i am impressed, not only by the conversion and painting but by the fact that you have managed to pull off green-sided bases without it destroying the models. havent seen that in a LONG while, and it stirs beautiful memories of the "red period" of warhammer. you have walked the line between "classic" colors and the more modern darker style of painting. i salute you sir!

Thank you! I began in the days of the "Undead" army book, with its multi-colored wraiths (gah!), so I know what you're talking about. I originally started with Goblin-Green bases with some beige-colored sand and ballast on top. It was detracting from the model, especially since the flocked mat I typically play on is much darker.

I switched over to my current basing style long ago. The green is Model Masters Medium Green. In the GW range, it's comparable to Catachan Green (or whatever it's called now).

The skin colour is a mix of roughly 70% Flesh, 20% White, and 10% Blue.

Very very cool. Colour scheme is similar to mine, but your extrem clean paintjob is the difference. I like mine, the dirty look, but yours are the cool clean counterpart. Awesome, as expected

They, or rather he, it's just one right? Looks rather fleshy. If you have a battalion box lying around, those can make pretty good "Makeshift Photo box"s with a piece of white paper in the back, helps keep the light clean and the model looking crisp in the pictures. Or even just if you set up a piece of white paper to put behind him. Your picture isn't bad, but just a suggestion.

BTW is the fur finished? I feel like the palette for that is a bit off. Like, the grey tone and the flesh don't really have a common denominator to help link them? They look very stark against each other as it stands, which could well be what you want, but I often try to use colours that uh, are more harmonic, I think that's how you say it?

Hi Tawg,

Thanks for the feedback. Just wish I'd looked at this sooner. I have just finished the whole unit like the first one. The look i was going for was the bottom left one in the army. With the fur I was looking for a dark grey with a lighter grey as a highlight (although you can't see the grey highlights from the photo) but actually think your advice would be better.

Thanks for the tip for when taking photo's I will do that from now on.

I've new to the hobby so really appreciate all the feedback.

Nice job with the wolves Ustrello ;] I like the greenish colour scheme and I'll try something similiar when I get my own dogs. And the greyness of the fur corresponds well with the base.

Was the snow made with some clever house-made trick or is it some kind of pigment one can buy in a hobby store?

It is actually just GW snow flock, and the skin was super easy to do

Some time ago I bid low on two ebay sales of nine Dire Woofs each (to this day I wonder why two different people had nine wolves each) and was a bit surprised to win both.

I only ever got around to painting ten of them, though. The rest will see a brush one day, but so far I've never needed more than ten on the table.
