Thanks Shadespyre. It is quite staggering, the amount of work I put into these 210pts. I try not to think about it I do hope that I have inspired you to make more zombies, because if you ask me, they are really fun to build.

Thanks 13, I'm always glad to be able to provide inspiration. I too wish to see them all painted. So much actually that I am planning to undercoat one of the units and start painting it before the others. Probably gonna be painting those two weeks from now. An while I'm at it, which one of the units do you guys think to be the first to receive paint?

Time for an update... with painted stuff!

And no 13, the giant has not received any paint, as I am still not yet done building his units.

However, the ogre unit is well underway, with only a few guys remaining to be painted, and the ogres themselves. The second ogre is nowhere to be seen in the pictures bellow though, as I decided he needed some more converting. He'll get some spray and paint soon, along with his buddy. A few free running zombies have also seen the brush thus far. Check them all out bellow (and excuse the crappy pictures, I will take better ones when more is finished).

And a close up of 5 of them that I am especially pleased with. The fancy-shield-guy is not entirely finished, needs a bit more work on weathering the shield.

Comments and criticism is much appreciated. And if you want to see close ups of some other zombies just ask, and I'll make sure to fix some for the next update.

LOVE the colours and the amount of detail! Things like the bird, yellow border with twin tailed comet, shield, striped pants (you oughta make a Waldo zombie once and put it in your huge horde) and all those feathers bring so much character to this hungry lot. Not only does the unit have great overall model composition, now it has great colour composition as well.

Thanks, glad you liked them. That Waldo idea is not a bad one, I'll see what I can do. Actually having thoughts about fielding a really big unit of zombies, and that should add some extra fun to it.

@Robtion & 13: No no, I assure you, it is all just the normal painting routine. GW paint, cheep brushes, tissue paper, stone tile for paintmixing, good old fashioned tap water, the occasional blood sacrifice. You know, the normal deal.

@Kingside: I actually stole it myself, from the bretonnian army book. It is one of Couronne's vassals, Philibert the Loon. There are some really great heraldries to swipe from those pages.

@Melle: Yea, some of those bitz you sent me turned out to be gold mines for conversions. The Cursed Company dwarf is a wonderful miniature to paint.

I am also hopping on the praise bandwagon - I just that while there is a quite an amount of them, every single one is very well painted and characterful - not encountered very often in the cases of big ranked units I love the conversions and I love the painting, great unit.
I'm also quite suprised about the standard bearer - so many nice freehands and yet a piece of paper on it is blank - why is that? Did the zombie forgot to actually put something on his standard?

@Shadespyre: Thanks for the comment, although I must say that I had hoped to inspire rather than frighten people with these guys. Zombies are great fun to built since there really aren't any limits, just build them however you feel like.

@Borgnine: Thanks for the praise. The standard bearer is actually painted a very long time ago, you can go back to page 2 to see the first pictures of it, and note that he has remained the same. I always wanted to add something to his parchment but never found the inspiration. I will give the whole model a workover before I can call my zombies finished, so just you wait.

Small update with a few new painted zombies. I have had a hard time finishing them lately, as I've been having trouble with the basing. The thing is that I dislike the current basing I have on my VC (which insistently is the same as on all my armies), and especially the way it looks on the zombies. Was not sure what to do and this unmotivated me something terribly, and the few zombies I managed to put paint on this week never got their bases painted at all (so no pictures of the absolut latest). I tried one solution to the problem, which was to switch the brown of the bases to grey. You can see a test model with that bellow. I wasn't too pleased with that one either, I think it would need yellow grass instead of green to work. Reworking the entire army would also mean a whole lot of work, especially if I want a different grass, so in the end I think I'll have to stick to what I got. But feel free to raise your opinion on the matter.

Anyways, time for some pictures.

Daaamn this is sweet, once again I am amazed at how zombies can be detailed and well painted - they could be heroes in other armies I especially like the armor on the captain with his head in hand. The rust on their weapons is a little to strong and too orange, but it's a very minor thing

Thanks Borgnine. I am really pleased with the headless captain myself. Regarding the rust I can definitely understand what you mean. My technique for rust is quite old and I really should look into advancing it. I'm thinking of ading a little shade with Nuln Oil after the base of Dark Flesh to make it darker. But I should probably look into ways of adding actual texture too it aswell.
