To me, the fact that that's a HeroQuest model makes it cool. In spite of the fact that he looks like a He-Man reject. And, Jebus, the naughty nurse's tits are practically the size of her head. Gods forbid if she tries to run anywhere.

You've got some serious camp going on there, and it's awesome.

Ha, ha thanks Von Calyptra they were fun to make. :) Funny you should mention He-Man as he kind of looked like Skeletor before I converted him.:skull: I should correct my previous post though it was a naughty French maid not a nurse. Kind of irrelevant now though, as she is simply a creature of the night.:konrad:

Thanks KASSILL, I like the red armour on your guy I did a similar colour scheme on mine.

Thanks man. I was really pleased with it in the end. Will probably be doing the same for units like Blood Knights etc down the road.

Nice old school dudes eggspr!

He's got a mean left hand punch, watch it!

As can be seen he recently brought some creatures low (or half an army) and thrusted his shield into and elbow into another!
(The cloak is not varnished!)

I'm pleased

Fallen Angel: It was indeed the legs from the TG kit. Just cut the bottom half of them away carefully then using wire pinned them into the torso, after that it was just a case of sculpting the top half back in.

sorry took so long to respond laptops been in for repair and for some silly reason my phone don't like loading this site :(

robtion: love the naughty vamp chick  inspired me to create a vamp from the reaper mini as my general for a Halloween game night, pics coming soon.

Just finished the final touches to my new Vampire countess so here it is; was tad worried about the scale but think it turned ok. :perv:

Ok, here are my Vampire Lords

First up, the old GW Hammer-esque number. I don't particularly like this model - like a lot of the undead stuff from the early 90s, its chunky and a bit too cartoonish for my taste, but I needed a painted vamp for a tournament in the summer and he was quick to do ;)

Also, my Winged Vampire Lord (including the Salacious Crumb-esque bat buddy hanging off his shoulder). I followed Untitled Musketeer's excellent tutorial on painting the wing and customized a pimping big base for him to enter into my local gaming club's painting comp.

Sorry the pics are rubbish, need to take them in daylight next time I think!

C&C welcome!

Hey Darkside,

Great job on the Vamps, partciularly good job on the wing. I don't know about you, but for me that was the hardest bit due to the amount of the model it takes up. I repainted it twice to get it where I wanted it. As for the tutorial, I'm glad you found it useful. Your transitions down the wing are very good indeed and the rich blue of the cape is excellent. Really well done!

Now for some feedback starting with the Vamp on foot.

I like this, it's traditional in the choice of colours and it's cleanly executed. Some small improvements could be made though through the simple application of some washes to really show off the colours. The red on the wasteband and collar would look really good with a glazing wash of red and then thin glazes of blue in the shadows. The blue will really help to make the red that little bit richer.
I also think the skin on this little dude could benefit from a drop of colour. While dead skin would be grey and lifeless you have to remember there is evil magic that keeps these dead beings alive. Consequently a really thin glaze of purple to the recessess would reallyt help to bring the dead skin to life.

As for the winged vamp, I think similarly a little more purple and red glazing to the veins would really make them pop. Again, the red armour would really benefit from some blue shading and some extreme highlights on the very edges.

I know this probably sounds really critical, it really isn't meant to. My comments are only suggestions that you can use/adapt/ignore as you see fit. You've done a great job on both and you should be really proud.

Cheers,

u_m

Hey u_m!

Thanks for the comments - from the guy that wrote the tut himself - made my day! I agree on the wing, its such a massive area it dominates the model. I wanted something impressive for the club competition, and when I saw the tutorial I thought I'd give it a go! Not great practice, but I painted most of the wing's layers before touching the rest of the model as I wanted to see if i could pull it off properly first:Vampire1:

The tutorial did the business though, the model got me best fantasy model and best overall, so a big cheers to u_m

P.S. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! (Speaking as one teacherman to another) if your feedback is as good as this at work, your formative assessment must be pimpin'!
