@Farmer7574 All the parts shown in the picture are from the giant box. That box has some nice random bits in it, that is one of the reasons why I bought it.
I must admit I'm also lazy to paint big models, but this guy doesn't have that much details after all, just large skin areas and some clothing. I think I will really enjoy painting this, when its time comes.
@Sessioni After reading your reply, I've been checking out giant spares on eBay and found that box has shed loads of awesome extras in it!
They're far too expensive on their own from those bits companies but £30 for the box is a pretty sweet deal, what's the size of the base it uses?
I've got 3 armies too (OnG, VC & OK), all of which can field a giant, whether it's living or not... I'm quite tempted to pick one up but have already bought a lot recently.
Some advice; buy or make another base and do the second guy rising from the ground on it - double unit fillers for the same painting time and money.
@Farmer7574 Well my giant is using 60x80mm, but the original base size is 50x75mm. I made it bigger for the filling purposes + it wouldn't fit in regiment of 20x20mm bases.
You should definitely buy yours This box even got a squashed goblin figure!
I'm afraid I cannot make another giant unit filler from this box, I am going to put the extra hands on the same base rising above. For me buying this model wasn't really about filling units to save money (well this is pretty obvious as it fills 12 zombies, and 12 zombies do cost less..) but to make as cool as possible Zombie Giant Nevertheless this box certainly contains other things I will use in my other unit fillers! I love that skeleton "street sign"!
I've been brainstorming unit filler ideas and like the idea of that sign post in a bunch of zombies saying 'Brainz 1 mile' or something. That cage hanging from a dead tree would look cool too (I'm planning a dead forest theme).
That squashed goblin would work nicely next to your zombie giant or some zombie ogres. Have you planned to put him on one of your fillers yet?
@Farmer7574 That's a great idea for the sign I'm not sure about the goblin. It could be placed on a flag representing a skinned goblin or something I will probably use the cage in my terrain piece.
Here's some other things I got this week, (alternative) bat swarms, varghulf and another small unit filler for my zombies (the national socialist zombie is for my own fun):
@Sessioni That giant is looking badass. I'm usually against zombies with weapons but something just says a giant should have a club/tree/something in his hand. His left arm and head have been posed very well, great work.
Hilarious... you got the zombie dog handler. I'm considering picking that up right now but have so many ideas for fillers that I don't know if I can actually fit them all in. It's an awesome touch though.
Maybe you could do his guts coming from his stomach and trailing behind him with a zombie or something being dragged along, caught in them
@Adam_Barrow I was thinking about adding just skulls and maybe a skeleton body in there, but great idea anyways! I was also thinking crows on his shoulder ripping his flesh.. @Farmer7574 That's a great figure! I must warn you tho, it's a little larger than normal zombies, I think its 30mm. But that way he could be some kind of "champion" of the zombies:lol: Thanks for the compliments! Today I got something very random for 16 euros
@Sessioni Yeh it's all good. I'm planning on 3 or 4 ogre fillers for 80 Zs. I've got an OK army waiting to be painted and I'm looking forward to trying my hands at a few... what better way to start than zombie ogres!. I'm thinking of a few cool ideas for them but you'll have to wait til my blog starts to see them.
What's that box of bits you've got there? I see some old black knights, clown-Nagashs' staff, some horses & shields... and is that Deiter Helsnitch?
You got it, Dietr it is. Too bad I don't have the manticore for him, his legs are like ultra spread hahah.
Update for my giant, painted the base a little and I think the Boss himself is ready to be painted. Maybe green stuff here and there to stuff the mold lines on his legs. I added the guts and two skulls in his stomach, drilled holes through his eyes to give him more dead feeling, also he is now scarface. Added some slashes, buboes and small liver spots. I will add arrows on his body when he is otherwise fully painted.
@Sessioni Agreed, it does look like Deiter is attempting the splits without his mount. For some odd reason I'm picturing him wearing Travolta-style flares
Top job on that giant. Nicely undeadified and ready to eat brains! He's going to look awesome once painted up.
Just an idea... Maybe you could use the left hand holding the peasant in the giant kit so it looks like he's snacking on a zombie.
Thanks @Farmer7574 ! I was thinking about adding the left hand holding a peasant into the base, like another giant is raising up and the first thing to do is to get something to eat But I could use this for another smaller unit filler.
It's unfortunately too late now for any suggestions for giant as it is ready now, but I do like your idea. One thing tho, I haven't glued the right arm yet, so as you can see, it's just bare fist. But I was thinking if I should put a chain hanging from there, dragging a body with him.
edit. Oh! And I almost forgot the crows, I have to add crows on his shoulder too.
Eyeball hanging out would be sick Thanks for the comments everyone, it's you guys who keep me going!
Okay, today I decided to paint my old Banshee, and here is the result, took me about 35 minutes:
I love the model!
edit. I also decided to make spirit hosts from Bretonnian men at arms as they would fit in with the black knights. Plus I love almost every bretonnian model. My friend will sell me a boxfull of unpainted bretonnian models, some of them will probably end up zombies.
Something happened when I was gluing and stuffing the separate bats, and now they are flying in slightly unorganized manner.
But I guess it kinda looks like they are swirling around, as I decided to glue the other bat intentionally going the other way, after I noticed my mistake
But there they are. Reaper bat swarm, great model! The GW-model cost too much + frankly I think it's ugly as hell
edit. I must say I'm surprised how detailed this model is, can't wait to paint it!
@Sessioni Nice job on the banshee. I prefer blue/white tones for ethereals but she looks glowing and supernatural.
I love that reaper swarm. I've had it on my eBay watch list for months and still haven't gotten around to buying it due to spending money on other stuff.
Great model and miles above GW's, this one. Looking forward to seeing that one painted.
