Nice. I've tried many times to get that type of effect, but it's always looked wrong. Thanks for the colour scheme though. I shall try it xD

Well a bit more progress this week and then got distracted by my bits box, always wanted a bat swarm if only for the look, all comments welcome:

Might be taking a little break for a bit to paint a Khorne daemon army I just started but still have plenty of VC to paint so will drop back in with stuff in the near future.

So I got bored of painting Khorne after 10 Bloodletters but will struggle on and continue them at some point. With Cry Havoc in Dunfermline coming up I decided to play as the Death Grand Alliance for the first time (yes I am playing AoS now as well........ but will never surrender to the oval bases).

With this decision made I needed to paint up the Skull Catapult I purchased on E-Bay many months ago. Little bit rusty and painted in a hurry but results below:

Not my finest work but difficult to achieve much with the a war machine that is predominantly one colour. Remaining to be painted:

To Go:
2 Morghast Archia (New purchase)
Wight King BSB - Forgeworld
70 Zombies
22 Skeleton Archers
Mortarch Mannfred
Krell
Zombie Dragon
Terrorghiest
3 Varghiest
Corpse Cart
10 Blood Knights
6 Black Knights
Mourngul (Still to buy)
Second Skull Catapult (Still to buy and checking E-Bay)

Countless old character models and whatever my ridiculously sized bits box can comprehend.

Think I enjoy painting undead a lot more so this blog might become more active again over the next few months.

What a great looking classic army you have there! I especially like the basket you added to the catapult. Might have to do something similar with mine.

So I came 13th out of 32 at Cry Havoc with my friend that topped me for 1st in the last ever 8th edition tournament (see photo in previous post) coming 12th. I will beat him one of these days and taste the sweet nectar of beer as he drives home for once (loser drives home).

Anyway with that behind me I started to think I achieved a pretty high ranking position considering the list I took was thrown together and I didn't have any faith in it. It was:

Wight King on Skeletal Steed with Ruler of the Night and Cursed Book
Necrotect
Varghulf Courtier
Necromancer
30 Ghouls FC
10 Skeletons FC + Spears
10 Skeletons FC + Spears
1 Skull Catapult
1 Terrorgheist
30 Grave Guard
3 Spirit Hosts

Some good synergy with the Varghulf and ghouls / Wight King, Necromancer and Grave Guard / Necrotect, Skull Catapult and Terrorgheist but when writing it I wished I had more painted (even with a 6000 point 8th edition army painted). So after watching a number of other Death players I noticed something that everyone has that I was missing, I present to you my nearly finished Mourngul!!!!!

Just the basing to do once I get back from holiday and then I'll update again. Think I'll be painting a number of larger models over the coming months (Zombie Dragon, Terrorgheist and Mannfred).

As always all comments, tips, suggestions welcome.

hey Adam, the Mourngul is a hobbiests dream. Easy to put together, easy to paint, especially considering I'm stuck with the ethereal wash and highlight technique that I've been doing since my blog started, but the theme works I think.

So decided I did not have enough time between returning from holiday and heading off on holiday again to paint one of my larger models. Although I did manage to get my Wight King BSB painted:

The banner was incredibly tricky and not really happy with the outcome of the bat but couldn't be bothered re-painting.

Comments and tips welcome
