to my current wight cavalry so I can field a group of twenty for the 10k of Undead Oldhammer mega battle.
