In response to a few requests here's how I painted my skellies:
Bone: Base of charadon granite layered up with CG+kommando khaki, washed with baba black and devlan mud, re-highlighted with KK and a final highlight of skull white. There's no exact order as I washed and highlighted to achieve the effect I was after. I tried to think of the light coming from above and behind (i.e. the moon) when I highlighted.
Reds: Scab red base, layered up to Mechite Red, shaded with Thraka Green (more heavily in recesses and towards the bottom of the shields), then more Mechite red on higher surfaces/highlights. For edge highlighting, MR + vomit brown, then just vomit brown on the extreme edges. Finally glazed with watered down baal red to tie it all together.
Metal: boltgun metal washed with baba black and devlan mud. Highlighted with chainmail. ANother wash with BB, then final highights/scratches with chasmal. Rust was simply a wash of dark flesh+blazing orange, then just blazing orange, concentrating on where rust would usually collect i.e around rivets. ON the blades of the spears I stippled some blazing orange as well.
Leather: Scorched brown, highlights of SB + KK, and finally KK, before glaze with devlan mud
Wood (shield): graveyard earth base, GE+codex grey highlights, devlan mud washes, rehighlighted with GE+CG
Wood Spear Hafts: SB, stripes of bestial brown, and then stripes of KK or GE
Hope this helps!! PLay around with this to get the desired result. I'm still not 100% happy but then they are a basic unit and I can't let my painter head interfere with trying to get the unit finished in a reasonable time!!
